Jack Risting has been both good friend and chairman of the board of directors, and Helen too, has made a great many friends in the subdivision. But by the first of October they will be on their way to the sunny climes of Florida. Their new home will be in Venice, on the west coast Jack says it's a fairly new subdivision and very lovely. They have visited there many times and ""already have friends waiting. Not too long ago Jack's sister bought a home there, so they'll feel right at home. Jack stated that it had been a real pleasure to be of service to the community and a greqi satisfaction to be on the board of the MSC. He hopes . that the community prospers and wishes health and wealth and mufeh happiness to the residents Mn the coming years. He also wanted to express his very best wishes to the MSC and, their officers. Helen and Jack have both enjoyed living here afld will be sorry to leave so many friends. The board has asked Jack »to remain a director until ;Spet. 30. Clare Mueller replaces Jack as chairman of the board. Sept. 23rd. this addition at tK'e next monthly meeting and at that time will be voted upon by the club members. An announcement regarding the membership forms was also made. Tnese forms • have been given to everyone in the club to sign. It is very important that these forms are signed by both husband and wife and turned in to the club. This is necessary for the state and must be carried out. The meeting ended with a round of card playing and some delicious cake and coffee offered by Winnie Clauson and the women on her committee. Steak Coofcout Huge Success I think it safe to assume that with the success of last week's SAAC Club steak fry it will most certainly become an annual affair here at the Shores. With the smell of sizzling steaks permeating the air and the call of waiters ordering "rare." "well done" "And how would you like your's sir?", the sight of tables spread under the trees and neighbors and friends enjoying small talk, it was a very pleasant affair, indeed. It was relaxing to know that all you had to do was wait for the food to come to you. All in all 191 meals were served and (happy day) they all made it jast before the rain came down. Ken Schopp and Sam Ziemet were the co-chairman. Harry Tiggeman was the head waiter and there were thirteen waiters in all. Many thanks go to the two cooks, Bill Lindwall and Howig Lexow. We were also glad to hear that the affair was a financial success as well. All proceeds will go to the SSAC Club Christmas party. Amendment Read At Meeting Of MSC The first MSC meeting of the fall season was held last Thursday, Sept. 6, at the VFW hall. During the business meeting a first reading was given of an addition to the by laws. It reads as follows: Former members who wish to be reinstated to membership in the club, shall upon approval by the board of directors be accepted to membership in the club upon payment of the regular annual dues in effect at that time. Dues will not be pro-rated regardless of the month such applications are received, however, the initiation fee will be waived. It should be noted.that there will be a second reading of College Bound One by one they go, their luggage heavy with typewriters, books, clothing, and a few memories of home, perhaps. Off to lick the world go these sophisticated young adults, these children. Away from parents and on to new taces. Some go to small college towns, some to big cities where the campus has found a place among the skyscrapers. Their first year at college; a big step. When they come home at Christmas time you will know better whether to encourage them, applaude them, or comfort them. There are four young people.. that I know of, from our subdivision that will be going to the college of their choice this year, and two of them on a scholarship. Karen Lindwall has a scholarship to Northwestern University and will be majoring in education; Terry Wetzel will be attending Elgin College. Eddie Valek left Saturday for Michigan Tech and Johnny Korner left Thursday for Blackburn College in Carlinville, 111. He also has a scholarship and will major in economics. Good luck to all of you. I should like to know' of any other young people off to college this fall. I don't know every family in the subdivision and I might, unknowingly have left someone out Meet The Bonks It would seem that 1962 is indeed a good year for Phyllis and Edward Bonk. Not only did they move into a new home but also have had the arrival of their second daughter. The Bonk family moved to our shores in April of this year and a really enjoying their lovely two-storied Colonial home. Their family now consists of two darling little girls; Linda Lee, who is three and Jennifer Lynn, who will be about 2 weeks old by the time this paper comes out. Ed's father is also living with them. It seems he enjoyed his visit with them so nriuch that he decided to stay. J Both Ed and Phyllis have some wonderfully varied interests, though, with the children to care for Phyllis confesses she hasn't had the inclinatipn to be as active in them as she once was. They both like to play ping pong and bowl and Bill enjoys quite a few sports including baseball. Phyllis loves horseback riding, ice skating and swimming, likes to read whenever time permits and also plays the violin, Ed has had quite a few hobbies which include raising some beautiful tropical fish, model airplanes, gardening, collecting snakes and restoring old cars. Right now he is working with a 1936 Dodge. In fact Ed's interest in ola cars had something to do with their first meeting which was at a hot rod club. Both the Bonks were born and raised in Chicago and attended N,Schurz high school. His job also carries him back to Chicago where he works as an industrial engineer. Time Out For Fishing The Middlekauffs spent a pleasant week in Minnesota. They were three days in Minneapolis on business and then traveled on to Hickory lodge situated on Serpent Lake. They had a fine time with beautiful weather and some lucky fishing. Pike and bass were among the catch. Adventure On A Houseboat The Burgstallers and the Rodes tried a new hat this summer. They spent their week's vacation on a houseboat. They rented their boat at Oshkosh, Wis. and toured through the chain of lakes region where they saw some lovely scenery and were able to take colored pictures. They learned a lot about houseboat living the first day out. Not realizing how rough the water was they set about preparing the meal and setting the table. When- all of the dishes crashed to the floor and broke they understood some of the problems ^connected with living aboard. Theatre Party A well known Summer theatre and restaurant was the scene of an exalting play last .week. Many of our boys from Holiday Hills are in the Island Lake Little League -- in fact several were on the first place team. This is your change to have a good time and also support a worthwhile cause. If you want any more , details on this dance, call Alice Forthman at 385-0964. Alice spends so much time with the Little League, I expect her to show up in a regulation uniform one of these days. She just bubbles with enthusiasm for these youngsters. I don't suppose the fact that Carl manages a team, young Charles pitched the winning game for the first place team and Billy was the bat boy, has anything to do with it.
