Liebenow, president of the Chicago Board of Trade, will serve as Illinois volunteer state chairman for the 1963 March of Dimes Jan. 2 to 31. The appointment, announced by Basil O'Connor, president of The National Foundation, brings experienced leadership to the task of raising funds for vital work in the prevention of birth defects, arthritis and polio. In addition to his position as chief administration officer of the world's oldest and largest contract grain exchange, he is director of Industry Capital corporation, and a member of the AgricuMure- Business Rel a t i o n s committee of the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce. . . COURT BRIEFS Richard Brown of McHenry was fined $15 for speeding when he appeared in the court of Police Magistrate Donald Howard Thursday evening. . August G. Borchmann of Rockford was fined $110 for having open liquor in his car and also for improper lane usage. He appeared in the court of Justice of the Peace Charles M. Adams last Saturday. Robert Ellmar of McHenry had a $100 fine imposed for reckless driving. A $10 fine was imposed on George L. Dasing of McHenry for following too closely. Halcom Lowell of McHenry paid a $10 fine for speeding. McHenry Hospital A Crystal Lake couple, Mr. and Mrs. James Duggan, are parents of a son bom aepl. 4. Rt. 31, are parents of a son, Robert Lawrence, born Sept. 14 at St. Francis hospital, Evanston. The young man weighed 10 lbs., lO1^ ozs., and was welcomed by five brothers and three sisters. His father is a postal clerk at McHenry post office. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Zeller, Sr., of Island Lake and CIVIL DEFENSE McHenry civil defense, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will sponsor two first aid courses. The first course will be a standard refresher. This will be for all individuals who presently hold standard first aid card that will •••not expire prior to Nov. 1, 1962. (All cards show a date of issue and are good for three years, eg: if cards shows date of Nov. 4, 1959, this means the card will expire No. 4, 1962.) The refresher course ruru> for 6 hours. It will be taught in three, two-hour sessions.; The first class will be held on tj>OeL 3 at 7:30 p.m. in room 107 of the McHenry high school. It will be taught by Edward Waddcll, Jr., of McHenry. There will be no absentees permitted. Students must attend all three sessions to 'obtain certificate. There will"" be no other refresher courses held for at least another year. A*, regu'ar standard first aid 'wtourse will begin on Oct. 24 in JJoom 107 at 7:30 p.m. in the .McHenry high school. It will" run for six consecutive weeljs, with no class being helci" on Nov. 21. ARMY BAND CONCERT The 5th U.S. Army Band, under the direction of Bandmaster Billy C. Cook,1 will be presented in concert on Americanism Day Sept. 21 at the courthouse square, Woodstock, at 7:30 p.m. Sponsors of this concert are the U.S. Army Recruiting Station and the Woodstock Lodge 1043, B.P.O. Adult Education Center Opens Sopn Registration for classes at the adult education center at the Woodstock Com m u n i t y high school will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30,- Sept. 24. 25 and 26. Room 106 in the new addition will be the registration location. Use east or rear door of the new addition for direct entrance. Any subject not listed but having sufficient students will be taught.
