She won the office by unanimous acclaim. Joanne Mai accepted the vice-presidency for a second term. Mrs. Allen McKim will handle the duties qL secretary-treasurer for the naming year. Accolades and verbal orchids to Bobbie Carroll for the fine manner in whidh she conducted the office of president last year. She was unable to accept for another year because of conflicting interests. The women were sorry to lose the talents of Mrs. John Fox who served as secretary-treasurer f{^ three years. But, here's lv^iing the Foxes thrive in their new environment on the west coast. It will be very nice to see them when school is out next spring. Marie- Hojnacki was welcomed as a new member and her guest, Mrs. Mary Kuna of McHenry, was accorded the visitor's hospitality bit. During the social hour, several gals found reason to rejtRce. They were winners in the game session. They included Joanne Mai; Sally Olsen (three times!); Marge Stacknick; Laura Slater; Betty Reiter; Alice Gustafson; Marie Hojnacki; Bobbie Carroll; and Edith Brendle. Marge Stacknick and Mickey Murray were the recipients of other gifts and the "tasty pastry" was offc* ed by Marge Stacknick and lnyself. The next meeting will be held on Columbus Day in the beachhouse. The Sands of Time Are Running Out There are only four days left to register for the general election in November. Ruefully, Mary Tomasello discovered the presence of smoke most generally means fire last week on Tuesday, 'Mien her car was completely uemolished. While journeying to one of the local supermarkets, she noticed smoke arising from the hood of her "wheels". Fortunately, she was able to escape from confinement before it burst into fiames. The fire department handled the episode promptly, and it was suspected that faulty wiring was the cause. Iffco tes from the Village Board Road work in the village has been completed for this year, according to commissioner Art Stuhlfeier. He made his report at the last meeting of the president and trustees on Sept. 24. Complaints about septic systems were handled by Bob Zahn and the owners have agreed to correct these difficulties. Other routine reports were made. The next meeting will be held Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. in the beachhouse. Walters entertained the fellows and wives who helped build the house. Included were Marge and Ole Olsen, Herman Sulzen, Clemencia and Bob Fernandez, the Ray 'Aaltos, Marie and Greg Burg, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Yost, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Johnson of McHenry. Bill had promised to have Lawrence Welk and the Lennon sisters for this auspicious occasion, but they received word "the plane was grounded". Ha! The refreshments, both liquid and dry, were plentiful in the lovely orchid kitchen. The „ home is beautiful in every detail. And won't the kids have fun coming down the clothes chute from the second floor. We hear they are selling tickets to the neighborhood kids! Another delightful detail is the wrought iron bannister which encloses the stair well. If Gert opens the front door, the kids can shoot right into the yard! It was a very nice party for one of the happiest of occasions; The "Welcome Mat" is Spread A hearty welcome to Mr. and Mrs. Richard White who have established residence in the former Joe Strudeman home cn Knollwood Drive. They and their three young ones have been in the village for the past month. Their family (as of this date --and subject to change in the next two weeks) includes Tammy, 3; Michael, 2; and Bryan, 1. We will be looking for the next news article from them shortly. Here's hoping the neighbors in that area will call on Mrs. White and welcome her to the community. Farewell Party for "Boy in Blue" Mr. and Mrs. Ed Staiknick will open their home to relatives on Sunday when they hold a farewell parly for son "Butch". He leaves for military duty with the Navy on Oct. 16. He will take his "boot training" in San Diego where he will meet up with Bob Gates who is already stationed there. We wish Butch all kinds of success in his new career. Sr. Hi M.Y.F. News The Spring Grove M.Y.Fer's were guests of the Rihgwood Senior Methodist Youth^iSellowship group on Sunday, Sept. 30. They had a very good discussion on "The Will of God" and a worship service planned by Ida Mae Walkington and Donna Low. There were refreshments served by Bonnie Bruce and Sue Jacobsen. A total of 20 were present. Their next meeting will be Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. Pat Low and Leslie Decker will have the p r o g r a m e n t i t l e d " D a t i n g " . They hope to have a real good turnout, and hope to see all lei the men have the use of his dinghy to bring the raft to the beach. Levesque on the distaff side, and Kevin Rourke, Donny Parenti, Matt Levesque and Donny Bur g representing the "stronger sex". Mother Lil had a large assortment of "goodies" for the small fry.
