CHUCK HILLEB, TO BE HONORED j Betty Hettermann Chuck1 Hiller continues to make news even though the • series has been delayed due to the inclement weather. By now 1 everyone from one coast to another is aware of his grand • slam home run which is now ^ baseball history. Needless to ' say just how proud we all are , that he is from our town. Of course you would never know it -- ha! ha! That is by looking at the streets and buildings in Johnsburg!! There are banners and flags flying all over the place. There is a celebration planned in his honor sometime in the near future depending on when he an 1 his family return heir. They will lake up residence in the Richard Dehn home on Hillcrest Place for the winter months. I imagine he will be terribly busy trying to accept everyones congratulation^ and best wishes. We were all "tickled to death" to see him appear on several television programs while he was in New York. The town of Johnsburg will have something to be proud of once again. At this writing the series is not yet over, but whatever the outcome. Chuck Hiller will not be forgotten. recently. They are Joyce Sherman, S h i r l e y Mudeen, and Karen Raul. Friday, Oct. 12, the troop camped out at Hawthorne Hills along with a few other troops. They arrived home about 3:30, Saturday afternoon. Greta Martin brought the refreshments for the sOct. 10 meeting. Public Party Reminder Just a last minute reminder about the public party the Blessed Virgin Sodality has planned for next Sunday evening. It will be held in the community club^hall beginning at 8 o'clock. Come along and bring your friends. Repeat Vows Best wishes and congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Nystrom who repeated their marriage vows on Aug. 20. The bride is the former Beverly Thelen, daughter of the Alfred Thelens. The newlyweds are residing in Crystal Lake. Association to Meet The St. John's Home and School association will hold its next regular meeting on Oct. 20 in the community club hall. Following the regular business meeting a demonstration will be held. All members are urged to be present next Monday Boys to Celebrate Halloween I This Thursday (tonight) the ju\"?nile boy Foresters will' meet in the community club hall at 7 o'clock. All members are urged to attend this meet-, ing and participate in the planned game night. Also on the agenda is the Halloween c o s t u m e p a r t y . E a c h , boy a t - j tending must come in costume' to j o i n in on the f u n . So a l l , you boy Foresters plan to have j fun by being present tonight. I an extended time is Oscar Hollenbach from Florida. Gerry and Ted Stilling, Mike and Eddie Hettermann accompanied their grandmother, Mrs. Helen Hettermann, to Jefferson, Wis., last Sunday. Ther-e they visited Carol Ann Stilling at St. Coletta's school. Later they visited the Leonard Lois family at Wheatland. Hospital Patient Recuperates The Turner family on Hillcrest Place are happy to have their father at home. He was a patient at the Woodstock hospital for several weeks following a heart seizure. He will have to take it easy for awhile though. St. Louis Resident Passes On Word was received by Joe and Alvina Miller of the urf timely passing of his brotherin- law, O. L. West of St. Louis. Mrs. West is the former Frances Miller. Besides his widow, two sons, Tom and Lloydi also survive. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Art Thelen, Mrs. Lenora Miller and Jake Miller left for St. Loukftn Tuesdav. Funeral serviccgSmvill take place there olrwednesday. Lakemoor GIRL SCOUTS HOLD OUHfrlG OVER WEEKEND Carol Venable Troops 267 and 309 held their meeting on Thursday at the "little white school". Last minute plans were discussed for their outing which was from Friday to Sunday. Each girl had an assigned duty to perform. They were all very co-operative and a good time was had by all. Around the Town Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sarley attended the funeral of Sophie Our sympathies are relayed to family. Halloween Party Reminder All members of the juvenile girl Foresters are asked to keep the date of Oct. 29 in mind. Their regular meeting will be held at this time and their annual Halloween party. Loads of various things are planned for this evening. Those members not appearing in costume will have to forfeit a fine. Friedman in Chicago last week. The Erickson family spent the weekend in Chicago. They attended the wedding of Rita's cousin, James Matousek, on Saturday. The ceremony was in Cicero and the reception was held in La Grange. Another inspection tour was held at the Cynowa home this Sunday. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Paul Clark and son, Ray's sister from DesPlaines, Mrs. Hazel Flagler, of this village and her son, and wife, Mr. and Mrs. James Flagler of Chicago. Ray told me he's serio u s l y c o n s i d e r i n g a l i t t l e money making scheme, which is charging admission for guided tours. Actually, nothing gives Elsie more pleasure than the opportunity to show off her new home. Birthday Greetings Lit tie Lessie Venable celebrated her birthday on Sunday, however, Oct. 16 is really the day. Her guests included: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Szarek and Lillian Venable, her grandparents, Marie Strnad, greatgrandmother, Catherine Kostur, great-aunt, Lenny Szarek and Marilyn Venable, uncle and aunt, Rich, Marcy, Ricky, Observes Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. John Thelen were surrounded by their family last Sunday in celebration of iheir thirty-ninth anniversary.
