Attend Funeral The LaBay family spent several days in Michigan attending the funeral of Ernie's brother who passed away suddenly last Thursday. We send our deepest regrets to the La- Bay family. The regularSnonthly meeting of the Johnsburg P.T.A. Was held in the multipurpose room on Tuesday, Oct. 16. President, James Long, presided. After the regular business meeting, vice-president, Mr. Wiley, explained the Illinois Congress of Parent and Teachers scholarship fund. The guest speaker, Howard T. Markey, Commander of the 126th Air Refueling Wing, 111. National Guard, gave a very1' in- Spiring speech. The many who attended will agree on this. As usual, the evening ended with t h e r e f r e s h m e n t c o m m i t t e e Serving delicious goodies. Also, don't forget the membership -drive and contest which ends Nov. 20. Awards will be presented at .the November meet* ihg. Kerr and Mrs. Schultz for donating their time in the recent Gifl Scout dVive. The villagers were generous with their donations for this worthy cause. Girl Foresters Will meet Monday, Oct. 29. The regular meeting will be held, followed by a Halloween party. All memfbers are to come dressed in costumes, members who are in seventh grade and up who do not want to dress in costume must impersonate a TV personality. First judging of the dance eontest will also take place, the dances for this meeting are the polka and twist. Attend Wedding Jfim and Marilyn Kinder attended the wedding of their cousin, Richard Krautsack, in Chicago Saturday. A lovely reception followed for families and friends of the newlyweds. Girl Scout Fund We are grateful to Pat Jablonski, Esther Schneider, Mrs. Visitors and Visiting Dinner guests in the Mangold home Sunday were Leona and Lawrence Narvey and daughter, Mary, and Eddie Mc- Clory, and Mr. and Mrs. Mc- Clory who will soon be moving to Pistakee Terrace. Ma and Pa Tellow had their children in for dinner on Sunday. The senior Lehmans enjoyed having their daughter, Laura, husband, Frank, and their four children from Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., visiting with them for the weekend. The Joe Metzger family and the J. Harrer family of Bull Valley spent a lovely day at the Shrine of our Lady of Holy Hill in Wisconsin Sunday. Paul Heitz and family from Franklin Pavk were Sunday visitors at the home of Pete and Anna Marie Heitz. Gert Mackinson had some of her relatives in for dinner and cards on Tuesday. Eleanor Mangold, daughter, Joy, and her two children drove in to Chicago Tuesday fo visff with Eleanor's sister, Marion, who has been a very siclfr lady. to do the same. Due to the Chuck Hiller celebration on Obt. 28; the planned tirip for Pack 452 to the Fire house and Rescue StjUad will be cancelled until further notice. A tentative date has been set for Nov. 4 and boys will be noti* fied when more definite plans are established. Girl Scout News Alice Beaschke's troop will now be called trocp 88. At their meeting on Oct. 18, they held their court of honor, tossed merit badges ahead uniform inspection, and planned for their Halloween party. Cookie hostesses were Doreen Paterson and Nancy Roggenback. This troop now has thirty- six girls and will not accept any more. Birthday Wishes To Chris Williams on Oct. 25 and to Chuck Herman; Jr., on Oct. 31. The Big Day Sunday, Oct. 2^ is Chuck Hiller day. A grand parade and presentation will take place in Johnsburg beginning at 1 p.m. Anyone wishing to join the parade with a float will please have their float pertaining to baseball. Cub Scout News The lingering autumn sun blankets the Indian summers splendor as you languidly attend to the usual daily necessities. The sweet smell of burning lebves drifts to you, and a smoky haze lays softly in the air. Suddenly the silence is shattered at the cry for help. You run to the window to see your neighbor vainly trying to put out a brush fire that is raging out of control. You think instantly of calling the fire department and realize you have never taken the trouble to memorize that important number. In the wasted time it takes you to look it up, considerable damage has been done. It might have been prevented. Do you know the number? In connection with Fire Prevention Week all Cub Scouts in Pack 452 have memorized that vitally important emergency number. "The Waukegan radio station phoned her the good news, then switched the call to the radio hook-up and interviewed her so all their listeners could feel some of the excitement. Fortunately Bea's Mom, Mrs. Johanna Modloff, and family, Bill, and Carol of DesPlaines were there to help Bea keep her wits about her. Wednesday evening Loretta Kern entertained nine girls and helped Bernice celebrate. Besides the honored guest, Bernice Froehlig, others attending included: Arlene Connerty, Birdie Deppreier, Pat Ferrell, Barb Flood, Eola Hillman, Marie Kern, Mary Mecko and Marilyn Wiggerman; PISTAKEE TERRACE Joyce Toepper 385-3044 H&ltoween Party The c h i l d r e n ' s H a l l o w e e n party will be held Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 31. Cubs Trip Cancelled Den 4, Pack 452, after studying the requirements for Bobcats, spent time making Indian n e c k l a c e s o u t o f p o p c o r n strung together and painted with water colors. Cookie host was Butch Kennebeck. The trip, planned for Oct. 28, of Pack 452 to visit the Firehouse and Rescue Squad has been postponed until further notice, possibly Nov. 4. Saturday, Arlene and Jerry, accompanied by two other couples, spent the e v e n i n g c e l e b r a t i n g J e r r y ' s birthday. Dining at the John and Lynn Pe^schke home in Lake Bluff, Sunday, were Joe and Jean Benoche and girls. Also pres- 'ent- were Louis and Betsy Perschke. Bob and Marion Rabb spent the weekend visiting her son, Jack Adair, and' family, in celebration of his birthday. Wednesday, Jeff Connerty hosted twelve children in Halloween costume as he celebrated his fifth birthday. Guests included: David Brink, Mike and Bobby Erickson, Mike Gavin, Keith Mierzwa, Lori Parker, Denise and Bobby Pradelski, Mark and Scott Wiggerman and brother, Jay. Monday, Mike Gavin and five close friends celebrated his birthday as he also became five years old. Jeff and Jay Connerty, Mike and Bobby Erickson, and Darrell Seliga attended his party. Not to be left out, Nancy Gavin also had a birthday party on Wednesday as she was hostess to six of her little friends. Among the guests were: Stevie Erickson; Lindav Kettner, Lance artd Loritt Toepper, and Joy and JUdy Vyduna. In celebration of both Mike and Nancy Gavin's birthdays, Harry and Grace entertained seventeen relatives for Sunday dinner. Among the guests was her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Saggio of Cleveland, Ohio, as well as both maternal and paternal grandparents, and the children's aunts and uncles. To complete the celebration former resident and good friend, Ricky Patula, now of Tulsa, Okla., called Sunday afternoon to wish Mike and Nancy a happy birthday.
