McCullom Lake RESIDENT OF MANY YEARS DIES IN NURSING HOME Eve Levesque In spite of many operations to arrest an incurable disease, Mrs. Myrtle M. Kinsey passed away in the Half Day nursing home last Sunday morning. It was one day before her fiftyninth birthday. Details appear elsewhere in the Plaindealer. Mvrt and Roy Kinsey were well known to many residents of the village and they lived here for more than 12 years in their home on N. Orchard and W. Parkview. About three and one half years ago, they decided to move to Port Charlotte, Fla. Roger and his wife, Grace, moved in to the family home at that time. During her many operations, Mryt's courage never wavered or faltered and she had high hopes for their success. Services were held Tuesday afternoon from the George Justen and Son Funeral home, with the Rev. Carder of Community Methodist church officiating. She was laid to rest in Woodland cemetery. Our deepest sympathy to Roy on the death of his beloved wife and to Marion and Roger who are well known in the village. Condolences also to the rest of the family during this time of bereavement. Ladies Of The Lake Hold Annual "Turkey Trot" "Fowl" language will predomiante at Whitey and Bernice's Saturday night when the Ladies of the Lake will hold their eighth annual "turkey trot" and fun fest. There are surprises galore in store for you. It will be an entertaining evening of games, food for every one attending. Your reporter and Lois Parenti will be your hostesses with able assistance from president the organization Elma Nelson and Marie Howe as chairman of refreshments. Put a big red circle around Nov. 17 and plan to join us for ,,a Jug. evening. Qacbelor.. Succumbs To Woman's Wiles One of our last hold-outs in the bachelor department joins the ranks of the "happily wed" on Dec. 1 when Larry Larsen of 4908 W. Fountain Laine repeats his "I will" with Miss Barbara Petersen of Palatine. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Earl Peterson. The nuptials will take place at the Emanuel Lutheran church. Palatine, at 3 p.m. They plan to honeymoon in Arizona and then will take up residence in the Larsen home on Fountain Lane. Larry is the son of Signe and the deceased Jvar Larsen. * Our very best wishes to the engaged couple. Schwanke and Terry Schmitt of McHenry. The little fella was born Oct. 8 in Memorial Hospital for McHenry County and weighed a plump 8 lbs., oz. He measured 20 inches from head to toe. Fortunately the family will come out even on the grapefruit because they already have Tammy, 3; Michael, 2; and Bryan, 1. In case you have forgotten, Phyllis, Dick and the children moved into the Joe Strudeman home on Knollwood Drive in August. Attending to his civic duties, Mr White registered promptly and cast his first ballot in precinct 12 last election day. Following the christening ceremonies, members of both fair lies gathered at the Whites for Sunday dinner, including the maternal and paternal grandparents -- Mr. and Mrs. Anton J. Schmitt and Mr. and Mrs. Charles White-- all of McHenry. Ladies Of The Lake Chet Helwig addressed the women's organization last Thursday. The gals have purchased an "out" building which will be utilized for a bus shelter for the school kids. It will be installed at gate 4. If this shelter is destroyed, there will be no others! Because of Thanksgiving falling on the regular meeting night, the women will again meet on Thursday, Nov. 29, which is the fifth Thursday of the month. Need Your Help!! Copy for the column must be turned in to the Plaindealer office tomorrow morning, so if you have any little gems, f'hevin's sakes -- please call 385-3191 this afternoon or tonight. We would very much appreciate knowing who will "break bread" at your home for the holiday, or where you plan to go for your Thanksgiving meal. Ring, telephone ring! The Plaindealer will comc out on Tuesday of next week. Cleaner Lake? Word was received from the Conservation Department by Gene Piotrowski that two thousand fingerling catfish were dumped in the lake on Oct. 31. They are great for cleaning up the lake and we hope it works. Did Your Vote Count? Sad we are to relate, two • ballots were cast out because of writing on them. One lady signed her name and another wrote "all the way." This is the bad news. The good news is that precinct 12 lead all the others in percentage of eligible voters who went to the polls in the seventeen precincts of McHenry township. How's that for a civic minded community! We were_.given credit for 73 percent but the actual number should have been almost 77 per cent. But it is still good. And what looks worse than candidates' posters the day after- election. Chairman of thf. "Republican Central Committee Jake Levesque made arrangements to have the village cleaned up the following day. All posters were removed immediately. Son Will Teach In New Zealand Next Year Adelaide and Walter Patzke returned from Gambier, Ohio, Sunday night after a week's visit with her son and wife, Dr. and Mrs. James D. Carney. They learned that the Carneys, both school teachers, will journey to New Zealand next year to be gone for 3. Dr. Carney, a teacher of philosophy at Kenyon College in Gambier, will teach that subject at the University of Otesio, in Otego province, Dunedin, New Zealand. His wife, Eliza, who instructs French at Kenyon will accompany him. At the end of the three year "hitch," they will be allowed a one year refresher in the states and then may return for another three years, if they so desire. Isn't this adventuresome? Dr. Carney is one of only two American professors who will be stationed there. The other is from Princeton University. The rest of the teaching staff will be English. Adelaide, who is a colorful personality herself, and Walter enjoyed their car trip and the visit. A Name For Their Boy! The shock of having a son was too much for Verna and chief of police Jack Schlofner and the little guy had to wait for a name. They came out of their rosy glow long enough to name him Thomas Glenn which sounds quite masculine.! We certainly are happy for the family. First Jet Ride Annie Nye became lonesome for her family and flew home to Detroit, Mich., over the weekend. She. stayed with her sister Mrs. Kathryn Goldstein, of that city. It was Anne's first experience in a jet, and she loved it, of course. Teens Collecting Can Goods Members of the Griffins have volunteered to collect canned goods and staple grocery items for the Ladies of the Lake. These will be offered at the Thanksgiving party Saturday night. Your cooperation will be appreciated. The Feud Is On! Harry McDade has submitted the challenge to McDonald's and .the two teams will meet at one of the local alleys Saturday night, to proclaim the victors in the bowling match. After the contest, members of the teams and their lady friends will meet for a night of revelry. Attends Mother In Illness ' Betty Tabor rushed to the side of her mother, Mrs. Dorothy Black, who was a patient at a hospital in LaPorte, Ind., where she underwent surgery lftst week. Nick drove to Indiana on Sunday to bring Betty home, reluctant as she vitas to leave her mom. The Institute for Safer Living reminds molorists that a crosswalk is intended as a place where pedestrians may cross the street in safety. This safety is jeopardized when thoy are forced to walk around a stopped car. if, ^ / I w 4UR MEATS YOUNG NORTHERN GROWN YOUNG TOMS--18-24 lbs. OVEN READY U.S. GOVT. YOUNG HENS 10-14 lbs.
