TUCKER AND DAUGHTER Joan Walczynskl 385-3105 % Several ladies gathered at the home of Lu Schultz on Thursday after noon to say good-bye to Mrs. Tucker and daughter, Pat. They have sold their home and are moving back to Chicago. Mrs. Tucker was very surprised, and tears filled her eyes as she said her good-byes. We all ^ wish her loads of luck in her new home. J Attends Wedding Gert Mackinson attended the wedding of her cousin's son. iler cousin flaw in from Veneuela to attend the wedding. Gert had a gala time hearing all about a different country. She also had a million questions to ask. It was a weekend she won't forget. Farewell Party f A going away party was held for AI and Nora Fritz at the home of his sister and brother-in-law in Glenview last Friday. The Fritzes will be leaving us soon. (More about this next week.) About thirty relatives and friends gathered to say good-bye. Johnsburg P.T.A. I The Johnsburg P.T.A. will 'be held on Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. The program for the night will bo a musical Thanksgiving and Christmas theme put on by the seventh and eighth grades. Let's all try to attend and show the kids we care. Sick List It seems like each week our list keeps getting longer, I .guess that's what we all hate ^about the season that is drawing closer. The Jablonski children all had their turns with colds. Mark Fredrick and his dad had the flu last week. Marilyn Kinder still isn't feeling like her old self. The Prell children are all sick wkh coughs. Hope everyone is fine by the time this column is printed. • (lirl Scout News Troop 295 held its Halloween party on Oct. 20. Each girl came in costume. At the party the girls played many games. Before it was over they had a delicious meal. Everyone had a wonderful time. Dinner Troop 295 held a dinner for 0 their mothers and past members of the troop. They had a delicious meal of Italian foods. Also, before dinner they received badges they had earned. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Visitors and Visiting Phil and Eleanor Mangold along with Linda and their grandson spent Saturday at the home of her sister in Ber- W wyn. Guests at the home of A1 and Nora Fritz for dinner Saturday were, Jim and Karen Feddeler and daughter, Kim, Gloria Boz?k and her future; husband, Pete. Rich and Kay Fredrick attended the wedding reception for Bob Meyer and his brido in Johnsburg Saturday night. The Gunthers had their son, w Bill, his wife, Joyce, and the two grandchildren, Denise and Laura, for dinner on Sunday and the junior family invited them to their new home fcr Thanksgiving dinner. Spending the weekend with the Kinders were Marilyn's folks from Chicago. The senior Harringtons entertained their son, Bill, and his family from Chicago on Sunday. Ollie Garner and friend, Barbara Reardon, made a day of it when they journeyed to the loop in Chicago. They first visited St. Peter's church, then they enjoyed a delicious dinner and finished by doing some early Christmas shopping. Error Little Donna Gaylord celebrated her second birthday not her third. Sorry I made that error. Brownies Troop 150 held their investiture on Saturday, Nov. 3, 9 to 11 a.m. at the Johnsburg school. Girls taking an active part in the presentation were Pamela Boger and Ausrey Seliea. Flag bearers;Debbie Jourdan and Carolyn Mierzwa. Color guards and Kathleen Pflug, who gave the introduction. They pioceeded with the Brownie story and song at which time the new Brownies recited their promise and gave the salute to leader Irene Selicra and were presented their Brownie pins by co-leader Carrie Jourdan. Irene and Carrie were invested by guest of honor Alice Bieschke. who hr»s lak en much of her time and trouble to help keep Troop 150 together. Enjoying the coffee and cupcakes after the program were all twelve mothers and some of the girl's families. The troop's regular meeting was held on Monday. They enjoyed some arts, sang songs, and had refreshments. Cookie hostess was Cheryl Kinder and mother helper was Carrie Jourdan. Irene Seliga attended a leader basic training course in M c H e n r y o n T u e s d a y a n d Thursday along with other new leaders in the area. Some interesting high 1 i t e s of the course included the flag ceremony and the respective jobs of each committee woman, coleader and the leader. The hours will be on Saturday only, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The library will be open for a half hour after every association meeting for the benefit of those who attend the meetings. The books taken out at this time nephew, Edward Panella, son of her sister, Dorothy, and Gino Panella, Chicago. Edward is a freshman and roommate to Pat Faunt of McHenry and las already been voted the most promising player of the year. Weekend guests of the Howard Secords were her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Frost of Grafton, Wis. Celebrating Terry Connerty's first birthday, the Connerty family spent the weekend at her mother's, Mrs. Meyers, in Chicago as they visited friends. Spending a recent weekend with his parents, Fred and Carrie Woerner, was Fred Woerner of Dallas, Texas. Sunday dinner guests in honor of Fred's visit were their daughter, Barbara, husband. Chuck, and grandsons, David and Ross Runyon, of Elk Grove. The George Meckos received word that Joseph Hlavaty died of cancer on Friday, Nov. 2. Mr. Hlavaty is the father of George's s i s t e r-in-law, Ann Mecko, who resides in Florida. Holy Name See School Fire Film Last Tuesday the regular monthly meeting of the Holy Name society was held in the Johnsburg community hall. After the meeting a film of the "Fire of the Our I^idy of Angels school" was snbwn. We are sorry to report that A1 Rogers of Fox Lake road suffered a heart attack last Saturday in Chicago. He is confined at the Mother Cabrini hospital. We wish A1 a speedy recoveiy and hope to see him home soon. Please remember him with a card. We hope Rosemary Thelen is feeling better after her unpleasant experience last Sunday on her way home from church. Christmas is not too far off and if you have last year's cards around the house and want to dispose of them please give Mabel Gregg a call at HYatt 7-3189. She will be happy to take them off your hands and see that they get into the hands of a missionary who uses them in his work. Just cut off the names and messages. You might clip this item and save it for future reference. It seems a shame to burn them when children less fortunate than ours can make use of them. The response for Dep Mothers has not been overwhelming to say the least. In order to keep the Dens alive Jean Hillstrom has come forth to offer her services but the need for more Mothers is great and since the boys are so interested in Scouting the Mothers should be equally interested in seeing to it there are enough dens. We are sure there will be many calls with every one making holiday plans. Nov. 10, Bill and Emma Rosengart and Anna Cohrs were evening guests of Roy and Gert Snell. They enjoyed an evening of cards and enjoyed a delicious snack. Tommy Sabielny and Donald Jenkins are the two latest victims of the stomach flu that is making the rounds in the Highlands. Scout News Last Sunday, Nov. 4, the boys from Pack 452 enjoyed a tour of the McHenry Fire department. The Scouts report the firemen were very cooperative and more than willing to show them every thing arid how things work in a busy station. They enjoyed seeing the fire trucks, radio and all the necessary things vital to conducting a well organized station. The next meeting of the Cub Scouts was held Nov. 14 at the Mount Hope church hall. At this meeting the new boys were initiated into the Pack and received their Bob Cat pins. Joan Megley, who has two dens to cope with, combined the two for her Halloween affair and the older boys and the younger boys each made gifts to exchange at the meeting. The older boys made taffy apples and the refreshments for the younger group. Den mother, Joan Megley, had a very interesting program for the boys as she does for every meeting. Johnsburg P.T.A. On Nov. 20 the Johnsburg school P.T.A. will hold its meeting at the school. The Thanksgiving Vacation will begin at the close of school on Nov. 21 and classes will resume on No. 26. Tom Mason and his brotherin- law attended the opera last Monday at the Ojiera House in Chicago. The opera was the Marriage of Figaro. Pat Jackson, brother, Ron, and family were weekend guests at the Jacksons last week. Belated happy birthday to Joe Chutka on Nov. 4 and to JoAnn Chutka on Nov. 5. Don Morin's father celebrated his birthday here with his wife, Don, Audrey and three grandsons on Nov. 10. Billy and Ernie Jones visited Billy's mother in Chicago last Sunday. A speedy recovery is wished for Pastor Smith who is in McHenry hospital suf f e r i n g from pneumonia. He entered the hospital on Nov. 7. Vandalism has been going on in the Highlands for the past 10 days. On Halloween night windows in the model home on Rt. 12 were broken. A rock was thrown through the Janquarts' picture window, storm window and tore one drape to shreds, rocks were pegged at the siding of the Leuth home. At the Janquarts' home their five year old son was sleeping on the floor where he fell asleep watching T-V. and luckily he was covered with a blanket when the window smashed. Glass was all over the living room and the blanket was peppered with glass. Then on Nov. 7 windows were broken and a coin collection was stolen from a home on Page Sevnt--a Rand Drive and on the same evening someone shot the windows out of Grace Reinhardt's car. It was parked "fif" her OWN drive. Little Jerry Janquart was home from school last week with a sore throat and sister, Jeanhe, was also home trying to get rid of a few germs.
