It's been a quiet week here in the Shores with most of us staying at home and keeping warm. There's noti too much news to report but k guess it's ^ always that way just before w the holidays. Party for BexSt Ann Beth Ann Lexow was one year old last Wednesday. Nov. 7, and her birthday was celebrated with a party on Saturday. Attending the birthday dinner were Joyce's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson; Howie's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. ^ C. Wood of Palatine with their w daughter, Phyliss, end their son and daughter-in-»law, Mr. and IVfrs.-fT Wood of Cary; Howie's brother) and sister-inlaw, Mr. alid. ,JMrs. Don Lexow of Waucorda. After dinner the Musielaks dropped by and the evening ended with a bit of dancing. New Jersey Trip for M Surprise Party ™ The Winters family flew to New Jersey last week for a visit with Sam's parents and also to attend an anniversary party in honor of the senior Winters. The party was a complete surprise to the guests of honor who were celebrating their fortieth wedding anniversary. Present at the Samuel Tv Winters' New Jersey homt? Jk were many close friends and those in the immediate family. Visits with Sister Mrs. Pearl Paulin snent a pleasant four days in the city visiting with her sister, Mrs. Rose Hudon. During Mrs. Paulin's stay, her sister entertained her French Club. Several of the twelve women in the club went to school with Mrs. Paul- 5h (St. Joseph's^ and they spent the afternbon talking and lvmhtfrscing -over old times, •and how things have changed. Keep Roads Clear for Plow Mr. Simboorger, our road ^commissioner, has asked me tc remind everyone that winter •snows are on their way and the snow plow not far behind. All roads must be kept clear of cars if the snow plow is tc get through to do its work. Please keep cars in the driveway and if yon have two .cars try to keep them both off the roadways. This will be a great help Sn keeping <our roads snow free Uhis winter. Pre-Thanksgivfcig tMnnfr Dance Mr. and Mi's. iRnmage and a group of fifteen attended the lion's Club pre-ThanTcsgtvinp dance and buffet dinner last Wednesday night. It was a very nice affair and -everyone seemed to enjoy themselves The proceeds for this and all other Lion's Club doings as mobti of us know, go to the blind. Birthday Dinner Another birthday dinner in the subdivision was given for Charlie on Sunday. Ten guests attended this affair and Charlie had a very happy birthday. Smorgasbord Dinner The Community Methodist church sponsored a delicious smorgasbord dinner again this, year. Filling up on the good food were the Lexows, Pinkonsleys, Ramages. Tan n e r s. Ziemets, Winters, MacCuIlums. (Gus^ Smiths. Hastings. Middlekaufffs. Ewalds, Schopps, and Olbinskis. Xobodv Home It seems that the Winters and the Brunkes had quite a time last week one evenin;/ trying to find something to do. After discovering that it was too late to go to the show thov started out with a tour of the subdivision in the hopes of visiting a few friends. M r . L e g g e passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, in his hemp. Mr. and Mrs. Legge were one df the first settlers here in Lilymoor. They were formerly of Elmhursl. They first became •summer residents, then year round residents, some twenty odd years ago. They had celebrated their fiftv-sivth wedding anniversary last March. came to the Vilim household where they at last found the family in. They spent the eve: nine over coffee and chatter. V.F.W. Luncheon • Daisy Smith attended a luncheon for the Ladies auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Iliinois last Saturday. As Senior vice-president she presented a gift to the department president. Mrs. Lillian Buczynski. from the presidents and past presidents club of Illinois. Sowing Club Joyce Lexow entertained the sewing club last week. Over coffee and dessert the girls put the finishing touches on a number of hand sewn items and it was decided that the next meeting would be held on Nov. 20 at my home. Red Letter Days A big happy birthdav on Nov. 19 to Pat Burke, Carole Viehwes and Pat Mueller. Another big birthday wish to Henry Peters. Elsie Schmilt. Bonnie Schopn artd Sam Winters on Nov. 21. Today is the wedding anniversary of Frank and Helen Jacek. Maj' you have a very nice day. Like Ida, Mr. Legge had many friends here in Lilymoor. Library Fond Drive There has been some confusion locally concerning the current drive for funds for the McHenry library expansion program. Many folks in this area are under the impression that the money is to be used for the McHenry-Nunda township district library in Lakemoor. This is not so. The McHenry fund drive is covering not only the city but the entire surrounding area, and of course, "the library is open to anyone from Lilymoor and the other settlements near McHenry. Auxiliary News The Woman's auxiliary held its monthly meeting Monday, Nov. 5. At this meeting the new officers and board of directors were installed for the coming year. Lee Bassi was the installing officers. Those who will serve as board of tW-- rectors are Li! Wijas. Helen Rodde, Diane Fuhler and Marion Leske. The "new officers for the following year are CoWiiie Johnson, president; Toni Ehredt, vice-president; Shirley Sc.huerr, secretary and Lil Neumann, treasurer. The auxiliary cut-going president, P e a r 1 e Stineman, received a gift from the auxiliary for doing such a fine job as president for the last two years. After the installation of officers and board of directors three committees were formed for the next three months "December, January and February. They are welfare and welcoming committee Marylyn Lo- Presti and Lee Bassi. Entertainment, ways aiid means committee P e a r 1 e Stineman and Ruth Young. Membership committee M avion Vornkahl and Eunice Tobey. Hostess for the November meeting were Helen Rodde and Ruth Young. Yours truly oricd a few dishes. The momhlv prize was won by Lil Neumann. The next monthly meeting will be held Monday. A Surprise A baby shower was held for Mrfe. Josie Gore < the former Josie Bellino) Sunday, Ocl. 28. The wee-one to be received many beautiful gifts. Mr. Stork has informed this reporter that we will have to wait till the end of December to see if Tena and Joe Bellino are going to be proud grandparents to. a boy or a girl. anniversary Sunday, T^ov. John cut his fingers badly and eleven stitches were required to close up the cuts. - I am glad to report that Fred Svoboda was not seriously hurt in the accident he had Sunday, Nov. 4.
