Joseph Blitsch officiated at the baptismal ceremony for Susan Marie Eichhorn at St. John's church on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 11. Her godparents were Ann and Bob Orgler of Round Lake. Ann is a sister to Susan's daddy, Andrew Eichhorn. Following the ceremony, Andrew and Joanne hosted a dinner for the family i n c l u d i n g t h e g o d p a r e n t s and their five children; Joanne's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Clark: her sisters and brother, Jackie, Pat, Christine and Harry, Jr.; and her married sister, Carol Yant, and son, Mike. Also Andrew's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Eichhorn; his brother and family; Jim and Mary Eichhorn and their two children. All these folks come from Round Lake. Everyone had a lovely time, which Joanne tells.me wouldn't, have been possible without the help of her -• grand neighbor, Carol Kennebeck. Oh, yes,- and let's not forget to mention Susan Marie's big brother, Andy, without whom the day wouldn't have been complete. Joan Stull and Pat Brennan all of Troop 88, attended the Girl Scout neighborhood meeting. Any number of important things were taken care of. Party Girl Mary Jane Lakowske was guest of honor at a party cele- j *^-e twenty-sixth to Ruth and Happy Occasions In listing the birthdays of Nov. 21 in my column last week I overlooked one: George Kropf, Jr., who celebrates his ??? birthday. Happy birthday, Georgie! And today we begin with Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22. Greetings on this holiday to Kelly Bute who will be eight years old and also to our friend and neighbor, Allen Kimbro; on Nov. 23 to Jackie Smolinski and Helge Dettlow; on Nov. 24 to Charlotte Gehrke who will be sweet sixteen this year; on Nov. 25 to Ray Kropf who will be that magic age of eighteen; to Diane Noah who will be seven years old and to Leonard Gunn; on Nov. 26 to Mickey Siepman who will be seven years old; and on Nov. 28 to Sherwood Palmer who will be ten years old and to our own darling daughter, Judy, who will turn twelve this time around. The best of everything to all of you. Anni versa r y greetings go this week to the following couples on -Nov. 23 to Gloria and Ernie VonOepen who will celebrate five years of wedded bliss; and on Nov. 26 to Dolores and Tom Hanahan who will chalk up seven years of manned happiness and also on brating her birthday. Her natal day was actually Nov. 9. but the party was held the next day. Her guests included Debbie and Donna Noah, Debbie VonObstfelder, Linda Ros i e r ; K a r e n H e t t e r m a n n and Rosemary Thel en. The daybeing the lovely one it was weather-wise, the girls played numerous games out-of-doors, before they came in to play some more, as well as danced. When they had had their fill of that, Mother Betty served barbecue, potato chips and soda, plus ice cream cake. The entire party was a huge success and every young lady went home happy with a caramel apple and cut-outs. Helge Dettlow who will cele brate thirty-eight years of married togetherness. Congratulations to all of you, and many, many more to follow. Guest ^Millie and George Kropf had a-guest last week, which I forget to mention. Mill's sister. Vi Crane, spent a few days of a-week's vacation with them. Naturally, Mill enjoyed it because it gave her a chance to get out shopping, etc. * - - Sympathy Our J. sympathy to Mill and Vi on the death of their uncle at Chicago. Civil Defense There will be an open meeting on civil defense held on Nov. 29 at the community club hall at 8 p.m. Everyone and anyone who is the slightest bit interested in this matter (as all of us should be) should plan on attending. They have quite a program lined up including a guest speaker, film strip, etc. Also free refreshments will be served. If you have any questions on this matter the gentlemen in our community who you may contact are Dale Maule, Jim Fuqua and Roy Schroeder. Signing Off Well, that about does it for this time. Hope you all enjoy the holiday tomorrow. We all have very much to be thankful for; I know that just a prayer of thanks couldn't begin to repay the Good Lord for all He gives to us every day of every year. Call me if you will with your holiday news and I'll see you next week. 'Bye now! VJ-.W. Auxiliary News Girl Scouts Troop 295 held its weekly meeting at the home of Mrs. Palmer, their leader. After the usual business meeting, the girls spent the afternoon making bean bag games to take along on our Christmas jaunt this year. Refreshment hostess was Cheryl Patterson. Oh, yes. and I forgot to mention last week that since our elected treasurer, Melinda Long, had decided to drop out of Scouts, the girls elected Kathy Barth to take her place. God Speed I guess this is a good spot to mention that one of our most fervent Scouts entered the hospital on Nov. 16 to undergo major surgery on Nov. 17. Kathy Palmer is quite a little trooper and takes just everything in her stride. All her fellow Scouts had their minCs and hearts with her on Saturday, when we held the weekly meeting at our house. God speed Kathy and enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner at horr.t as planned. More Girl Scouts Troop 88 will hold its weekly meeting this evening and plan on spending it gettin? ready for their overnighter planned for next Fridny and Saturday, Nov. 23 and 24.
