Two of the fatalities occurred on the highway, and a third in one of the large industrial plants. Two counly youths were k i l l e d S a t u r d a y a f t e r n o o n when their car apparently crossed the center line and struck the front of another auto. The dead were George William Hoey, Jr.. 20, of Harvard. and George Bantley, 18, of Hebron. Hoey was driving on Rt. 14 when his car struckthe left front of another auto driven by Eugene P. Elyea of Woodstock. The Hoey vehicle then left the road and struck a utility pole before coming to a rest upside down in a field. Both young people were thrown from 'the car and later pronounced dead on arrival at Memorial hospital. Their deaths brought the 1962 county highway toll to thirty-eight thus far. The third fatality was recorded just prior to the holiday when John Hooper, 48, of Harvard became entangled in a machine at the Starline plant in that city. He suffered head injuries which caused his death before arrival at Harvard hospital. Hooper and several other employees were reported to have been working over-1ime making repairs on a large steel press machine used to form large sheets of steel for dairy barn equipment manufactured at the plant. He leaves his wife and two children, 16 and 7 years of age. AREA CRASHES CAUSE INJURY TO MOTORISTS (Continued from Page 1) Musin' & Meanderin' (Continued from Page 1) Some Christmas card books attempt to clarify the situation, and for those who do not have access to them, the following hints may be helpful. When the plural of the family name ends in "o". or "y", just add an "s". When the plural ends in "s", "x", "z", "ch" or "sh", then add "es." Never use the apostrophe in a family name to indicate plural! A comma always precedes junior, but is never used before the word "and." When titles are used, the husband's title always comes first (Mr. and Mrs. John Jones) but without title, either name may come first (John and Mary Jones or Mary and JoKti Jones). With children's names added, the father's namt dlways comes first. Now, now many of us will find the time to remember the rules in the last minute scurry of sending out cards? Mrs. E thel Hornby, home economics teachcr in the local high school, was honored recently when she was elected chairman for 1963-64 of the Illinois vocational teachers of District 21, which includes all vocational schools in the nor1 heaslcrn part of the state. She was elected to the post at the annual business meeting held in Barrington. Dan Lawniczak of 1215 W. ay road. McHenry, told State Jiceman Werner that he drove off the road to avoid striking an unidentified driver travelling toward him, and his vehicle then struck a tree. Lawniczak was taken to McHenry hospital, where he was found to be suffering compound fractures of both legs, a broken nose, possible brain concussion, internal injuries and cut tongue. Dixie Miller was reported to have been injured at 9:30 last week Wednesday evening when she lost control of her car on Rt. 31, north of Johnsburg. It skidded into a ditch and overturned. The driver sustained a broken jaw and nose and was cut about the face. Clarence Ullman of Wonder Lake was blamed by sheriff's police for an accident in which his car crashed into the rear of a parked truck near Rt. 120. Ullman was treated for injuries in McHenry hospital. He told authorities he failed to see the truck in time to stop. The car is reported to have skidded a considerable distance on the pavement before hitting the other vehicle. The driver suffered minor injuries. An interesting note, with a request for the hometown paper, was received this week from Mrs. Robert E. Meyer, now residing in Phoenix. Ariz. Long time residents of McHenry, the Meyers moved West some time ago and find an ideal winter climate in their new home. K. A. F. "This connects the call with the DDD equipment." The dialing of "1" appll^ only when you call outside OT" McHenry or Pistakee Highlands.
