Page Fourteen THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER MOOSE LODGE Women of the Moose Our regular meeting of the Women of the Moose held on Nov. ?0 was our green cap night honoring our green cap girl, Ethel Bruce. This had been planned for many weeks as a surprise but at an out of town visit the cat was let out of the bag. Even though the night, itself was not a surprise there were many things about the evenings plans that Ethel did not know about. We were so sorry that due to the conflict in dates that many of the chapters invited were unable to attend. Rockford Chapter had extended an invitation to our green cap girl and she had planned to attend until she found out about our surprise. Junior Regent Olga Johnson was in charge of the meeting due to the illness and absence of our Senior Regent Alyce Kowal. Sorry you are ill Alyce ,and couldn't be with u«. Our charter was draped for thirty days for our departed coworker, Myrtle Kinsey, who passed away on Nov. 11. Our guest green cap girls filled chairs as officers. They were as follows: Senior Recent. Alice Young. Antioch; Junior Graduate Regent. L^lia Saben, Forest Park .Tun i or Regent, Arlene Battisfore, Waukegan; Chaplain, Inez Krueger. Woodstock: Guide, Ilene Lee, B e l v i d e r e : A s s i s t a n t Guide, Lucille Bosworth, Elmhurst. These girls plus the'other co-workcrs who helped by filling the chairs did a very wonderful job on performing the ritualistic ceremony. Alice Young and Olga Johnson presented our green cap girl, Ethel Bruce, and our speaker for the evening, Mabel Thomas, a member of the College of Regents of our Chapter with beautiful corsages from the McHenry Chapter. Our speaker had the honor of being Ethel's capping officer. As speaker Mabel gave a brief "This is Your Moose Life Ethel" talk. This book was then presented to Ethel for a keepsake. This was one of the surprises that was truly a surprise to'TSthel. Ethel expressed her thanks to all who worked and helped to make this honor possible. This is not only an honor for Ethel but for the Chapter and every member of the chapter. Another highlight of the evening was the enrollment of a new co-worker into our defending circle. A very warm welcome to co-worker Mary Day from all of us. Her sponsor, Marcella Strossner, was absent t h e r e f o r e , Marcel 1 e Carlson acted as pro-temsponsor. The visiting green cap girls were escorted to the altar and at this time were presented with a small gift from the Chapter. Ethel also expressed her thanks to these girls for attending and making this night a green cap night to remember. Following the close of the meeting a special prize was awarded Florence Tussey, a member of our Chapter. Several of the co-workers from the visiting chapters also took home beautiful gifts. Ila Hogan of our chapter was awarded a b e a u t i f u l c e n t e r p i e c e which she presented as a gift to our green cap girl, Ethel Bruce. At this time Ethel was presented^ with a gift from the chapter and several of her coworkers. While the refreshments were being completed everyone participated in a penny sale. This is a novel and seldom heard of sale. Everyone seemed to enjoy it very much. Delicious refreshments were prepared and served by the library committee and other members. Our thanks to these girls for working so hard to make this a wonderful night. The total number of coworkers attending was fiftytwo. Eighteen of these were from McHenry. The rest were: Antioch, two; Waukegan, nine; Forest Park, one; Woodstock, twelve; Belvidere, four; ElmhUrg't, one; and Fox Lake, five. It was nice to have these co-workers with us. Please hurry back to see us. Don't forget our next meeting will be held on Dec. 4. At this meeting we will plan our Christmas party. Please make a special effort to attend this meeting. On Sunday, Dec. 2, the homemaking committee with Jean Green as chairman will hold a'style show. The models on this day will be the young children of Moose members. Tickets, for this affair may be purchased from Jean Green or at the door that day. On Nov. 19 Fox Lake Chapter held its green cap chapter night. Ethel Bruce, our green cap girl, filled the chair as junior regent for the evening. This night was in 1 nnor of their green cap girl, Lucille Rinda. Although she was ill and unable to attend her chapter and all other visiting coworkers were thinking of her and washing her a speedy recovery. Green cap girls were present from the following Crystal Lake. Rock Island was represented by two co-work - ers. There was a total of fortyone members present. Five of these were from McHenry. Green cap girl Ethel Bruce, college of regents member Mabel Thomas, Marjorie Fernstrom, Recorder, Ethel Hagberg, Treasurer and Marion Pflug, escort for Ethel. Speaker for the evening was Imogene Ruckstuhl of Crystal Lake Chapter, a former Deputy Grand Regent from tho State of Illinois. We always have a good time at Fox Lake and this time it was even better. Many beautiful gifts were given and McHenry was very happy to take two of them home. Mabel received a beautiful artificial bird in a cage and Ethel received a beautiful centerpiece. We were so sorry that Lucille missed her night because Fox Lake Chapter really went all out to honor their first green cap girl.
