The weatherman held true to his prediction for good weather and .the Scouts all report they hail a very good time. Cub Scouts Cub Scouts and parents, Jusi a reminder, please get your gift for the Woodstock children's home into your Den mother before Dec. 10. This plea also includes your cookies, canned goods and clothing. The pack has received about fifty books and some canned goods already from the Les Eckhart family and many clean, reusable clothing items 'rom Marie Kwiateks's Den No. 4. Any cub who has not received the name of the child he is to buy a gift for, please contact your den mother. There are fifty children and we don't want any one going without a gift from Pack 459. Any of you Lakeland Park residents who have no one in our pack and would care to share in the giving, we'll be more than happy to pick up anything you may care to give. Our den mothers are Esther Cygan, Jessie Matthew, Betle Kamp, Marie Kwiatek and Agnes Prazak. The Pack leaders, feel we should all remember that the true meaning of Christmas is giving. This is something the Cubs have all accepted very wonderfully. We know they will enjoy their own day even more knowing they helped some less fortunate child. A Successful Snowball Dance A great big hand of applause to all who helped to make our snowball dance a success. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Shirley. Koch and her committee did a marvelous job on decorating the hall. It looked just beautiful. Happy Birthday Wishes to Dave Druml who is 18 years old today, Dec. 6. and to Cindy Kamp who is 6 years old and Gregg Mayer who will be 11 years both on Dec. 8. Also to Phil Bucaro who will be 13 years old Dec. 9, to Davey Wickenkamp vVho will be 6 year old Dec. 10 and to Mike Johnson who will be 13 years on Dec 11. We hope your birthdays will be happy ones. Birthday Doings Clark Bierman had a party for his eighth birthday on Monday. Nov. 26. His guests were David Wagner. Robby Wiekenkemn. Tommy Kosieki. Marty Apel. Stosh and Susan Pankiewicz. Leah Rode, Norbie Kwiatek. Lance Kuhns, and his brothers and sis<er. Jeff, John and Veronica. His mom served cake, ice cream, pon and candy and they all enjoyed games afterwards. Del Gerstad had the privilege of being an ange' in the Hansel and G ret el portion of the McHenry choral club's Christmas program. This program was vfery enjoyable and really put you in the Christmas spirit. Boy Scout Troop 469 Boy Scout Troop 459 is very happy to announce the appointment of Billy Seifert as scribe for the troop and also' that of Dennis Druml as librarian. Both of these boys are first class Scouts and patrol leaders. Their new appointments will be of great help to the adult leaders. Saturday of last week, part of the troop were taken on a ten mile hike by assistant Scoutmaster, Joe Prazak. Joe teaches second Spring Grove SODALITY GIVES CHBISTMA&-GIFTS TO NEWMAN CENTER Eva Freund At the annual Christmas party of the Christian Mothers Sodality of St. Peter's this year the ladies will "Stuff a Stocking" for Newman. Newman is^ the Catholic youth center at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. In the spirit of giving this time of year, let us be generous to this worthy cause. A large stocking will be hung on the tree and all contributions may ! be placed in this Christmas stocking. . j The party, beginning with a pot-luck supper at 7:30 p.m. I on Thursday, Dec. 20, will be held in the parish hall. There will be a'gift exchange when Santa ar rives to give out the j rifts. An interesting program ! is being planned. Father Hoffman has graciously consented to show some of his slides. Preceding the | meeting the men were served a delicious roast beef dinner by the ladies of St. Peter's parish. Holy Name Breakfast Members of the Holy Name society of St. Peter's will be served breakfast in the parish hall following the eight o'clock Mass when the society will receive Holy Communion in a body. A committee of ladies from the parish will cook and serve. Blue Bundles Ron and Jackie Creutz are the proud parents of a baby. Thomas William was born Nov. 30 at Woodstock hospital. He weighed in at 7 lbs., 6% ozs. and was 20inches long. Our •congratulations to you both. Sympathy Our heartfelt sympathy goes to the Fosczcz family on the death of their one month old son, Glen Alan. Cocktail Parties Shirley and Max Koch had a' pre-dance' cocktail party at their home for Shirley and Marv George, and Barb and Hon Meurer. Jan and Bob Kozy also had a cocktail party before the dance for Doris and Ed Bock, Rita and Jerry Hooker, Mimi and Dave Ladd, Peggy and Pete Kasper, Adelle and Joe Guzzo and Buzzy and Ron Miyaki. After the dance Toots a n d D o n G e r s t a d s e r v e d scrambled egus and bacon for the above couple? with the exception of Rita and Jerrv Hooker. Visitors and Visiting Kathy Mester. Sue Gri/ely's sister, spent the weekend with them tc baby sit while they attended ihe dance. Jan and Bob Kozy attended the first anniversary party for friends, Carol and Richard Hill of .Arlington Heights, on Sunday afternoon. About twentyfive people attended the Cele-' hration. Bazaar The Christmaf hazaar sDonsored by the WSCS of the Methodist church held at the town hall on Saturday was well attended throughout the day and into the evening. The bazaar was held on a "Country Store" theme and many beautiful and useful Christmas items were on display and available to those who came in to browse. Refreshments were also served. Stationed in North Dakota A3C Daniel N. Freund has received his assignment as personnel technician at Grand Forks Air Force base in North Dakota following eight weeks of basic training at Lackland AMB, Texas. He was home on leave over the Thanksgiving holidays and left for North Dakota on Nov. 25. Added Service at Post Office for Christmas To help persons with their Christmas mailing, Postmaster Eva Freund states that the post office at Spring Grove Will be open during the noon hour beginning Dec. 15 through Dec. 22, inclusive. This does not include Sunday, Dec. 16, when the. post office will be open until 5:30' p.m. Please ^ sure to buy your stamps in advance and place them on your cards and letters before placing them in the box for collection. Your carrier has a supply of stamps with him and you may buy them from him. A plan was revealed for the construction of a full size Y.M.C.A. building with indoor pool, gym, and studeni facilities. Dick McMoran of the Northern Illinois area explained ilie comprehensive purpose and function of ihe Y.M.C.A. In this he mentioned that there are some fifty Separate activities that may be undertaken. People of all ages, and creed* participate in these programs. Each individual "Y" organization operates on its own and is locally contiolled - and financed by the area it serves.
