Several groups are making final plans for their Christmas parties in spite bf the unseasonable weather. Besides - the" exchange gift, each mem- ^ bring twenty-five cents to defray the cost of food. Also remember girls, this meeting counts in your attendance record for the spring bus trip. Be sure to be present and have fun. The lady Foresters will have their annual Christmas gettogether on Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m. with a pot-luck supper. Later a gift exchange and a social evening of plain old fun is planned. Each member who plans to attend this holiday party are asked to please bring a dish to pass, a fifty cent exchange gift and an item for the Sisters kitchen shbwer. Announces Engagement Another of our younger set was the recent recipient of a beautiful diamond ring. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Miller announce the engagement of their daughter. Georgette Ann, to Gerry Sobiek of Argo, 111., recently. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin B. Sobiesk of that city. No definite plans have been- made for the wedding as yet. To Georgette, who is a senior student at St. Theres's school of nursing, and her husbandto- be, we wish loads of health and happiness in the years ahead. Comstock Baby Baptized The infant daughter of Dick and Gloria Comstock was baptized on Nov. 25 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at St. John's church by Father Blitsch. Patricia Ann had Mrs. Frank Oeffling and Ed. Comstock as her sponsors. Dinner was served to the godparents and the baby's great-grandmother, Mrs. Lehmann, later in the Comstock home. People on the Go Mr. and Mrs. Steve Schmitt returned to their home in St. Petersburg, Fla., last week after spending several days here in the John Thelen home. They were called home by the death of his sister, Mrs. Emma Bertrang. While here they also visited other "relatives and friends. The Paul, Pitzen family and Nick Pitzen spent last Sunday visiting in the home of George and Berniece Haushefer ana family in Chicago. Spending a most enjoyable weekend in Milwaukee recently was Mr. and Mrs. Art Thelen and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Adams. They were guests in the Nick Miller home. They also visited the Don Monte family while there. Hospital Patients Ray Tansey returned to his home earlier this week after s p e n d i n g s o m e t i m e i n t h e Sherman hospital in Elgin. He underwent surgery there and is now doing his recuperating at home. Entering the Woodstock hospital on Nov. 27 was George Michels. We all hope he will soon be able to be up and around again as his "jovial old self," real soon. Our wishes for a speedy recuperation period is extended to both Ray and "Uncle" George. Double Celebration The John Thelen home was the scene of a double birthday celebration last Sunday. The family gathering honored Mrs. Thelen whose birthday is Dec. 4 and Vern Thelen whose birthday is Dec. 3. Joining in on the festivities wei'e the families of Ray and Vern Thelen and James Hunter. This troop continues to work on their current sewing project. Some girls are just about through. On Dec. 19, the Scouts will put on a fashion show for their mothers and fathers. They will model what they have made "in the recent weeks of sewing. Troop 389 began last week's meeting with the flag ceremony. Flag bearers were Debbie Hammon and Cathy Freund, color bearers were Julie Oeffling and Pam Pechous. The Brownies began work on their C h r i s t m a s p r o j e c t s . Fire and Rescue Squad Calls The firemen of station 2 an- McHenry county residents purchased a total of $71,044 in series £ and H United States savings bonds in October, according to Harold J. BacoTi uf Crystal Lake, general county chairman of the savings bands committee. Sales of both 9eries in the state of Illinois totalled $26,- 126,505, which is 8.& per cent below last year's total for the month according to Arnold J. Rauen of McHenry, state director of the U. S. savings bonds division. Illinois sales accounted for 7.2 per cent of the national total, which was $360, 000,000. Hie Johnsburg rescue squad also answered two calls last week. One took them to St. John's church where a worker fell twenty-three feet from a scaffold. He was taken to the McHenry hospital in the squad ambulance. In the wee hours of Sunday morning the squad members were summoned to an accident scene on Bay road near the Skidmore bridge. A car hit the ditch and the driver suffered lacerations. He was taken to the hospital for further treatment. The rescue squad would also like to remind those of the Johnsburg-Pistakee area about the new vehicle stickers for ,^963.
