They also visited friends in Deerfield Park, relative* in Miami, and watched the parade on New Years day. Going along with them was daughter, Linda, and niece, Mary Ann Bell. After the usual business, the boys practiced tieing their scarves, games were played and then the .boys carved with soap. Fund Drive The women who collected for the recent Cerebral Palsy drive ifceived a warm welcome and generous donations in the village. Visiting and Visitors The Crowleys enjoyed Sunday dinner with daughter, Pat and family in Clarendon Hills. The Fredrick family enjoyed having Rich's dad from Wisconsin as an overnight guest Tuesday. The Lehmans spent a week at the home of their daughter, Edith, in Pell Lake, Wis. Gert Mackinson served a delicious supper Thursday night to daughter, Helen, husband, Reiney, and their son, C. G., from Deerfield. The LaBays helped the F. Schmitts celebrate their anniversaiy Tuesday by having dinner in Crystal Lake. Surgery for Two Bud Pflug has just returned home after surgery for a knee injury, Bud is in a cast and will be home for several weeks. Also having surgery was Eleanor Mangold's father. At last report he was doing fine. Hospit.'il Visit Little Ricky Garlinski was rushed to McHenry hospital Saturday with a bad case of inflammation of the stomach. This little fella was a very sick boy for a few days, but with God's care he is now on his way to recovery. Home For A Vtfttt Hank and Clara Nell recently enjoyed a two week visit from their daughter, Ethel. Miss Nell who resides with her sister in East Orange, N.J., flew in to spend a winter vacation with her parents. Holy Name To Welcome New Members At the next regular meeting of the Hdly Name Society, a reception of new members will be held. This meeting will be held in the community club hall on Sunday evening, Feb. 10. Members please keep this date in mind. Pancake Breakfast Coming Up Well Mothers, come Sunday morning, Feb. 3, you can play "Queen for a Morning" and go out for breakfast.. The C. Y. J. is sponsoring a pancake and sausage breakfast on this date following all the Masses. at St. John's church. Get the family together and plan on having breakfast in the community club hall. 0 The P.T.A. of the Spring Grove Elementary school will hold a fund raising card party on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 8 p.m., in the gymnasium of the new school. Refreshments will be served. Visual f»id equipment and sports equipment and other items are still needed and the funds will be used for these things. AD the young people will benefit 'from these endeavors. Just a comment, our Christmas play was a hu#e success. Much credit should go. to the combined efforts, of our three teachers, Mi*s. H. Infield, Mrs. J. Thomson and Mi's. R. Larson of our faculty. Mrs. Gloria Ritt was the music teacher who holds class once a week at our school. Several mothers assist* ed in getting the draperies rcatfy for the stage. All in all a worthy effort which proved to lie a wonderful presentation of talent and cooperation. Double Birthday Celebration The Williams family visited with the Roggenbuchs Sunday. While everyone was busy, Susan baked a birthday cake for La- Marr and her father. Everyon? had a good time at the surprise party. Sick List Julia Siebert was in bed all week with the flu. Mike Jab- Ions ki had to stay home for a few days with stomach flu. Jean Garlinski had a bad case of tonsillitis. Kathleen Pflug had the mumps, then passed them on to her brother, Buddy. Stevie Williams was home from school with the stomach flu Wednesday. Hope everyone is feeling better now. Girl Foresters The girl foresters held their meeting on Monday, Jan. 14. Here is a list of winners in the final dance contest. Twist, Joan LaFontaine, Barbara Himplemann, Mary Ellen Note Of Sadness This item is one of the hardest I've ever had to write in my ten years with this paper. It concerns the recent death of my mother-in-law, Mi's. Helen Hettermann. "Ma," as she was known to just about everyone passed away at the McHenry hospital early Tuesday morning, Jan. 15. She had been a patient there for twenty-five days. Her body rested at the George Justen funeral home until Friday morning when final rites took place. Her nephew, Father Raymond Hettermann, of Menominee, participated in the requiem Mass at St. John's church. She was laid to rest in the church cemetery. "Ma" will be missed by not only her family but those who knew her. She was well known for lending a helping hand whenever it was needed. Friends and relatives from all parts of Wisconsin and Illinois, as well as Georgia, Texas, Florida and Massachusetts paid their last resj>ects. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ollie Keenan and Mrs. Vera Herdrich, three sons, Ed, Gerry and Jim, twenty-three grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Her husband, Joe B., preceded her in 1943 as did her daughter, Rosemary Stilling, in 1954. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Catherine Pepping, and two brothers, John and Joseph Smith. At a time like this words cannot express the sadness in one's heart. tinec were joined by a host of their relatives and friends last Saturday evening in celebration ol' their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Supper was served in the K. of C. hall in, McHenry followed by a reception. Bill and Ruth were joined by their immediate family which consists of Mrs. Dan (Dorothy) Thurwell, Bill and Bobby and two granddaughters. Their attendants of twenty- five years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Michels, were also present for the silver wedding celebration. Our very best wishes for continued health and happiness go to the Martinecs from all of us. Rescue Squad Calls The members of our Johnsburg rescue squad were called out last week when a young boy suffered a choking spelL The youngster came out of it just fine but his poor mother was shaken up quite a bit. Early last Sunday morning the squad was called to Pistakee Highlands where a resident suffered respiratory difficulty. She was taken by the squad ambulance to the McHenry hospital for further treatment. New Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Frank Oeffling of Sunnyside Beach are the proud parents of a daughter born Wednesday, Jan. 16, weighing 8 Vz lbs., at Harvard hospital. The new baby was welcomed home by brothers, Frankie and Larry, age 6 and 4. The paternal grandparents ;are Mr. and Mrs. George Oeffling of Johnsburg and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Gallas, Sr., of Wonder Lake. That's it again for another week.
