Also you can pick up your 1963 car stickers from your block captains. Cab Pack 459 The Cub Pack meeting last week Monday had a pretty good turn out considering the snow storm we had to go through. There were quite a few awards and pins given out but at this writing I waS unable to get all of the names so I shall just say, nice work and congratulations to all the boys who made their awards. It was also Ed Druml's last night as Cub Scout Leader. We can't begin to tell him how much we appreciate all the work he has done with the boys, so we'll say thanks a lot for a job well done. Bob Matthews is our new Cub Scout leader and Of course we know he will do a good job too. After the awards were handed out, Agnes Prazak had a little game for the two leaders to play. Both were blindfolded and were told they were to see who could blow a paper plate across the table first. What they didn't know was that the paper plates were replaced with plates which had flour on it and of course when they blew them, all the flour came back and covered them. After this, the pack was dismissed and refreshments were served. Little League Because of the extreme cold weather last week, no one showed up for the Little league meeting. Therefore it was cancelled for this month. They will meet the fourth Wednesday of February. Broken Lights At The East Beach Once again we are sorry to report that there has been more trouble at the beaches. Someone has been breaking the light bulbs which were just put up. Would all parents please warn your children about this as they do cost money to be replaced. It is a shame that some children don't appreciate what the beach committee has done fof our beaches to make it an enjoyable place to skate and have fun. It would be appreciated if residents who live near the beaches would report any malicious mischief going on to one of our deputies. Petey served a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings to the guests after their return from a sledding jaunt at Crystal Lake Hills. Helping him celebrate were Lawrence Huck, Stevie Stanek, Gerard Long, James Coughlin, Johnny Knebel, Del Gerstad and his brother, Billy. Cake, ice cream, and hot chocolate were served to the boys. Carole Matthews celebrated her second birthday on Sunday, Jan. 27. Carol's mom served a baked ham supper to all the guests. And Jessie report-: that Carol came down with the chicken pox the next morning which was one gift she didn't like too well. I would guess that^at least half the "bars driving into PETE'S SINCLAIR need replacements, but no one remembers them because it isn't raining just then. We clean your windshield and lift the blades in the process, and often fail to no tice them and remind you of it. In fact, recently during a rain storm I noticed that I needed new blades badly on my own car when I was miles from my own supply. It reminded me about the plumber that has leaky faucets in his home. It is with deep regret that I inform you readers of the shockingly sudden death of one of the nicest cider folks I knew. Mary M;.randa (the mother of Rose Felicetti and our former resident, Mary De- Francisco) suffered a stroke morning of Jan. 22. She was taken to Marvard hospital, but all the care couldn't prevent the second stroke she suffered on Wednesday, which resulted in her deaths at 1:30 p.m. that afternoon. There just are no words for us to offer to Rose and her sisters to help the ache in their hearts; just an offer to help in been made a squad leader with thirteen other Marines under him and is working on the rifle range for the next three weeks. In the obstacle training course he tied for first place. We can be mighty proud of him. Luncheon Louise McEnery had a luncheon last week for the Tripoly players. The main dish of Shrimp Creole was served to Ivy Lezak, Ruth McMahon, Edna Hountras, Helen Kraskiewicz, Ann Herzog, Grace Mandziania and Delia Julian. In the evening Delia Julian, Ruth McMahon and Ann Herzog returned to the McEnery home for a session of bridge. Bridge Club Meets The bridge club met last Tuesday evening at the home of Ruth Chadwick. Players are Ivy Lezak, Louise McEnery, Joyce Braum, Ruth McMahon, Lucille Dietz and Ann Harzog. Delia Julian sat in for Ann I^eigh who was ill. Ruth served more of those hi-caloried dishes the gals enjoy so much. Ruth McMahon won first prize and Delia Julian won second. In spite of the bitter cold weather these gals had a wonderful time. Winter Carnival Carmon and Virginia Hodges, Shirley and Marvin George, Bob and Jessie Matthews, Toots and Don Gerstad, Bob and Jan Kozy and Barb and Ron Meurer were the brave souls from Lakeland Park who joined the Homebuilders last Saturday night for tobogganing, skiing and ice skating at the Stan Thomas home. The weather was simply beautiful and everyone had loads of fun. Toots won't forget it for a long time because she came down on her tailbone too hard and finds it rather uncomfortable. Hope your feeling better by now. Delicious ham sandwiches and hot coffee and cake were devoured by the starving gang later in the evening. Visitors And Visiting On Sunday Ann Herzog had invited her family Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Steen and granddaughter, Ginny, of Lombard out to dinner but instead they surprised her by taking her to dinner at a well known restaurant in town. Matt and Sue Grizely entertained their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kee and Mr. and Mrs. A1 Kee both of Wheeling last Saturday evening. They had a grand time visiting and later playing cards. Old Friend Gone My dad, A1 Holtfodt, and Stan and 1 and the cidldren had to make a ride to Villa Park on Sunday, Jan. 20. to attend the wake of one of our oldest friends, Alex Strehlau. It called to mind many fond memories of the "good old day#" and so on, through the years. Good As New We were sorry to learn that our dear Father Blitsch of St. John's church was taken to the hospital on Sunday, Jan. 20, where he immediately underwent major surgery. Being the strong person he is, he naturally came through with flying colors and by now is no doubt back home resting up. You just take it easy, Father; the weather is tco cold anyhow! Weather Or Not After the weather we've just had this past week, I guess even I'll take the "or not." I always say that I prefer winter months to the extreme heat of summer, but, gee whiz, there are limits and 28 degrees below zero is way beyond the limit. We sure had one time of it. what with cars not starting, oil lines freezing. schi»ols closing. snow to be shoveled. But with good neighbors, and cooperation, wc can all survive anything, I do believe. Hope that by the time jou read this, the weather conditions are all back to normal. Huge Success Even the bad weather couldn't hamper the good time planned by the Jak-Ana- Heights dance committee. In spite of the weather, a large crowd turned out for the time of their lives, and it naturally included us. Stan and I shared the evening with Katie and Rich Dehn, Estelle and Willie Klapperich, Connie and Frank May and Richerd May. The dancing was varied, the music was great, the food was good and the liquid refreshmentb were plentiful. We hateu to see the orchestra pacta up and leave 'cause I do believe that if they had played all night, we would have danced all night. May I say congratulations to the dance committee for a Job well done! Mo Meeting Due to the fact that the schools were closed, Girl Scout Troop 88 had no meeting this past week, so we have no news to report from them. Troop 295 By the time their meeting day arrived the weather was better and their meeting was held at the Palmer residence. After the usual business meeting, the girls began work on their Valentine Day gifts for their Mothers. tDw, Feb. 1, little Kim OTsen will celebrate her third birthday. On Feb. 2, Larry Palmer will be one year old. On Feb. 4, Donald Fiedler will fce( ten years old and little S&ndy Tyler will be two years old. On Feb. 5, Bob White wil celebrate his birthday. And on Feb. 6, we have four celebrants. Joanne Eichhorn and Isarl Fry; as well as Paul McDonald who will be fourteen and last, but not least, our own son, Stan, who will be light years old. While going to work he was involved in a three car accident and was taken to McHenry hospital bruised and shaken up. Lucky because he came out of it without being seriously hurt.
