This is a family outing, and champicm 4-H roast beef will be the main attraction for the dinner in the Woodstock Community high school cafeteria. Seven directors will be elected. On the nominating committee are Edgar Kirchhoff of Hartland, Francis Foley of Marengo and Don Justen, McHenry. Featured speaker will be an Ohio dairw farmer, Henry Schriver. Science Speaker What hope is there for mattkind's spiritual progress in the twentieth century? Thomas A. McClain of Chicago will take up this Question in a public lecture earn Christian Science in Crystal Lake next Tuesday evening, Feb. 5. Mr. McClain will speak in Central Grade school, McHenry avenue at Paddock street, at 8 p.m. He is a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, and will speak locally under the auspices of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Crystal .Lake. Admission is free. The title of Mr. McClain's lecture will be "Christian Science: Its Message to the Twentieth Century." On Saturday, Jan. 26, the Legion auxiliary of McHenry held its membership dinner. Bernie Matchan and Ed. Reid cooked a delicious roast beef dinner for the approximately seventy ladies who attended. .Other Legion members assisting in the kitchen were Tom Birminghan, Stan Diedrich, Bill Lingenglter, George Mrachek, Bob Einspar, Dick Schmitt, Skip Wirfs, Archie Holtz, Roy Homo, Frank Gregory, Bob Conway, A. Noonan and Jack Phelan. Membership pins were given to Earline i)avis, Marion Schoenholtz and Henrietta Vycital, each fifteen years; Mary Kantorski, Loretta Homo and Dorothy Weichmann, each ten years. McHenry County President Hazel Purvey and Secretary Marion Carlson were present for the dinner. There was an average of one emergency patient treated every hour and forty-five minutes during July, 1962, at McHenry hospital, according to figures released by hospital officials. The 426 emergency cases set a record monthly high since the institution was established six years ago. Another record was reached for the year 1962 in t he treatment of 2,735 emergency cases, an increase of 25 per cent over the 1961 year. The low for the year was 120 cases recorded in October, while the low month in 1961 Annual Credit Meeting Over 400 persons attended the recent twenty-ninth annual meeting of the production Credit association at the Woodstock Community high school. Officers of the association reported an excellent year with loan volume and income about the same as during 1961. Volume outstanding for the local farm credit co-op exceeds $4,- 500,000.00 There are over 800 farmers who are stockholders. CARD OF THANKS McHenry county residents purchased a total of $1,398,460 in series E and H United States savings bonds last year, according to Donald J. Still Woodstock, 111., general county chairman of the savings bonds committee. Sales in the state of Illinois were $328,320,003, according to Arnold J. Rauen, state director ol' the Treasury department's bond division. Sales in the state were down 12.4 per cent from the previous year.
