Jfehnsbarfc t ; RECEPTION OF NEW OFFICERS FOR HOLY NAME GROUP Betty liettermaan Next Sunday evening Feb. 10, the Holy Name Society will hold a reception of new officers and Benediction in St. John's church at 7*30. A short business meeting followed by refreshments will tnke place in the community club hall after the church ' service. The Holy Name society hopes to have JFXther Raymond Hetterrnaiin of Menominee present at this meeting. Also, ah extra sjjectol feature entertainment is planned following the meeting. All members are "urged to be on hand next Sunday evening. Texan Bound Last week our community said farewell to the Turner family, formerly of Jak-Ana Heights Mr. Turner is now employed in Texas so it wa* necessary for him to move his family there also. We all join in wishing them much success and happiness in their new home. Sodality Meeting Reminder Just a little reminder to all members of the Blessed Virgin Sodality on their forthcoming meeting. Tfie sodality wil! meet at 8 p.m. next Tuesday evening, Feb. 12, in the community club hall. Girl Scout News Troop 408 have been keeping quite busy at the past few meetings working on various .projects. JXhey have,.been working B with date plants which .they also decorated. On the 'agenda during this time were |the painting of pirl Scouf •plagues. At the Jan. 16 meeting the flag ceremony took place. Sandy Thomas provided refreshments for the troop. Joyce JShermaa brought Sue Mols as •a guest. Refreshments for the 'Jan. 30 meeting were served by Borbara Diedrick. No meet- ^ing was, held on Jan. '23. Plans •for their hike to the V.F.W. grounds were called off because ,of the cold weather, , . on Joiii 27 at' the age wf 82. We all join in relaying our sincere sympathies to Mrs. Smith and her family. We weie also very sorry to leftrn that Mrs. Smith slipped and fell on the way to her husband's wake and had to be hospitalize^ with a possiblt broken hip. Smith of 'Sunnyside Beach were saddened to learn of his death. Mr\ Smith passed away at his home Association Meet* Some thirty-three members of St. John's Home and School association braved the cold weather to attend the meeting last week. Sister Alba won the attendance8 prize for having the most parents present. Four members of the Johnsburg rescue squad, namely Bob Meyer, John Stono, Gerry Hettermann and Si Meyers, were present following the business meeting to give many helpful tips on first aid. They also demonstrated some of their newest equipment. Refreshments were served by the committee Court to Celebrate Anniversary St. Agatha Court No. 777 W.C'.O.F. is celebrating the forty-fifth anniversary of its institution on Sunday, Feb. 17 Momljcrs and the juniors will receive Communion in a body at the 8:30 Mass. They will meet in the school prior to the Mass. Rolls and coffee will be served in the community club hall after Mass. A short business meeting will be held at this time so the regular third Tuesday meeting will be cancelled. At 6:30 p.m. that same day a pot-luck supper will be served in the club hall. Members of the Court may invite their husbands or best beaus. Dancing will follow. A small fee will be collected to defray costs. The Jim Hettermann family and Mrs. Richard Dehn were in Chicago last Sunday to help their father and grandfather, John Dehn, celebrate his birthday. Billy Barth is home from school on an unexpected vacation due to the mumps. Juvenile Foresters to Host Hpeclal Events The next meeting of the juvenile girl Foresters will hold many special minutes for all those who will be present. This meeting will take place next Monday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. in the community club hall. A pizza party is on the agenda as well as a crazy hat contest. Each girl who is coming should plan on creating a crazy chapeau. It should be lots of fun. Each member is asked to bring thirty cents to defray costs. Darren John arrived at the McHenry hospital on Jan. 30. He has a three year old brother, Kevin Michael. On Jan. 30, the fourth child and third daughter was welcomed by Ray and Marie Kruger of Jak-Ana Heights. The newest member of the Kruger clan weighed over eight pounds when she arrived at the McHenry hospital. Waiting patiently to give her lots of attention are Terry, Mark and Ruth. Ray's folks and the Fred One of the biggest events for the Women or the Mooae is I he annual mid-winter conference. This was held on Sunday. Jan. 27. The hostess chapter was Zion-Benton and the conference was held at the Zion- Benton Moose home in. Zion. Waukegan, with forty-four members present, preformed the opening ritual, arid McHenry, with ten members, did the balloting. The ten from the McHenry chapter present were Senior Regent Alyce Kowal„ Junior Graduate Regent Ethel Bruce. Junior Regent Olga Johnson, Chaplain Lillian Ccoc, Guide Marge Granath, Assistant Guide Kay Mahoney, ' Recorder Marjorie Ferns troml, Pianist Eunice Tobey, and College of Regents Members Mabel Thomas and Ann Rodenkcrch. One of the highlights of the day was the investiture ceremony. Four College of Regents members received their red stoles. This signifis that these Collegians have served their own chapters as College members for four years. The McHenry chapter was very happy to be present when our first College of Regents member received her red stole. Congratulations to Ann Rorenkirch. The conference theme for the day was "Mooseheart Golden Anniversary." The speaker for this was Agnes Ianson, of Zion chapter. Many interesting things were told of Mooseheart, our Child City. The six chapters present donated checks totaling $750. This is in addition to what had been donated at previous times. Next year the mid-winter conference will be held at Fox Lake. Marcella Strossner, publicity chairman J. Smiths, the proud grandparents, are just as pleased with the new addition. The newest resident of Dutcli Creek Woodlands is the infant daughter of Joe and Donne Moulis. The young Miss was bornlate last week m the Mc Henry hospital. The Moulis< also have a son. Stevie.
