Their last meeting, held at the Kasprzyk, home, brought the following intd office. Bill Mahon, president; Frank Frantz, vice-president; Norman Szamlewski, treasurer; and Don Teuber, secretary. "The club is composed of residents of Holiday Hills and the"Griswold Lake area. These boys do some very fine things in fhe area, the two most commonly known being the sponsoring of the local Boy Scouts, antf arranging to have Santa Cla«s pay a special visit to the are$ and inviting all the youngsters who can come to do so. Their activities include several teams that bowl in Island Lake on Tuesday night and many varied activities during the-year, many to which the wives are invited. Many of us have enjoyed the breakfasts served out of doors by the boys during the past few years. I hope they find it possible to do it again. Speaking for the gals, it's fun to have someone else behind the stove, and these boys do such a fine job on pancakes, eggs and sausage. In one case considerable damage was caused--with two and one-half feet of water filling a crawl space and putting the furnace out of order at 3 am, with a sick child in the house. Beside the inconvenience, considerable damage and expense were incurred. In the other cases called to my attention fortunately, no serious damage occurred, however, there might have been. If these things were done by youngster^ who don't know any better, Mothers, please tell your children about the damage done and caution them not to do it again. Many people have been alerted to watch for the offender. Of course the responsible party would have to pay for damages incurred. Please watch your children and your water faucets, let's see that it doesn't happen again. Please make an effort to attend since spring is near (?) and now is time for the association to start rolling on their many projects. Heart Fund Drive As captain of the drive here in Holiday Hills, I would like to show my appreciation to ' the gals who volunteered to brave the cold and snow to knock on every door in the subdivision. It's gratifying to note that whenever a drive such' as this comes up there is never any problem whatever getting volunteers. On this drive the willing volunteers were Jean Baird, Marge Connell, Phyl Harper, Virginia Lundelius and Joan Schroeder. Gloria Smith also volunteered but was unable to go out when her daughter became ill. I would like to explain why we -thave these fund drives when you may have already contributed through your payroll at work. Payroll deductions are made through the Crusade of Mercy which gives to many organizations,- unfortunately, some of the larger organizations such as the Heart fund, cerebral palsy, Cancer and several others do not receive sufficient amounts t© carry on the important research work to which they are dedicated. Without additional furids it would take years longer to bring help to your family, mine or your neighbors. When funds are asked for, they are desperately needed. Many thanks to all of you who were so-generous during this recent Heart Fund drive. Get Well Wishes Two great big get-well wishes this week to two youngsters-- Gigi Smith was taken to Children's Memorial hospital on Sunday, Feb. 17, where she stayed for almost a week. She is now back home working hard at getting well. Patti Baird came down with a bug that has her confined to McHenry hospital. This will never do, hurry and get,well, both of you. Brownies Brownies Troop 150 began their Tuesday meeting by collecting their dues and telling good deeds. Irene Seliga showed the Brownies a picture of George Washington and related to them the story of our fir§J. president of the United Staieg. They painted a picture of Washington and found a short time to embroider before singing a few songs and enjoying refreshments. Oaklawn. Basketball Johnsburg grade school finished conference play on Thursday With two wins. Varsity 22 to 21, and junior varsity 20 to 8. Having won 8 and lost 2 the junior varsity finished second in the conference. Also finishing second in the standings was the varsity. Tied with Big Hollow with a won 7 and lost record they finished behind Congratulations Congratulations are in order again for Bill Mahon who now belongs to the Triplicate club. The girls who played games and enjoyed refreshments and the finger puppets made by Janet's Mom were Joanne Perkins, Pebby Sawisch, Katy Slusher, Jammy Schmidt, Susie Landis, Debby Ohlsen and Laureen Vycital. A happy birthday to Susie White who celebrated her fourth birthday with a party for her friends and neighbors on Friday, Feb. 15. Johnny Is Four On Saturday, Feb. 16, Johnny Boettcher celebrated 4 big years •with a party for his friends and their Moms. Bible Class Invitation A group of ladies have been meeting in their homes on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m to discuss a Bible course entitled "Keys to Better Living for Parents" The current course being studied is written for parents who are Christians with the intention of being the best marriage partner and parent possible. This course will be set aside for a few weeks to study the life of Peter. The group would like to extend a hearty wel come to any and all who are interested. If you have a little one or two or more at home don't let that stop you, they'll find someone to {day with there. Attend Sho^ver Irene Weiss and her daughter, Diane, attended a surprise bridal shower in honor of Irene's future sister-in-law, Audrey Savini. The shower was held in Oak Park with 100 guests in attendance. The entire Weiss family, Carl, Irene and Diane, will be standing up for the wedding which will take place in April. Busy Sunday The Mahons spent a busy Sunday, Feb. 17, when they went into Chicago where Bill bowled with Mary's brother* Frank Rachwalski, in the Gordon Tech Family Towsome Tournament. Terrace Tidings Wayne Walters is venturing out on his own with a Johnsburg business location. The Paul Fedorchak family spent the weekend in Chicago visiting the Senior Fedorchak and Jean's parents, the Charles Daugird of Wheaton. On Saturday evening Jean and Paul treated her sister, Nancy, to nightclubing. Harriet Marshall was guest of honor at a birthday luncheon on Tuesday in the home of Loretta Kern. Host for the evening was the V.F.W. Post 4600 of McHenry who sponsor the Lakemoor Scouts. In hand for the ceremonies were the officers and members of Post 4600 Commander Ted Getner, Senior Vice James Doran, Junior Vice Tom Wiles, Adjutant Walter Groth, Judge Advocate Roy Morrison, Post Chaplain Jim Ruemeltin and post photographer Dave Hanson. Guest speaker for the evening was Cheif Officer Phillip of the Navy who spoke on youth organizations in America. The installing officer was past Post Commander Howard Thomas. Taking the oath of office for the coming year were president Willard Pierce, vice-president Larry Ehrhardt, treasurer Margaret Coughlin, corresponding secretary Marty Wrublewski, recording secretary Jean Dember and historian Margaret Ehrhardt. Following the installation of officers the Lakemoor Scouts were presented with their win ter jackets. Refreshments were served.
