Little League Notes The registration cards are here and you may pick them up at any one of the following places of business: Lee and Ray Electric on Main St., Justen's Standard Service at 3522 W. Elm St., Hester's Service Station 3603 W. Elm St., Huck's Standard Station at the corner of Riverside Drive and Elm St., or at Ernie's Sports Center on Green St. There will be a map of Mc- Henry's Little League area posted in Ernie's Sports Center. This area includes all of the City of McHenry, Eastwood Manor, Woodlawn Park, Hunterville, Shalimar, Aqua Lane Estates, Orchard Beach, McHenry Shores, Orchard Heights, Country Club Estates, Mineral Springs, Emerald Park and all of the Bull Valley and Pistakee Bay area which lies within the lines of the McHenry Grade School District. Insured Under Group Plan Group accident insurance is mandatory for all leagues chartered by Little League Baseball Inc. All players, as well as managers, coaches and umpires are thus afforded protection. The cost to our league is $250.00. That cost along with the cost of new caps and Tshirts, is the reason we ask for $3.00 with each registration. However, if you do not have the $3.00 and still wish to play, you may register and we will see that you get to play ball. Sophs Lose 44-32 To Barrington For the second successive week the McHenry sophs encountered a team they had trouble with earlier in the season and they went down in defeat by the score of 44-32 to a keyed up Barrington squad. The 32 point total was the lowest of the season for the underclassmen who until three weeks ago looked like they were unbeatable. It was the second loss in a row and the fourth of the season, as opposed to 14 wins. Rich Smith was high scorer for the Orange and Black with 10 points. McHenry FG FT F T Any boy, who will have reached his eighth, but not his thirteenth birthday before August 1st, is eligible to sign up. In each issue, we call to your attention the registration date of March 21st at the V.F.W. club house at 7:00 p.m. If you can't be there that night, call anyone of the Little League officers before hand and we will see that your registration is cared for. The reasons for putting a deadline on registration are these. First of all, we have to know how many boys to plan for. Secondly, the player agent has to prepare a list for each manager, giving each boy's age and birth date. But, probably the most important reason of all this -- a deadline on registering will help keep the number of players on each team down to a minimum, thus affording the boys, who really want to play a chance for friore participation in every game, and this, after all, is the object of Little League Baseball -- to give every boy a chance in the great game of baseball. James Umbarger of McHenry was fined $20 for speeding. A $10 fine was imposed on Danny McGrave of Volo for not having a valid driver's license. Residents of the McHenry- Fox Lake area who have not previously submitted flood damage statements covering the 1960 and 1962 floods of the Fox river are asked to complete the statements immediately, the Chicago Army Engineer district has requested. A meeting was held Wednesday morning of this week, when representatives of many subdivisions gathered to assist Army engineers with plans for a house to house campaign among those homes badly damaged by flood, and where refjbrts have not -been turned in. Damage forms are available at the local post office, McHenry bank and the Plaindealer office. All those who suffered damage in floods of recent years are asked to pick them up, fill out and return. The Army Engineers are completing their survey of flood damages during the next week. Preliminary analysis of the flood damage data collected last fall and winter in a local campaign indicates that Thomas Schaffer of Waukegan road, McHenry was fined $20 for driving with faulty many properties sustained flood damages which have not bee®^ reported. Officers of local improvement groups are bem# asked by the Army engineer# to collect such data or to ea^ timate damages in their -ipective areas. Chicago district personnel will begin studies and formUr ation of new projects as soofj^ is an analysis of flood damage nas been completed. Among projects to be cofife sidercd are the regulation of McHenry Dam, together with required channel improve-' ments to permit a lower peak stage in the i Chain O' Lake# luring major floods and estab^ lishment of multiple - purposfe reservoirs for flood control,* conservation, etc., on the Fo(E river, and its tributaries. Consideration also will be ixiven to allied water uses, including water supply, low-flow control, recreation, fish ahdr wildlife, conservation and pollution abatement.
