THE McHENRY PLABTOEALER f Thursday, Maxck 14, 1963- MCHMUJ Shorai Dogs Allowed To Run Loose Patt Petoraott JM-5415 Several complaints have been registered about dogs running loose in the neighborhood. Please keep JFido home! His own family may love him dearly but a stranger sees him as a menace to his garden and shrubbery. Another discouraging trait of the canine corps is the "car- Chasing" .habit. If your dog is known to be addicted to this sport, please find a way of restraining him. I have had reports of near accidents when cars swerve to avoid hitting the animals. Rummage Sole Since just about everyone is doing their Spring cleaning, now is the perfect time to hold a rummage sale. St. Patrick's church has come to the same conclusion and has decided to bold a sale in the beginning of April. The exact date is not yet known, but in the meantime you might begin sorting through old clothing and odds and ends. News From The Service Irene and Clair Mueller recently had news that their son Jerry was being shipped overseas. Jerry is attached to the S.S. Constellation and left the States on Feb. 21, and will be stationed at Hawaii, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. While in the Air Force he's taking advantage of courses in electronics and navigation. He'll be back in the States sometime in October and will be home in December for Christmas. Junior Society Three little girls in the subdivision had birthday parties last week. Youngest was Cathy Musielak who celebrated being 4 years old. There was a family get-together cm Sunday with cake and all the trimmings. Debbie Calvert had her big day on Tuesday when she wa6 given a surprise party. She had no inkling of a party until she walked in the door and five of her little friends popped out from their hiding place in the bedroom. Cake, ice cream and hot chocolate were enjoyed by Patty Brunke, Annette Cicchini, Dawn Ewaki, Debbie Burke and Linda Rattan. Debbie had a total of eight candles on her cake. The third birthday girl is a grand new 12 year old; Cathy Burke who had eight guests at her party also on Tuesday. Seven of the guests were friends from school and one was from the subdivision, Becky Partain. The girls had a lot of fun with a Limbo contest and probably went home with i some dislocated bones after trying the 'Twist." We also heard that Sandy Winters landed the lead in the school play. Congratulations, Sandy! Still Time For Free Classes You still have time to register for the Power Squadron (classes in boat handling). Registrations can be made at. Grant high school in Fox Lake. Also to the Prell family on the death of Dolores' brother-in-law, Thomas O'Connell, who died Sunday of a heart attack. Complaints First we have had a few complaints about the dogs running loose. Please keep your dogs tied up, they are upsetting garbage cans, ruining bushes and are scaring the children as they walk home from school. Our second complaint is about children cutting through yards. Parents, please talk to your children and have them stay out of other people's property. The streets are for walking, use them!!! VOTER I am quite certain that all of our readers are now aware that I have entered this campaign without any major party endorsements but will welcome and appreciate the support of any and every individual or group. Though my methods are unorthodox I do want to talk to all of you using the best possible facilities, our newspapers. Like many thousands of you, my friends, I have moved from Chicago to seek <a better way of life and environment for my family in a rural area. The long time residents of this township welcomed our little group, for which I am extremely grateful, but now I feel that because of that hospitality, the best repayment possible can be in the form of public service. The word rural winch I use ^cviously is hardly applicable today, rather theterm suburban would be more fitting. Who could possibly have foreseen that communities such as Wonder Lake, Pistakee, Lakeland and all our other subdivisions could explode from a sprinkling of <a few summer homes into booming vital areas teeming with permanent homes and residents. Unfortunately however, our dramatic population growth has not been bulwarked with sufficient economic expansion to fortify our earning power. This matter is of vital concern to all of us having been brought to the forefront through the experiences gained during the course of the last winter. Conversations with business men in various fields have emphasized the need for more industrial growth and diversified earning power in our township. One only need look at the manufacturing facilities in other areas of our county to realize how deficient we are. You no doubt have read ai^d heard of the efforts of some-of our town officials and civic groups to stimulate the needed industrial growth, but it is only through the cooperation and concerted effort of all of us that success can be achieved. There is absolutely no reason why the supervisory post which I am seeking cannot be utilized to aid our local officials in the struggle to lift us from the economic doldrums. To that I commit myself fervently. Will you bear with me again next week? Bernard J. "Bernie" Peschke, Sr. INDEPENDENT CANDID A TF IOK MoFrvRV TOWNSHIP SUPERVISOR VOTERS PARTY ELECTION DATE.
