March 9, over tliirty folks gathered at the Spankuch home, including all the members of Toots' two Card clubs and their hubbies, to help this popular couple make this an event they will long remember. Toots' mother, Emma Rosengart, made the *iost beautiful silver money, tree for the occasion. Lou and Toots were presented with many gifts and cards. Both Lou and Toots have been very Active in civic groups and they have two children, Ronald and Shirley. "It's A Boy" Bob and Rosemary Lutz are ttie proud ^parents of a baby boy bom March 12, at the McHenry hospital. The baby weighed 8% lbs. Two brothers •nd a sister were on ha#id to Welcome their new baby brother. Bob is the Scoutmaster in the Highlands and Rosemary has been a very active Den mother. Pistakee Democratic Meeting March 29 The regular monthly meeting of the Pistakee Regular Democratic organization will be held Friday, March 29, 8 p.m. at the community center. Steve and Geri Vrbik returned home last weekend after enjoying a winter vacation in Florida and Southern States. Just in case Hjordis Tliome is home after her heart surgery March 11, in St. Luke's hospital in Chicago, let's all send her cards to welcome her home. John and Margaret Kapolnoky of West Chicago, were Sunday visitors at the home of Joe and Liesl Hanisch. Frank and Judy Krumweide spent the weekend in their Highland home, Frank reports his mother, who lived here for some time, is confined to St. Michael's hospital in Stevens Point, Wis., with a broken hip and will have to undergo surgery to pin the hip. In case some of her friends want to send a card the name is Mrs. Louis Krumweide. Frank and Judy have been making trips from Park Ridge to see her. All the women of the Highlands are invited to attend the annual card party and style show sponsored by the Woman's auxiliary to the McHenry hospital, April 3, 12:30 at the Wing and Fin club. Lil Orlowski received word March 9 that Rita Tempera, a former resident of the Highlands who recently moved to Chicago, suffered a severe stroke in her home and will be confined for a time. Jane Malek and Millie Shastal spent March 13, in Arlington Heights. The decorating committee of the woman's club met at the home of vice-president Mary- Lou Sabielny March 11. Dorothy Jenkins, Rose Mary Thelen, Teena O'Malley, Jane Malek. Bev. Lewandowski, Audrey Misavice, Barb Sisk and Kay Sielisch spent 3% hours making flowers for the fashion show to be held today. Mary Lou served coffee to keep the gals awake and busy. So sorry we missed yoor birthday Ruth Petrov but happy birthday better late than never. Ruth celebrated hei birthday March 8. Dick and Rose Farwell were happy to have Grandma Farwell and two of her grandchildren pay them a visit'from Chicago March 10, Paul and Laura were happy to see their grandma and enjoyed the visit. Audrey Morin has a iot of time on her hands from March 12 to March 17 when Grandpa Morin from Chicago, who is enjoying a vacation, drove out to pick up his grandsons, Dale and Larry, and took them home with him for a few days and brought them back in time for a big family birthday celebration for Dale's fifth birthday. Ann Guyser and Mabel Gregg have been busy nursinfe their husbands who haw been ill. Richard Guyser and Joe Gregg both have been ill off and on for most of the winter. Hope better days are ahead for you both and maybe with the coming of spring you will perk up. Betty Crosdale returned home from the McHenry hospital March 12 and is doing Ntaetevn real well after her surgery. Dan Johnson spent three days in Washington, D.C., las* week on business. Betty was unable to accompany him am1 was happy to have him home and to hear about all the exciting things Dan saw and did. Lorraine Lindomann returned home from St. Therese hospital March 10. Her stay was a lot longer than she expected. Complaints of boys with B.B. guas on Meadow Hill are coming in. We aii know this is against the law and a call to the sheriff will settle your complaint. Careless' use of these guns in the hands of a boy can do much property property damage let alone the harm they could do to a human being. Children should be instructed m the use of guns and not to be aiming them all ever just to be shooting.
