The results are twofold, you feel fit and the baseball park next to the barn will be prepared for some redhot games. The program will be launched immediately after we get a volunteer chairman. Pick up your phone and dial either me or EMPOA president. Car Sticker Anyone wishing an Eastwood Manor car sticker may haxe one free of charge from tfec association simply by asking for one. A county sticker is available free upon request at the sheriff's office if you prefer. Either will save you possible inconvenience if you have occasion to park in Chicago. Let Water Run The Eastwood Manor water company requests that the outside taps remain running. The warm weather forces the cold down and the pipes could refreeze very easily. Easter Plans An Easter egg hunt is being planned for Saturday, April 13. Faith Presbyterian Church News The sixth and final Lenten Women's Bible Study will be held tonight at 8 p.m. Sunday, March 31, the sermon will be entitled "Jesus In the Tomb" based on Mark 15: 42-47. Tuesday, April 2, choir rehearsal at 8 p.m On Wednesday, April 3, the Brownies will meet at the church and at 8 p.m., Pastor Mclntyre will hold the final teacher training session. Bridge Club Pat Kellogg served a frosted sandwich loaf to her friends Who gathered for bridge on Wednesday, March 20. Marian Kreimier won the first prize with traveling prize awarded to Haroldine Peck and Carol Hays accepted the booby prize for the evening. Bunco • The hostess of the Bunco club, Kay Mitchell, won her own first prize. Bunco prize was Won by Florence Tucker and Frieda Durkin won the booby. After the game Kay served gingerbread cake, whipped cream and sliced bananas. Tripoli The next Tripoli meeting is April 1. Cub Scouts Cub Scout Den Mothers; Carolyn Roths, Louise Griffeth, Carolyn Congdon and Lydia Fenner, all report that their groups are working very industriously on the theme of the month, U.S.A. Project. The Cubs select a state of their choice and glean and report information about it such as the state flag, flowers, trees and so forth. Many are preparing salt maps as well as log cabins or other items pertinent to their area in relation to our nation's history. Next week we'll bring you a report on the Scout-O-Rama. Girl Scouts At the March 20 meeting the Girl Scouts received their cooking, checking their lists carefully in preparation for distribution the following day. Earlier in the day the Scout Leaders had gathered at the Legion and started plans to schedual a Father-Daughter banquet for May 1. Brownies The Brownies held their election of officers on Wednesday, March 20. Elected were: Jane Miller, president; Susan New- Ion, secretary; Vicki Gruhn, treasurer; Martha Simpson, door hostess. Cookie hostess of the evening was Janice Engstrom. The girls have worked hard on their projects and were awarded their world pins for their accomplishing the researching and reporting on different parts of our world. Cindy Radner will be helping Kay Stephensen again as they assist the Brownies in preparing Easter baskets for the children's home. Cindy has been a good helper in taking over for her mother, Betty, who is recuperating from an extensive period of ill health. We hear that Betty is on the mend and is hopeful of being back on the job soon. Bowling: Four ladies of EWM; Georgia Wilson, Dottie Messer, Eleanor Kuck and Pat Borcovan, are on the same team. Their partner is young Nancy Cusack of Jonnsburg. Most of the girls qualify as beginners but it must be noted that they've moved from last place in their league to one half game out of fourth place in a mere two months. Georgia is third high bowler in the league with a 211 for the season so far. She bowled 495 in a three game series. On Tuesday Georgia Sigman bowls with a team that is third in their league to date. Congratulations! George and Nancy Marcotte and six year old Darcy are showing off their new family member, Stacy Ann. Stacy arrived on March 3, weighing a petite 6 lbs. 15 ozs., but Nancy didn't get to return home for 10 days afterward. She's feeling well now, well enough to plan a day of visiting for Sunday. First to Lake Zuiich to the home of Stacy's paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Marcotte, and then on to Palatine for dinner with Nancy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Kinnison. Christening A large family buffet party was held at the Salo homestead on the occasion of celebrating the christening of lovely Kathleen Marie which had taken place at St. Mary's church. Recuperating Donna Rohrer reports that she feels very well after her minor surgery last month and is looking forward to the planting season with renewed "vigah." , Dorothy Eternick is feeling well but not very strong as yet since her major surgery on Feb. 20. It shouldn't be long now before she'll be back to her normal activities, and then some, we hope. The whole year has been one the Engstroms would rather not talk about. Joyce is home after spending six weeks in the hospital for a thyroid operation complicated by a tricky metabolism. As if that wasn't enough the whole clan at home including Joyce's mother came down With the flu. Goran's sister, Mrs. Ann Peterson of Lake Zurich, was kind enough to leave her own family to fend for themselves and spend a while here* Things are looking up now at the Engstrom household and we hope the trend will continue. Marriage Ramon Char bonnier and his bride, Sue Emerson, are making their home in the Manor. The wedding which took place in Waukegan was followed by dinner at a restaurant with all the family on hand to wish them well. Congratulations, Ray, and we wish you both the best in the years to come. Sick List The Ryans are very much on the sick list this week with Jerry receiving sound treatments for a back muscle and Lois and the girls going 'round and 'round with the flu. Craig Sigman is another victim of the flu. We trust that all's well by the time this is read. Parties Ellen Barry, her brother? and sisters, and eight friends rather filled the party table and Ellen couldn't have been more „ pleased. If you've seen her blush you know it's no exaggeration when Mary Lou reports that she was tickled pink. Cindy Iverson had some friends in for her seventh birthday celebration. It was a day to remember with games and treats to please any little girl. Rosemary Newlon prepared lunch and birthday cake and ice cream for Kathy and her friends when she turned four. Thanks to everyone who did committee work. On Monday a group consisting of the Betke, the Cisewskis, the Woodburys and the Olsons attended the awards presentation dinner of the V.F.W. Irene Betke reports that her dad, Arnold Ekiund, is home now after a lengthy stay inthe hospital and will soon be resuming his trips oiit to the Manor to visit his daughters and their families. Dorothy and El Eternick were visited by El's mother and his brother, Marian and James Eternick of Milwaukee, who came for the day on Saturday, March 16. Jean Mersch's dad, John Timmons, drove out on Wednesday, March 20, to spend the day with Jean and his grandchildren. Jackie and Bob French joined Jackie's brother, Roy, and his girl friend, Donna, for an evening that included dining and viewing the ice show, described by Jackie as having gorgeous costumes and spectacular lighting. Despite inclement weather the Bob Mitchells visited at the home of Kay's cousin, Barb and Norm Schindler in Meadowdale, on Monday evening. Tom and Rita Simpson and their children attended the circus in Chicago, afterwards joining the birthday festivities in honor of Tom's mother at his parents home in LaGrange. The children will be talking for a long while yet of the daring acts and the sparkling costumes they witnessed. We are still in need of a permanent reporter. Lakemoor-Lllymoor ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT URGES SPRING CLEAN UP Shirley Sctraerr 885-9645 The president of the Lilymoor association, Fred Fradinardo, sent a letter to all the residents in regards to the spring cleaning season. Cleanup observers have inspected the subdivision with a view to improving its appearance. Anything, no matter how small it may seem in importance that can be done along these lines will enhance in proportion the values of the properties as well as help the reputation of the community. Mr. Fradinardo asks the cooperation of all in the subdivision to make a special effort in this connection by disposing of any rubbish or other untidy material in front and back yards. Auxiliary The next monthly meeting of the Woman's auxiliary will be held this coming Monday, April 1. The third and final amendment reading on the finances and dues will take place at this meeting. Hostessee for the April meeting are Ann Novak, Marge Polinski and Shirley Shuerr. The meeting will take place in the large hall of Club Lilymoor at 8 p.m. Birthday Greetings go to Patrick Epperson. See you at the polls. Flower Show Several of the ladies of Lilymoor attended the flower show in Chicago Tuesday March 19. On Thursday, March 21, Walter and Josephine Schuerr and Jack and Esther Schuerr attended the flower show. All in all they all did a lot of walking to see all the different flowers.
