Since the Lenten services have been well attended we are sure this beautiful service will be fully attended. Reverend Smith Is busy preparing the beautiful Sunrise services for Easter Sunday to be held at 7 a.m. The board meeting was held March 25 and there was a very nice turn out for the meeting and it is hoped in the future that more members will be present for the meetings. The more who attend the smoother things can run and the more can be accomplished. The main topic discussed at this meeting was getting the canvasses completed. The committee for the organ fund raisers are well pleased With the way money is coming in for the new organ. Reverend Smith is real pleased with the large attendance at church services and the first Sunday of Spring the church was filled. The Confirmation classes are being well attended and the instructions are coming along real well. The W.S.C.S. met for its regular monthly meeting April 2, at 12::30 in the church meeting hall. A nursery Sunday class for 3 and 4 year olds has been formed. Classes begin at 9:45 a.m. Mrs. Fritz VonBruenchenheim is the teacher for this class and she now has nine children in attendance: You are invited to send your little tots to this class. A new adult Sunday School class has been formed and the services are conducted by Reverend Smith. Classes start at 9:45 a.m. There is still baby sitting services for adult members who wish to attend church services. They have nine mothers who have volunteered to baby sit and they can use more help. So if you are interested in helping out with baby sitting you're most welcome. Pete Cunningham was able to be out doors a bit March 23 with the aid of his son, Ray, and a cane. He ii pretty stiff yet and can not stand straight but is improving each day. The Ullo family was happy to have their daughter, Linda, home for a couple of days from her studies at the convent in Rockford. She had come home to talk to the eighth graders of St. John's school and to attend F&ther Blitsch's funeral. March 21 Kay Reilly was pleased to have her sister from Chicago pay her an unexpected visit. Kay enjoyed her company all day. We are very happy to report that Jim Long escaped very serious injuries when his car was completly demolished in an accident on Route 12 March 25, near Lake Zurich. He was treated there by a local doctor and at the McHenry hospital where he was fitted with a collar for neck injuries and was able to return home. Glad it was not serious, Jim is a pretty wonderful fellow, hope your feeling fine now Jim. Those traveling Snells are off and running again. This time Roy and Gert leave April 6 for a vacation in Oaklawn where they will stay until May -, they will spend it resting, sitting back, relaxing and letting the world go by, couldn't happen to a nicer couple. March 26 Ray Cunningham slipped and fell while taking the garbage cans out for pick up, injured his hip and back, Ray was taken by private ambulance to St. Therese hospital in Waukegan for x-rays and treatments. The Cunninghams have had a very bad winter, this is the second trip to the hospital for Ray, one for his wife, Sadie, and two for his Dad, Pete. All your friends and send their best and hope things will be brighter for you. March 28, Liesl Hanisch and Kay Sielisch spent the day in Woodstock r on business and shopping. Woman's Club Notes The regular monthly meeting held March 27, was an evening with a very full agenda. The meeting was called to order promptly at 8 p.m. The nominating committee presented the candidates for office for president Barbara Miller, vice president, Jaunita Blackburn, and Kathy Weber secretary, Rose Marie Koch and Sally Jo VonBruenchenheim, treasurer, Irene Kolan and Janice Janquart. Nomination from the floor will be extended until the April meeting, when it is hoped we will get another candidate to run for president to complete the slate. Dorothy Jenkins was the leader in making the most cancer pads for the American Cancer society. She was presented a small token for her worthy efforts and received a big hand from all the members. Over 250 pads were made during the month and that is a very good start. The annual banquet will be held April 24, at 7 p.m. at the Sail Inn in Fox Lake. We will be enjoying a delicious roast beef dinner with all the trimmings. Eleanor Wroblewski and Barb Sisk will take all reservations, please get your money and reservations to either of the girls before April 15, which is the deadline. After the dinner the regular monthly meeting will be held and the election of officers. All members look forward to this event. After the close of the meeting the cancer film "Is Smoking Worth It?" was shown and after the film was completed, Doctor Lee Gladstone gave a talk on cancer of the lungs and I noted that while he was talking all the smokers were sansi cigarettes.
