Mary Mecko Becomes An Aunt Mary Mecko's sister, Dorothy, and husband, Bob Blank, Bartleti, became the proud parents of a boy, Robeft, 7 pound and 8 ounces, on-Saturday evening, March .'i0. Mary's niece, three-year-old Monica, who has been with Mary for the past two weeks, and the Blanks' other daughter, Christine, kept the Mecko household hopping this week. On Thursday Mary returned the children to their mother and stayed on till Saturday to help. Garden Club The first meeting of the Holiday Hills Garden club was held at the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Patz on Friday, March 29. The group elected Joyce Karafa as their president and Jimmie Justes secretary- treasurer. A charter with the Garden Club of Illinois has been applied for and meetings will be held on the fourth Friday of the month. Among things discussed were planting instruct ions, lawn care, floral arranging and the exchange and sale of plants and flowers, among members. His birthday is really on April 1, I think he was afraid it might be April fool if he had the party on that day. Dogs Recently an unhappy incident occurred that hurt both parties involved. It seems a pedigreed dog, due to have pups, was lost to its owner because It was loose and annoyed a neighbor. The dog catcher was called and the dog destroyed. No one wanted this to happen, but this chould be a double warning to all of us with dogs. This dog had no identification. If -you love your dogs, please keep them confined to vour property and if they should accidentally get loose cue that they have their rabies tags and proper identification on them so that they can be returned to you.
