Graduation Time Again Congratulations to all graduates with a special thought to those from our area as they receive their diplomas this month. Graduating on Friday, May 31. from Johnsburg Grade School was Susan Benoche, Kathy Mc- Clory, Robert Moore, and Rolf Schilling as well as James Colandrea from near-by Riverdale. On June 2, Roger Weiss completed four years of school at Marian high school, Woodstock. Two Seniors at McHenry high school who graduate on June 6 are Janice Bush and Dan Davidson. Our only college graduate is Doreen Davidson who received her certificate on May 31 from Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa. gash in her wrist. They took I Holiday Hffli her to the McHenry hospital! where she had six stitches SERVE BREAKFAST OUTDOORS SUNDAY Brownies Brownie Troop 150 held their world pin ceremony on Saturday morning, May 25, at the Johnsburg school. The girls began the ceremony with the flag ceremony performed by Cheryl Kinder and April Pritchard, Color guards, and Mary Beth Williams and Denise Thomas, flag bearers. Following the pledge to the flag and the singing of "My Country Tis of Thee," Irene Seliga presented each girl with her world pin and Audrey Seliga and Kathleen Pflug also received their fly-up wine;s. Ending the program was the song "Girl Scouts Together" and the girls then served their parents before getting own lunch. The sandwiches had been donated by Mesdomes Pflug, Prichard, Kinder and Seliga. On Thursday, the last meeting of this year, the girls cleaned out their belongings. Before going home the Brownies presented their leader, Irene Seliga, with a lace headscarf in appreciation for her patience with them. They also appreciate the use of Johnsburg school for their special events and the Terrace auxiliary for the loan of the coffee pot. home. Joining in celebration for little Don Kern's first birthday on Sunday were Ricky and Maureen Kern, William and Marie and Jerry Kern and the entire Don Kern family. Bernie and Norbert Cisewski attended her Foreman high school class reunion held in Lincolnwood on Saturday evening. Dud Gregg, activities chairman for Cub Scout Pack 452, accompanied fourteen boys to O'Hare field on Saturday where they took a tour of American Airlines and enjoyed a picnic lunch before returning home in the afternoon. Dorothy, Kathi and Barbara Parker attended a baby shower in honor of Sharon Melahan, Crystal Lake, at the home ot Shirley Rowe . in McHenry given by Mrs. Herb Rowe, Sr., McHenry, and Mrs. Ed Pyzik, Ingleside. Mitch and Bonnie Sabaj and boys were present at the first communion party for his nephew, Richard, at the Oaklawn home of Mitch's sister, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hansen. Joan Stull spent Wednesday through Friday visiting with her mother, Mrs. LeNore Krelle in Chicago, as Dick finished his recent vacation by looking after the children. Jack and Pat Kowalski and family, Villa Park, were Sunday evening visitors at the Vyduna home. Dorothy and Russell Parker dined near Antioch on Wednes day evening in celebration of their fifteenth wedding anniversary. Weiss Boy Receives Scholarship Roger Weiss received word that he has been granted four year scholarship as principal for ROTC by the Navy. At present he is applying at the University of Minnesota for acceptance this fall. Congratulations, Roger. AT RAVEN FARM Inez Young Sunday is the day I've been talking about for weeks. Breakfast out of doors--by the men of the Griswold Lake Athletic club. Imagine--no dishes to wash and all you can eat. Just drive down to Clint Raven's farmhalf way between Routes 120 and 176 on River Road, or the Griswold Lake Blacktop. You'll see it when you get there. It will be well marked. These boys have had several years of experience and put out a real good breakfast. If you have children who enjoy Santa's visit on River Road at Griswold Lake each year, home on Memorial Day were Ted Winski, Bernie Jackaboskl, Don M o r o z e k and Barb Kleekamp, Chicago, and Tom, Pat and Marcia Merhaut. Celebrating the holiday at the Sabaj home were Helen and Jack Green, Isabelle Koibecki, Bellwood, and Tony and Ralph Rodrequez, Chicago, and children. Thursday found the Zamastil family joined Barb's family in celebration of eight year old Paula Casper's birthday at the home of her parents, Fred and Mary Anna Casper, Addison. Memorial evening visitors at the Vyduna home included the Warren Vydunas and Randy, Elmhurst, and Georgie Oaks of Wheeling. Visiting Carrie and Fred Woerner on Memorial day were daughter Barbara, husband. Chuck, and grandsons, David and Ross Runyon, of Elk Grove. that's another reason to come out to breakfast. The club arranges for Santa's visits and the stockings given to each child who comes to see him. Woman's Club Fashion Show Fashions from cotton feed bags and flour sacks will be featured by the Holiday Hills Woman's Club fashion show to be held on Wednesday, June 12. Loan service from the National Cotton Council from Memphis, Tenn., will show casual styles, sportswear, children's clothes and costumes, house dresses and street fashions. All you gals whc sew will be interested to know that all the clothes to be shown are styles made from 1063 patterns by n a t i o n a l l y k n o w n p a t t e r n books. Roy Breede Graduates Roy Breede graduated from kindergarten at St. John's Lutheran church on Sunday, May 26. Following the ceremony punch and cookies were served to the graduates and their families. Garden Club News The Holiday Hills Garden club held its last meeting on Friday, May 24, at the home of Loretta Nelson. Those present enjoyed a demonstration on flower arranging by Jimmie Justes. Meetings are held on the fourth Friday of the month. If you have anything to contribute or feel you want to learn about gardening, you're welcome to join the club. The next meeting will be held at the Malstrom home at 1407 W. Ash. church startingi won Monday, June 10. Buses 1vill provide transportation as usual. Bible Classes The Bible classes held on Wednesday morning at 10 and Thursday evenings will continue through the summer months. If you'd like to join one of the groups, you may call me at 385-4672. Sounds Patty's Progress I talked to Patty's Mom, Jean, the other day and she tells me that Patty is coming along just fine. She was interviewed for a movie on La- Rabida hospital by Lee Phillip, the TV star recently. Gee, Patty, that makes you almost a star, doesn't it? We're so glad you're feeling better. After enjoying the appetizers they traveled to the Bill Ewald home, McHenry Shores, for a shalad and then to the church for a main course of chop suey. They ended the evening at the Horenberger home west of McHenry with sherbert and fortune cookies. Memorial Day Doings Many of the Terrace Scouts, Cubs, Brownies and Girl Scouts participated in the surrounding Memorial Day observants but as of this writing I could not find out everyone so will not list any. Gathering at the Perschke home along with the Perschke children and families on Memorial day were Joe, Jean, Jeanniejo and Susan Benoche, Jean's sister, Evelyn, husband, Jim Caccaverri, and her brother, Henry, and Mary Gerali and family. The Jerry Connerty family joined Tom and Diane Simonek, Bob Simonek, Laurie Peterson rind Dorothy and Flo Stazak and families from Cicero for a picnic at Fox River Grove. Out to the Stader home on Memorial Day were Mr. anil Mrs. Don Knapp and family. Gathering at the Fedorchak Terrace Tidings Following a calm Sunday dinner with dinner guests Paul, Jean, and Nicole Fedorchak the Merhauts spent a hectic afternoon. Mftrcia fell carrying a milk bottle, cutting an artery in her hand and putting a deep Sick List May victims of the measles included Debbie Jourdan, Carolyn Mierzwa, Bobby Erickson and Lori Parker who came down with them following a two week bout with the chicken pox. Chicken pox also caught up with Theresa Kurowski on Saturday.
