Notes Well another Memorial Day has come and gone, and the old weather man really cooperated all the way. The sun babies basked in the rays cl the hot sun and the sundodgers (like me) stayed in the shade and all enjoyed the weekend. 1 know that many of you guys and gals love to get out and get a good tan but not me. I avoid it as much as I can but somehow it finds me regardless. After I've been in the sun I look like a boiled lobster (or is it broiled?) then the next stage is when I look like I was molting for a week or sO and that's it. Next time I go thru the same process all over again. No lovely tan - just red skin and peeling. So I avoid it - but with my line of work on weekends I have to be out in it all day long and believe me tonight I look it, and I feel it too. To each his own and I'll take the shade. I know there must have been a lot of things going on during the long weekend but I guess everyone was too busy to tell me about it. Next week I'm going to start hounding you folks if you don't come up with some news for me. My busy time is about over and I'm going to get with this news business seriously. So you'd better give. They spent most of the time during their visit driving around the community and the near vicinity comparing different subdivisions and their verdict was that ours was onir of the nicest looking; with its well kept appearance and the beautiful homes herein. Take a bow, everyone; for you all played a part in making our community the place of beauty that it is. What A 0*11 Another recent weekend proved to be a mighty challenging one for Alice Bieschke. She had signed up, along with other interested adult Girl Scout members, for an advance outdoor training. This meant spending the time from Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon really roughing it up at Chapman Hill?, the Girl Scout camp in Wisconsin. This wasn't challenge enough for our Alice, however; she decided to ride her bicycle up there instead of driving along in a car with the others. Well, she made it; in five and a half hours with a good long stop for food and rest at Lake Geneva. That's not bad for a trip of fortyseven and a half miles. Our hat is off to you. Alice. And since Alice was to be away for the weekend, hubby Ray wasn't about to spend the time alone, so he and the entire Lakowske family made a weekend fishing trip up to Lake Emily in Wisconsin. Champion fisherman of the weekend turned out to be Johnny Lakowske with a four pound walleye. Bob Lakowske and Ray Bieschke caught a couple each, but they didn't match Johnny's. Lake Emily is near Betty's hometown of Stevens Point, so while they were there for the weekpnrl, thpy had Sunday dinner at Betty's sister's (Donna Rosenthal); and also visited with Betty's dad and his wife as well as her youngest brother, Larry,, and his daughter, Maureen. Perhaps you're pondering, where little Tammy Bieschke was all this time that Alice and Ray were off on their trips. Well, she was having herself a ball first with Grandma Dietrich and then with Grandma Bieschke. And it wasn't just an ordinary ball because that particular Sunday was her birthday, and first there was a celebration at one Grandma's and then a celebration at the other Grandma's, and then when Mommy came home, there was another and' when Dad got back,... .well, I could go on indefinitely, but I won't. What a weekend that must have been! Grand Parade As usual the Memorial Day parade was a beauty. Those of us who marched in it were mighty proud to be a part of it, and those who lined the way were happy to view it, I'm sure. The weather turned out so very lovely that I'm sure we weren't the only ones who cooked out that day. It was a wonderful, lazy holiday. Hope you enjoyed yours as much as we did ours. Happy Occasions Birthday greetings go this week to the following: Today, June 6, to James Haninger; on June 8 to Connie Martinez and Louis Brink; On June 9 Alan Kennebeck will be seven years old; On June 10 Hedwig Haninger celebrates her natal day. Happy birthday to each and everyone of you. Signing Off Yep! That's all there is, SHOP AT HOME AND SAVE there ain't no more. If I don't get the calls, I have nothing to write about. Next week, I'll be telling you all about the lovely graduation ceremonies and the different celebrations for the graduates. Please be kind enough to call and tell me all about yours. Thank you. Mr. Burres Church School -- 9:30 a.m Regular Worship Service 11:00 am Bim is a clown--that is his business. He can always do the wrong thing at the right time. But Bim is no fool. Oat of the circus ring he always tries to do the right thing at the right time. Those winter Sundays in Florida, before the show goes on the road, you might ait next to Bim in church, and never know he is a clown. And even though on the road, when Sunday is moving day, Bim gets out his old worn Bible and his teacher's guide, and with his own kids, and with all the other "show" kids gathered 'round him, there is Sunday School on the circus train. You see, Bim is a Christian, living his faith through all the complications of a st'ange occupation. He is not a mask--he is Bim. He is the Churchman of a circus train -- the Sunday School teacher of show business. He knows when to put fun and frolic aside, and turn to the Truth by which we live!
