On Friday, May 31. the following girls graduated from Johntburg public school: Nancy Brink. Sandra Fry, Loreli Jost, Shirley Medeen, Karen Rau find Kathleen Senkerik. Some of them had parties in their honor and those I learned of Were as follows: Karen Rau was guest of honor at a little supper on Friday evening given by her folk?, Henrietta and Karl, also attended by her brother, Johnny; Lu Davis; and Karl's sister, , Mr. and Mrs. Ed OJsen from Refund Larke. Karl's other sister, Helen JTrilimann and his mother, Mrs. Rau, were unable to attend. Karen naturally had a very lovely cake, baked by her dad, to top off the fine meal. Karen had.a celebration the day before as well. Henrietta's sister, Marge Long, in Chicago, invited them in for the day, Memorial Day, and when they arrived instead of it being just a visit, it was a very nice graduation dinner complete with a pretty cake and topj>ed off with a lovely gift. Karen certainly must have been thrilled by all the doings. Sandra Fry was guest of honor at a party on Saturday evening, to which all her classmates, plus her neighborhood friends were invited. Those able to attend were: Sue Benoche, Jim Colandrea, Janice Erbip, Garda Haubold, Jeanne Janquart, Loreli .Tost, Carole Kenton, Limta McGregor, Shirley Medeen, Bob Moore, Susan Nurse, Karen Rau, Kathy Senkerik and Sury Ullck. The young folks all had a grand time dancing and- enjoying the refreshments. There was a^jclQUble celebration at the Jost residence on that Sunday, for not only had Loreli graduated on Friday evening, but Ted had been confirmed on Sunday. They had many friends from both Chicago and hereabouts, too numerous to mention to help them celebrate and a terrific time was had by all. On Sunday at the 8:30 Mass at St. John's church six of the yoQng fdTKS from our fcothrhunity joined their other thirtyfour classmates in their graduation ceremonies. All the gals looked lovely in their pastelcokwwd dresses and the boys looked like real gentlemen in their Sunday-best. The six from here who passed their big milestone that day were: Mary Farley, Cathy Palmer, Patti Voight, Bill Davis, John Fiedler r.rid Bernard Janicki. The parties, as I learned of them, were as follows: Bemi Janicki's godfather, John Pleszwa, and Ms wife and their daughter, Linda, came out early to attend Mast and the graduation ceremonies, and stayed to enjoy breakfast at the Janicki home with the rest of the family, including Berni's Mom and Dad, Alice and Dick, and his sister, Linda. Bill Davis had a big day, too. His maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Doherty, arrived on Friday following a trip through the north they made since leaving home in Moline the previous Tuesday. They spent the weekend with Mary and Red an? the children and caught up on all the news. Bill's other guests were Jack and Louise Doherty and their three children from Maywood (Uncle Jack is Bill's Godfather); his godmother, Dorothy Phee, and her own mother from Elmhurt; his great-aunt and great uncle, Ellen and Oilie Swanson from Chicago; and Red's cousin, Bud and Arlene Swanson and their daughter, Debbie, from Chicago; and . to make the day complete: Grandma and Grandpa Davis from Chicago. Every one had -a really wonderful time and Bill had a grand day. John Fiedler had a surprise celebration. His folks, Eleanor and John,, had told him they would have a small celebration with just their own family and a few of their friends, and then undercover prepared for a big crowd. Just about everyone was able to mftke it, too, and Johnny was surprised beyond words. His guests were: Grandma Cairns from Chicago (she had arrived on Friday to spend the weekend); Jean and Bill Cairns aijd three children; Marge and Ron Cairns and three children; Charlotte and Carl Kriese of DesPlaines and Elaine Krlese of DesPlaines; Maryann and Clarence Fiedler and three children; Grandma and Grandpa Fiedler; LaVerne Fiedler and four children; Shirley and Stewart Olson and five children; Agnes and Tony Gabl and their daughter; Eschie and Robert Gabl; artd Helen and Keith Wegner and their three children. Mary and Ken Cairns were unable to attend due to the fact that their son, James, received his secondary vows at St. Mary's seminary in Perryville, Mo. Marge and Jim Farley held an open house for their daughter, Mary, to help her celebrate her big day. Due to June being so popular with confirmations, graduations, etc.. all their family were not able to attend but the following folks made the trip out for the day: Mary's great-aunts, Eileen Flynn and Grace Lonergan; her greataunt and great uncle: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Allendorfer; her aunt and uncle, Mary and Bob Peachey and their four children; her aunt and uncle. Catherine and Tom Farley and two children; and her aunt and uncle, Connie anh Joe Farley {ind their three children. Everyone had a happy day which made Mary very happy and her day complete. June and Ted Voight, too, held an all day open house for their family and friends, lo help their Patti celebrate her graduation. Their guests included: Gnndma and Grandpa Price and Aunts, Judy, Carol and Mary Eileen; Great Aunt and Uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Shuetz; cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Galles and their two daughters, Mary Beth and Nancy; The families of jesski, Noah and Bott. Patti's paternal grandparents have moved to Tombslone, Ariz., and were therefore unable to attend. They missed a really grand time, but I'm sure their thoughts were with Patti here in Sunnyside Estates. Graduation day at the Palmer house was especially happy for young and old alike. Cathy's maternal grandpnrenls, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Glannini, uncle Joe Giannini, Jr., and great aunt, Mrs. Mary Rosinsky, motored from Evanston for the Mass in the morning-much to her surprise. Also at the Mass with her immediate family mother, father and brothers, Marty and Sherwpod, was her dear neighbor, Mrsr. Alpha.Stophens, better known as "Aunt Velraa." Her Little brother, Larry Joe, was a little too young to attend the Mass - so his Godfather, WJlly Roy, and wife, Irene, were very gracious in taking care of him for them during this early morning hour After the Mass the previously mentioned people, joined by "Uncle Al" Stephens came back to the house for breakfast Shortly after noon the other guests started to arrive for the buffet which was served all day, practically. Among the guests from oyt of town were her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold J. Palmer and Aunt Lenore Palmer from Evanston. From Wheeling, her aunt and Godfather, Mr. and Mrs. Earlen W. Eaton, Jr., and sons, David, Lenny and Jimmy Their oldest son, Tommy, w?^ unable to be here since he is serving a tour of duty in the Mediterranean aboard th< U.S.S. Enterprise. From Guinee her aunt and Godmother, Mrs. Hugh R. Hoyle, and son, Joey. The rest of the family, numbering five, could not at- CAN BE PUT UP Here's ThtEuiftsi Way Evtr to get rid of fly nuisance.
