Terry and Willis Coates spent two days last week at a convention of the National Association of Retired Civil Service Employees, at which Willis served as a delegate from the Oak Park chapter. After a 2 hour lour of the city a banquet was held at one of the hotels, and since they wanted to be back for our picnic they started for home. Saturday was spent down at the beach taking charge of the games and races. Over gratitude to the Coateses and Bob Tanner who gave so much of their time on this project. Bob had charge of the liquid refreshmentstand. Terry and Willis purchased all the ether supplies necessary. Our clown, Clare Mueller, who gave the kids some fun also deserves mention. Although the day turned out a little on the cool side a good time was had by all who attended. On the Saturday we held our picnic we noticed an elderly couple parked at the beach and all were wondering if they were friends of one of the residents but later Walter Wilson got to talking to the man and found out that they watch the column for our events and have been to one of our SSAC cookouts. They come from Round Lake and think our beach and subdivision are so beautiful and that we always have a good time at our affairs., so I guess we should all appreciate our little community. for the day so if you are un-~ able to be there notify him or change with someone else.
