Patty's Progress Patty Baird is now on full activity at the hospital. If all goes well we should soon have her back in our midst. this has been a long stretch tor Patty and when she arrivtes home, she will be limited on activities and visitors. I know you'll all be anxious to see her, but before you go fdr a visit, please check with her mom to make sure that your visit will not tax her too much. To those of you who have kept Up with her progress thru this column, I will contini\e to report on her after she is at home, and let you know when the cards can be sent home instead of the hospital. Holiday Hills Garden Club The Holiday Hills Garden Club met on Friday, July 27, at the home of Joyce Karafa. Thfere were quite a few ladies in attendance, and they were to iron out a number of the usual difficulties and questions that always plague a new organization. A program chairman has been appointed, Lorraine Bemis, and there will be a subject pertaining to gardening thoroughly discussed. The club sounds more and more promising all the time. The next meeting will be held on the last Friday of August at my home iPWmer Residents Visit Here Barbara Csuti and her five children, who now reside in Oimberland, Wis., spent a few days here ih Holiday Hills at the home of Lorraine and Dick Bemis. Sandra, their oldest daughter, spent a week before at the home of her friend, Linda Uhlman. Barbara was thrilled to see all her old neighbors as they were to see her, and states that she still considers Holiday Hills "Home." Judy's Circus Party. Jlidy Abbink celebrated her fifth birthday with a circus party. Her cake, favors, hats and decorations all in the shape of carousels, put the party guests in a gay mood. Her guests were Nancy Harder, Susie White, GiGi Smith and Kim Walters. The Test of her neighbors were invited in for cake and ice cream after her special party was over. Island Lake Anntaal Oar den Club Lnncheon Several ladies of Holiday Hills enjoyed a luncheon and card party presented by the Island Lake Garden Club at the home of Mary Amrich. Lorraine Bemis, a member of the Club was on the committee to do dishes, but she and her guests thoroughly en- Joyed the lurtcheon in Mary's lovely garden. Those who attehded were Mesdames Erickson, Maletrom, Justes and Ary. Neighborly Notes Dolores and Mayo Proefock recently returned from a vacation with relatives in N. Dakota. Ralph Bemis of Chicage spent the day recently with his folks, Dick and Lorraine Bemis. Wendy's Mumps We had the mumps at our house last week. Our Wendy went around looking like she was storing a weeks supply of food in her cheeks. LoS Hartof - Harold and Jeanette Hoffman of 5009 £. Lake Shore Drive celebrated their thirtieth wedding anniversary on Sunday, July 28. Their actual anniversary date was Monday, July 29, but they chose to celebrate a day early. About sixty friends and relatives helped them celebrate the occasion. A roast beef and ham dinner was served and the weather was ideal for spending the day out in the yard and on the beach which everyone dia. Injured At Work Jack Grizzley was injured at work last Thursday and was taken to McHenry hospital where it was reported he had several broken ribs. ' / Firemen's Auxiliary The W. L. Firemen's auxiliary reported their booth at the carnival would never have been the success it was if it hadn't been for the combined efforts of several groups like the Wonder View Women's Club, the Wonder View auxiliary, the Ladies of Highland Shores, and people like Mrs. Culloton and many others who all provided bakeu goods, handicraft, etc., and devoted their time to helping in every way. It's wonderful to see how different groups and individuals will gather forces and come thru with everything that's needed when it's for a really worthwhile cause. This is real community spirit. The auxiliary, themselves, did a pretty fine job too. flnnHI Club Sapper The Wonder Lake Garden Club will hold their annual pot-luck supper on Saturday, Aug. 10 - at 6 p.m., at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Carder, 7301 Falls Lane in Wonder Lake. There will be a short business meeting either before or after the supper. Picnic The Wonder Woods property owners and residents will ht^ld their annual meeting on Beach No. 1 Sunday, August 11, at 1 p.m. followed by the annual picnic. Ordinarily I do this on a peaceful Sunday afternoon - but yesterday yours truly plus the lord and master of the household took a day off. We went to the fair in the afternoon to see the horse races (as a winner-picker I'm not so good) and in the evening we visited friends. We had a wonderful time but now corhfes the revolution -- Here I sit at six o'clock in the morning trying to make bright sayings and it just isn't coming but right. All I can think of is the word -- "sleepy." Besides I only have 45 minutes to get out what usually takes me 3-4 hours. New Grandchild frfriky and Marge Pinkonsly sodality of Christ the King church had their annual weiner roast and party at the home of their president, Mrs. Frank Houda, in White Oaks Bay. There vwere forty-two ladies present and the setting under the trees in the yard was beautiful. Lights were strung thru the trees and even old man moon was shining brightly. It was a perfect evening. After a short talk by Father Vanderpool the officers held a short business meeting. The ladies then played games for prizes and thoroughly enjoyed the delicious hot dogs, cakes, pies, coffee,, and pop. Next regular meeting of the Altar and Rosary will be. at the school- hall, Sept. 5. have acquired another grand child. Their son, Robert, from Sunnyside is the proud father of a baby boy born on July 31 and weighing in at 8 lbs., 4 ozs., and Was named Michael Robert. This makes four for the Pinkonslys so they are running neck and neck with us, wonder who will break the tie. Returning Vacationers Mildred Snively has just returned from a one month trip to Europe, where she visited England, Belgium, Germany, Italy, France and she said it went much too fast. The weather was wonderful and rain fell on only one day in the entire month. The WMtneys spent two weeks in Moose Lake near Hayward, Wis., and went swimming, fishing and water skiing. We have been arouhd that part, of Wisconsin for many of oyr vacations so can vouch for the beautiful scenery and restful atmosphere of the North Woods. Marge and Ray Olszewski drove up and stayed with the Whitneys for a few days and on the way back home they stopped at the Dells and took in the sights. Terry Hastings and her sons, Ray and Michael, visited Los Angeles for two weeks and had a wonderful time in Disneyland and the Movieland Wax Museum. Some time was spent i in driving up and down the coast and around Burhank and the surrounding suburbs and the ocean was a big thrill to all three.
