Jp3%r Page TwefojT THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Thursday, August 15. 1983 Sunnyside Estates NEW BABIES BRING JOY TO LOCAL FAMILIES WliajniXl 385-S10S Two brand new babies have brought much happiness into our community recently. On July 28, Lorraine and Steve Major became grandparents for the first time when Steve, Jr.,s wife, Margaret, gave birth to a baby boy at St. Francis hospital in Evanston. Jeffrey Joseph weighed in at 7 lbs. 5 ozs. Congratulations! On July 31, Audrey and Bob Pinkonsly of Grand view Drive became parents when their son arrived, weighing 8 lbs. 4x'i cz. Baby Michael's arrival £t home is anxiously anticipated by big sister, Carol. Congratulations! Snsremful St. John's summer festival was an apparent success. Although the final word isn't in as of this writing, the hard work of many and the enjoyment of all left it with no choice but to be a big success. Homo Sweet Home That nice young fellow, Louie Falicetti (son of Rose and Tom) has returned»,fj«m California. He very much enjoyed living there with his relatives, but as we all know from experience, "there's tio place like home." Aqua Fans With all the young folks around taking swfmming lessons in the recent past weeks, we ought certainly to have some really terrific swimmers coming up in our great little community. Olrl Scout News Troop 88 spent Tuesday, Aug. 6, having a glorious time. The thirty-eight girls and three adult chaparones started out by bus and their first stop was Dundee, where they took a tour of a popular pottery plant. From there they went to a close-by amusement park. There they enjoyed a ride, a puppet show, a visit with Santa and their lunch. Then the weather turned against them and for fear of getting drenched, they left the park and traveled to a nearby shopping center, where they had the pleasure of watching the ice skaters. They then were given the opportunity of shopping "on their own" in a dime store, each with a "buddy," of course. All in all, their day was a huge success. By sheer coincidence, Troop 295 also took their summer excursion this past week. On Thursday, Aug. 8, eleven Girl Scouts and five guests, plus four adults and three younger folks enjoyed a train ride downtown where they took a twohour tour of Lake Michigan. Following the tour, they had lunch and spent the balance of the afternoon walking around window-shopping until time for their return train trip. It was a truly enjoyable day and the three younger ones (who happened to be mine) had as good ft time as the older girls. As tired and foot-sore as we were when we returned, the talk was about where we could plan on going next year. fttrk LW Janice Major has been mighty sick with a severe case of tonsillitis. And it sure did take the edge out of meeting her new little nephew for the first time, since she was naturally not allowed to go near him, just peek from a distance. Hope that by the time this is in print she will be well again. Red Davis is home recuperating from his recent stfrgery; looking mighty well for himself. Mnrk and Bill returned from Tennessee last Wednesday and Maureen and Monice returned home from Moline on Saturday. Now the family is all back together again and, as usual, happy that way. House Guertta We have a visitor in our humble abode this week. Stan's neire, Peggy Zmudzki, from Chicago is spending a couple of weeks with us. We arranged it so that she would be able to take the trip on Lake Michigan with us, and as I said, we had a ball. It's been a real pleasurehaving her, and Judy especially enjoys having someone other than little brothers and sister around to keep her company. The past week has been a mighty busy one and t he days seem to be literally flying by. Gee. the summer is almost over already, and I haven't done half of the things I planned on.
