Installing officer for the men was Will Carlson, past Mc- Henry county commander from Algonquin post. His assistant sergeant-at-arms was Clarence Hammond, Fox River Grove post 167, former McHenry county chaplain. a As their names were called the men arose and went to the back of the hall. When they had all assembled they marched forward to the rostrum. Mr. Carlson administered the oath of office and explained to each What his duties would be in the Coming year. James Kinzie received a gift of a gavel from Paul Kocan, a resident ot Wonder Lake and a past officer of the Commonwealth Edison post In Chicago. Mr. Kinzie served as commander last year and Was re-elected to serve again this year. Officers installed were as follows,: Commander, James Kinzie; seftior vicecommander, William Kusch; junior vice-commander, Edward Bell; adjutant, John Eberle; finance officer, Otto Hartung; chaplain, Casey Kasperzak; S e r g e a n t - a t - A r m s , W i l b u r Haak. Prior to the installation of the men, the officers of the auxiliary were installed. Installing officer for the auxiliary was Mrs. May Chesak and her installing Sgt.-at-Arms was Mrs. Maisie Blott. Both ladies are from Huntley. The new officers answered roll call and were escorted to the rostrum where Mrs. Chesak administered the oath of office and explained to each what her duties would be. She also commended Mrs. Rose Strojny, outgoing president, on the splendid work done by the auxiliary in the past year. Auxiliary officers for the current year are as follows : President, Lois Haak; first vice-president, Dorothy Michels; second vice-president, Ann Eberle; secretary, Louise Sineni; treasurer, Donna Carr; chaplain, Helen Caley; Sgt.-at- Arms, Rose Strojny. Refreshments were served fefter the installation. Visit To The Southland _ Leigh Perry (Miss Wonder Lake of '63) and Sharon Hoffman took off at 7 a.m. Sunday Mary Lot Harteg morning with Pop Perry's station wagon and Pop Hoffman's gas credit card and headed south. The girls were heading for the Smokies and from there will journey to Hattiesburg, Miss., to visit Leigh's grandparents. From there they will go to Slidell, La., to visit Leigh's godmother and then will go on to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. They plan to be gone about two weeks. Leigh was recently convinced of the goodness of people when she left her wallet on a bus in Chicago and someone found it and put it in the mail and sent it backjto her. This doesn's happen very often nowadays. Happy Anniversary To Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Cannon, Jr., who had their twentysecond wedding anniversary last Friday. They celebrated on Saturday with friends. 5 Hospitalized Eight Wonder Lakers were hospitalized last week in local area hospitals. Sergott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Sergott of 2801 Michael street, Wonder Lake were united in marriage at the Mission Lutheran church in Island Lake Saturday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. After the service, a reception for approxicately fifty guests was held on the lawn at the home of the bride's parents. The young couple will reside in McHenry on Riverside Drive. The groom is in the U.S. Navy and stationed at Great Lakes. Golden Wedding Anniversary Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Ray VonBampus, (former residents of Wonder Lake) will be happy to learn they are celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary. The VonBapuses live at 414 E. Give Ave., in Orlando, Fla. Their anniversary is Aug. 19. Their daughter. Virginia Monteleone, and their son, Dick, and his wife, Hazel, live in Orlando and will celebrate with them. Their other son, Bob, and his wife, Betty, now live in Chilicothe, Mo. I'm sure they would be happy to hear from some of their friends on their special anniversary. Post 1169 News On Sunday, Aug. 4, the big ball game was held. They would rather not talk about the final score but the old men of the post gave the Legion team a good tussle. Some of the usedto- be's who started the game had to take to the bench after a few innings. Not beat out, mind you, but just playing it cagey so they Wouldn't get tired (it says here). But all in all, a very enjoyable afternoon was had. Lots of laughs and lots of aches and groans the next day. If the fellows can get the creaks out of the joints before winter they might try it again soon. The 1964 American Legion dues are now being accepted. Come all you old members and new members too. Let's get those dues in. Let's have Post 1169 in with its 100 per cent first. We can put our heads up high and shout our slogan aloud "We did succeed in '63, let's do more in '64." Families, of the residents of Jak-Ana Heights and Hiller's subdivisions who belong to the association joined forces in picnic fun last Saturday afternoon. Fire And Rescue Squad The men of Station 2 answered two calls last week. One took them to a home on Chapel Hill road and the other was a fire which destroped the old Klapperich barn. The rescue squad also went out on the house call. Saturday evening the rescue squad was summoned to the local bowling alley, where a patron suffered an attack. She was taken to the McHenry hospital for treatment. Monday morning they were called to a home on Pioneer road. Remember to buy your tickets to the rescue squad dance on Aug. 31.
