News Of Your Friends And Neighbors The A. C. Schifferdecker family have moved in to the Sandelin home which they purchased and are all settled. They have two children, both little boys, who love the Highlands already. We wish to welcome the Schifferdeckers to the Highlands and wish them much luck and happiness in their new home and we hope they like living here. August 1 the Morleys enjoyed another baseball game in Milwaukee, a sport they enjoy immensley. They enjoy being one of the crowd. Mary and James O'Neill were very pleasantly surprised August 2 when Mary's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Dan P. Smith of Romelus, Mich., paid them an unexpected visit over the weekend, Dan is Mary's oldest brother and, the two couples enjoyed the short visit. Richie and Dorothy Orlowski spent August 1 through the fourth in Chicago where they attended the Legion convention, Gene Heir spent August 2 through the fourth at the convention. Dorothy drove the very cute fire engine float from Post 703 in the big parade August 4. They all came home with much accomplished but all very tired. Mark and George VanZevern, who are cousins spent two weeks at the camp of Saint Francis in Libertyville, they stayed from August 4 through - the 18 of August. Diana Murgatroyd and family spent the weekend in Maywood with Diana's mother, Charlie joined them after work. While there Diana attended a bridal shower for her brother's fiancee. August 4, found three Highlander families enjoying a day of swimming and picnicking in Twin Lakes, All three families were surprised to find each other there enjoying the day. They were the Dick Morley family, the Mike Rittormo family and the Leuth family. Janice Janquart celebrated her birthday August 9, with her hubby Jerry taking her out for a delicious dinner and a baseball game in Milwaukee. They took their daughter, Cheri, along in celebration of her sixteenth birthday. They presented her with a sweet sixteen corsage. August 8 and 9 Don and Audrey Morin and kiddies spent the two days with Audrey's brother and wife, Robert and Charlotte Anderson, in Neenah, Wis. The tenth and eleventh they visited Don's cousin in Kankakee. Vandals were busy last Sunday evening in the Highlands. The latest victim of tire slashings was the unfortunate Milton Crosdale. His car was parked in the driveway of his home over night and he was shocked in the morning to find a tire completly ruined. August 18, my hubby Wally and I will be entertaining my Aunt and uncle, Paul and Florence Hanley and their daughters, Karen and Donna Moss, her hubby Bill and daughter Mary. This will be our first glimpse of the .seventh month old Mary. Their son, Paul, Jr., and his wife, Judy, and our friends Louise and Reuben Ericson all of Chicago will also be present. I am sorry to report that Paul Johnson is confined in the St. Theresa hospital in Waukegan with a, heart condition, .Mr. Johnson is feeling blue and \depressed and get-well cards would help a lot, so please, everyone let's flood his room with get-well wishes. August 4, Norm and Pat Pedersen and kiddies attended the archery club picnic held at the archery range in McHenry on Route 120. They enjoyed some delicious venison and bear roasts along with roasted corn and all the trimmings. Norm is a very active archer and has many awards for his markmanship in this endeavor. He enjoys hunting with bow and arrow and from all reports never misses his target. August 4, at 4:30 p.m. 70 year old William Vangermert of Chicago, a visitor at the home of George Pecenka, of 108 Pleasant View Drive, fell in the kitchen and suffered a broken hip, the Johnsburg Rescue squad came to his rescue and took him to the McHenry hospital for x-rays which proved his hip was broken. After treatment he' was removed to a Chicago hospital. The Pecenkas feel very badly over his injuries since he was a most welcome visitor. The rescue squad gave prompt assistance. Let's hope when they come around with their tickets for their annual dance in September every one1 will take tickets to support this fine organization.
