Mrs. Wagner was born in Volo May 4, 1877, and was a lifelong resident of that area. The deceased was a member of St. Gilbert's church and its Altar and Rosary sodality. Her husband, Sylvester, preceded her in death in 1933. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George (Clara) Vasey of Waukegan and Mrs. Arthur (Viola) Kaiser of Woodstock; ono son, Arthur, of Grayslake, with whom she made her home for twentyeight years; a sister, Magdalina Bohr, of McHenry; seven grandchildren, eleven greatgrandchildren and six greatgreat grandchildren. The body will rest at the Strang funeral home in Grayslake until Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock, when a requiem mass will be sung at St. Gilbert's church, followel by interment in St. Joseph's cemetery, located west of Round Lake. EDWARD SUMNER Edward Sumner, 56, of 1811 Greenwood, Evanston, was pronounced dead on arrival at McHenry hospital Tuesday, Aug. 13. The deceased was a guard for Brinks, Inc. The body was taken to the Peter M. Jus ten & Son fxlneral home and then removed Ito the Scott chapel in Evanston. COURT BRIEFS Justice Court When he appeared in the court of Justice of the Peace Charles M. Adams last Saturday, Allen J. Belli of Chicago paid a $10 fine for speeding. Donald J. Mahal of Wonder Lake had a $10 fine imposed for having an illegal exhaust system. Magistrate Court Elfriede Hoell of Woodstock had a $25 fine imposed when she was found guilty of speed ing in the court of Police Magistrate Donald Howard last Thursday evening. Foreman 1716 Flower, Lakeland Park, son of Mrs. Mildred Foreman, enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 27. Eugene is now at Ft. Knox, Ky., taking his basic training. After this is completed he will receive his advanced training, and then will move on to Ft. Benning, Ga., for paratroopers' training, his enlistment option. John H- Moss, Jr., 411 Mineral Springs, McHenry, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Moss, enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 29. John's enlistment option was for officers candidate school. John is now taking his basic at Ft. Knox, Ky., and when this is completed he will then move on for his officers' training. John is a 1963 graduate of Northern Illinois university at DeKalb. A gasoline explosion in one of the Armstrong power |boats at Emerald Park created quite a sensation at Emerald Park Wednesday. The bqat which was badly damaged was occupied by several members of the family at the time some of which were so frightened they jumped into the river. From quarter of a century news comes the item that the enterprising firm of Stoffel and Blake, whose store can be found in Riverside block, have just put a new steamboat on the river to run between this village and Fox Lake. They will use it for the purpose of delivering goods to their customers around the lakes. This is a new and novel enterprise. Robert Martin, Gerald and Charles Newman left Tuesday afternoon for Fargo, N. D., where they expect to assist ill the harvest fields for the next few weeks. Richmond is anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Public Service company. The line is to be extended into the village from Johnsburg or McHenry. Forty Years Ago Taken From The Files Of Aug. 7, 1923 Barring serious delays, the traveling public will be riding over cement road between Mrs. Kennebeck's farm east of this city and Volo some time between now and Nov. 1. Walter Fay, son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Fay, is the first of the local World War veterans to receive his bonus check. He has purchased a Ford car and with his wife is planning on an overland trip to Idaho. Albert Barbian of this city and Louis McOmber of Highland Park have returned from a week's motor trip through Wisconsin during which they visited many places of interest and made* good use of the-tourist camps. Fire totally destroyed the large cattle pavilion, a smaller barn and four silos on the Haeger stock farm near Algonquin early Monday morning with a loss of about $30,000. The origin of the fire is unknown and the insurance carried is small. . In response to invitations which had previously been extended them sixty-five young people gathered at the home of Miss Maud Curr on Green street Wednesday afternoon where they were most royally entertained. During the afternoon a group ,)hoto of the gathering was taken by H. C. Bobb, local photographer. At a late hour lunch including a bride's cake in which a gold ring was secreted was served. Miss Mary Brefield was the lucky winner o£, the rigg.. , £ John W. Reihansperger of West Chicr jo, father of C. W. Reihansi ger local hardware dealer, and employee of Chicago and Northwestern railroad company for fifty-five years, made his last run Tuesday and is now on the pension list. During his service he traveled more than 2,000,000 miles. He started work with the railroad when fourteen and has been an engineer'forty-six years. Twenty-five Years Ago Taken From The Files Of Aug. 11, 1938 Pauline Palmer Chicago painter of note, and member of the McHenry Old Timers club, whose childhood was spent in this vicinity, is critically ill with pneumonia in Tron theim, Norway. She was traveling with h( r sister, Miss Mai Lennards, in an artists tour being conducted by Dudley Crafs Watson, critic and lecturer. Mrs. N. C. Klein, a former McHenry resident, died at St. Therese hospital, Waukegan, Monday morning. She was stricken with paralysis while preparing supper for guests at hey home Sunday evening and never regained consciousness. She was born in Kenosha, Wis., Aug. 11, 1873 and spent the greater part of her life in Milwaukee, Wis. A reunion of the Mrs. Catherine Young family was held at the old homestead, south of town, now owned by Mr. arid Mrs. Stephen N. Schmitt, Suit day, with twenty-nine membeta present from Dayton Ohio, Elgin, Waukegan, Ringwood and McHenry. Dnnner and supper were served and a happy day spent in games, cards and visiting.
