Faith Presbyterian Church Tht pastor and family will be in Minnosto for a week's vacation. The sermon topic at Faith Presbyterian church for Sunday, AUK. will be "Eternal Life What Is It?" based on John 3. The guest minister will be Mr. Rosier G. Lewis, a senior at Mt'Cormack Theological seminary in Chicago. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 8 p.m., the Christian Education committee will meet at the church. Cub Scoot* Pack 162 Den 1 made a trip to a local manufacturing company where they make leather products. The boys watched them glue leather welting that is used for baseball gloves. They also saw gaskets cut. A wonderful time was had and they came home loaded with leather trimmings. That will keep them busy for awhile. There will be a pack meeting Thursday, Aug. 29th, at 7:15 p.m. at the barn in Eastwood Manor. The theme for the itionth is 'Treasure Hunt." Boys are to bring flash lights and wear their uniforms. They will be accompanied by their parents on the treasure hunt. ' Get Well Wishes To Mel Griffeth, who is in Wesley Memorial hospital in Chicago as a result of an automobile accident on Wednesday of last week. He is in traction and x-rays are being taken. Also to Jerry Ryan's father, Jerry Ryan, Sr., of Arlington Heights, who is in Arlington Heights hospital as the result of a recent heart attack. He Is doing very well and should be home next week. Around The Manor On Friday the Kuck home was a beehive of activity as there was a surprise birthday party being held for Barbara, who became 1.3 years of age this last week. Lunch was served, consisting of hot dogs and all the trimmings, and birthday cake and ice cream. The cake was decorated with a horse, Barbara's favorite animdl. Games were also played. The young ladies present were Barbara Krispin and friend, Gale, Karen Smedberg, Sue and Karen Betke, Beth Saynor and Jo Ann Qual. On Saturday evening. Walt and Eleanor Kuck attended a Bowlerama at a local establishment with members of their boat club. Sunday they spent the day boating. Monday visitors were Eleanor's cousin, Lil Bonk, and daughter, Dorothy. On Sunday my husband and I and the children made a trip to Brookfleld Zoo. We had dinner at a nearby restaurant. We then stopped to see my mother and sister and family in ElmjjUrst. To end the day, on the way home, we stopped for a short visit in Wheaton at the home of my brother, Norman Rick, and family. On Sunday, Mel and Louise Griffeth and family spent the day with Mel's twin brother, Milton, in Park Ridge, to celebrate their birthday. Their mother and older brother, Ben Griffeth, and family were- also present. Sunday, Ed and Irene Betke and daubhfers attended a picnic from their old neighborhood in Chicago. Fred and Pam Woodbury and son also attended. They spent a very pleasant day renewing old acquaintances. On Monday they had dinner and visited with Ed's sister, Mary Jane Tee, and family. Jerry Ryan's grandmother, Mrs. Martha Schmidt, of Arlington Heights, is visiting in the Kynn home this week. The Harry Brodin family ami the Elmer Urbans and Bi h have just returned from week's vacation at Lac Lrn Flambeau, Wis. They had a wonderful time swimming and fishing. Jim Pen nick spent a couple of days in Ft. Monmouth and while hre was gone, Dee and the children attended the Lake County Fair in Grayslake. When he returned, they packed up and left for a vacation at I^ake of the O/.arks in Missouri. They sjjont a very nice vacation with friends who were vacationing nearby. It seems that friend.O-Tom and Rita Thompson and family, of Duck Lake Woods had a cottage two doors away and Glen and Laura Williams and kids of Palatine were camping nearby. Randy, Dee and friend, Rita, learned to single ski while there. They also took in the "Ozark Opry" and a small rodeo. They also went to dinner by boat one evening. They came home physically tired but relaxed. They are looking forward to the time when the three families can get together to see all the movies and pictures. Linda Weigman has just returned from a two-week stay at Girl Scout Camp Far Horizon at Hanover, 111. She had a wonderful time. Dick and Lydia Fenner and family spent a week's vacation at Athelstone, Wis. They visited a trout hatchery, deer farm, and went swimming every day. They visited with friends, Fred Bergstrom and Wally Gawluch, while there. They also stopped to see the National Railro&d Museum near Green Bay, Wis., and visited National Goodman park where everything was Indian fashion. Lydia also attended the Legion auxiliary convention this last week. It was a very wonderful experience. She had the pleasure of meeting Mayor Daly while there. Mueller of nearby McHenry Shores with a certificate of appreciation, in album form, for his assistance in laying out an award presentation for Aled P. Davies, trustee of the Foundation and vice-president of the American Meat Institute. The suggested layout was adapted, in part, as an award to the contributors in its world goal: Freedom from Hunger. Mr. Mueller is past president and secretary of the SSAC club and chairman of the board of directors of the McHenry Shores club, a community home owners' group. He was writer of this column in the Plaindealer for more than a year. Here And Tliere On Saturday afternoon the SSAC club held a horse shoe tournament at the baseball diamond and Ed Olbinski had high score, Jack Schmitt was second and Chuck Whitney came in third. Some of the couples got together for a community supper, each one bringing something to share and after dark they all had a corn roast and danced and visited til the small hours of Sunday morning. About 7 dozen ears of corn were . consumed and t hats a lot of corn. On Sunday, the eleventh, Clare and Irene Mueller attended the christening of their new granddaughter, Theresa Marie, at St. Walter's church in Roselle. Pat Mueller and John Michael were Godparents. The proud parents are Phyllis and Henry Both of Bloomingdale 111. Julie and Sam Zeimet drove to Menominee Falls, Wis., on Monday to visit Julie's aunt, who has been recuperating from a fall. Julie's mother, Mrs. Kallas, went with them. Butchy Hatton celebrated his fifth birthday Friday afternoon by hairing some friends in for a party. The children who helped make the day a success were Jim Eurke, Billie and Jimmie Dostal, Robby Mueller , Ray Hastings, Debby and Laura Calvert and Chucky Whitney. Brian and Missy Calcert came over afterward and joined the fun. John Smith spent two weeks in Mercer, Wis., writh friends from Wonder Lake. A tour to Cedar Island and Ironwood, Mich., was included in between fishing and resting. John says it is pretty wild up there, and he saw bears and deer, but not many fish. John and Marie Hinz tnade a quick trip to Chicago last week as their grandson, Allen Hess, was taken to the hospital unexpectedly. He will probably be in for the rest of the week while they are taking tests but we hope everything turns out all right and he will be able to go home soon. Well, this is it for today.
