A temporary president and secretary were appointed and it was decided that a meeting for election of officers would be held on Tuesday, August 20, at 7:15 p.m. At this meeting the election of officers was held. The officers of the teen club for the coming year are: Tom Mc- Cormack, president; Dennis Moore, vice-president; Lynn Saynor, secretary; Kathy Bternick, treasurer, Mike Sobacki, sergeant-at-arms. It was also decided that "the meetings will be held first and third Tuesday of the month and that the dues would be 25 cents a month and due on the first Tuesday of the month. There ^vvill be a dance held on Sunday, Sept. 1 from 6 to 10 p.m. Each member may bring two guests. The decorations committee for the dance are: Cheryl Filip, Alice Weirich, Dennis Moore and Lynn Saynor. The Teen Club is for teens 13 thru 19 years of age who are residents of Eastwood Manor only. Each member will be allowed two non-resident guests for social functions only. Lynn Saynor Secretary-Reporter E. M. P. O. A. A meeting was held of the E.M.P.O.A. on Friday Aug. 16, at 9 p.m. The members discussed goals for the future which are a float for the Fiesta Day parade next year; acquiring a mower for E.M.P.O.A. to use around the barn for the baseball field, etc., also having a little league team within the subdivision; street lighting and cleaning of the slough. Nominations were accepted from the floor for officers for the coming year. They were: Chairman, Dick Weigman and Glen Messer; Vice-Chairman, A1 Bianchi, Elmer Borcovan, Marilyn Salo; Treasurer, Kay Mitchell, Charlotte Urban, Larry Moore; Recording Secretary, Larry Moore, Marge Brodin, Pat Borcovan; Corresponding secretary, Dottie Messer, Charlotte Urban; Board of Directors, Fred Woodbury, Harry Durkin, A1 Bianchi, Gil, Moore, Elmer Urban. Written nominations will be accepted by any officer ten days before the next meeting which will be held Sept. 20. Barn Renovating The chairman of the barn renovating committee, Gil Moore, would like it be known that W. Barnes did the fine cement work and Fred Woodbury donated the electrical outlets needed. Ping p<?ng tables and an occasional table have also been donated. Bridge Club The bridge club was held at the Rita Simpson home. Marilyn Truckenbrod took first prize, Haroldine Peck took travelling prize and Marian Kriemier, booby prize. Refreshments were served. Eastwood Manor Picnic Don't forget the E.M.P.O.A. picnic that will be held Sunday, Sept. 8, at the barn in Eastwood Manor. Each family will bring a dish to pass (and a dollar which will cover the cost of the prizes and fixing of the barn. Guests are welcome. Around The Manor Wayne and Leota Rollins of Rome, Ga., were visitors for five days at the Lonnie Campbell residence. Many of you will remember Leota and Wayne as they were former McHenry residents. A birthday party was held this last week for Shirley Campbell who became ten years of age. Games were played and refreshments of cake, punch and ice cream were served. Her guests were Susan Kelsey, Cindy Miller of Wauconda, Kerry Moore, Gary Stoll, Ricky Weigman and Ricky Woolwine. Gil and Caroline Congdon spent four days in Lincoln, Neb., visiting the Art Feagins whom they hadn't seen in ten years. Mr. and Mrs. Feagin spent last week in Chicago where Mr. Feagin attended a convention and Mrs. Feagin came to McHenry to spend some time with the Congdons. The Don Roths journeyed to Crystal Lake, Wis., for five days, swam, fished and had a wonderful time. On Tuesday evening the Tom Simpsons and the Tom Birminghams attended a Drum and Bugle Corps contest in Waukegan. Theresa Birmingham made heF first appearance with the Viscount color guard that evening. John and Marie Dalton had as Sunday visitors Marie's Dad and wife, the Steve Stattmans of Elmwood Park, her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stattman of LaGrange, and her great aunt, Gertrude Stattman of River Grove, John's aunt, Mrs. Alice McNamara, also came out and stayed the week. They had a cookout to celebrate David's third birthday. Monday the Harry Durkin family visited Hawthorne Mellody Farm and on Thursday journeyed to Brookfield Zoo. The Eternick family visited Cave of the Mounds in Blue Mounds, Wis. They then visited relatives at Columbus, Wis., and also Dorothy's grandmother Anna Huebner who is hospitalized. They spent a few days at the farm of the Edwin Brennemans at Portage, Wis., where A1 got in some carpenter work. On Saturday the Walt Kucks visited Art and Mary Rucker at Niles. Sunday they went boating and water-skiing at Lake Marie with Sue Betke as guest. Guests at our home on Saturday afternoon were our nephew, Ed Pauley, and sons, Greg and Eddy Lee. All our prayers were answered yesterday when my mother, Mrs. Rick of Elmhurst, came safely out of a serious eye operation. Tom Burke cut all the grass at the beach on Saturday, the 17th, which was a big help to the boys that Sunday, News Items Visitors of the Marvin Burchfields over the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Buford Peacock and daughter, Lynne, of Santa Maria, Calif. Dick and Elaine Bonnefoi and their children, Kathy and Donald, from Chicago were guests of the Calverts for dinner Saturday. Joyce's parents, Mr. and Mrs. McClanahn stopped in on the way back from a vacation trip around Lake Michigan before heading for home. Tracy Brunke has earned a Red Cross swimmer card which makes her eligible for Junior Life Saving. Since Tracy is only 12 years old, this is quite a feat. The Vilims were on their vacation the first week in August and went to Beaver Island, Mich., which is an island in Lake Michigan, and went swimming in the lake and also had a heated pool for those who wanted to be comfortable. Horse back riding was also enjoyed. The two-and-one-half hour trip home on the ferry was pretty rough as the old lake was acting up that day, but the family agreed that it was fun anyhow. The Sewing club, met at Shirley Harper's house on Aug. 20 and Alice Brunke, Dorothy Vilim, Pat Petersen. Mary Petersen, and Joyce Lexow enjoyed a sociable evening. The next meeting will be on Sept. 3 at Pat Petersen's home. Some of the children in the Shores have pen pals in foreign countries and Shirley and Barb Vilim and Kathy and Susan O'Brien are writing to kids la Australia. According to a letter Bill received she is going to stay there for a longer period than first planned so it looks like she is finding the city very interesting.
