Martinetti's, Art outstanding east from Crystal Lake will star in their adaptation of "Carnival," the appealing story of an orphan gtrl who is befriended by a band of carnival performers. The story tells of her adventures in the world of puppets and clowns. Joan Dunham plays the orphan girl, a role made famous in the original production by Anna Marie Alberghetti. Nancy iKing will appear as the clown and Jack Delano as the puppeteer. Barbara Sherman will provide Che musical accompaniment. Puppets, set* and costumes reminiscent of the original play have been designed by the cast. Reservations may be made by contactinp the club president, Mrs, Raymond Spohr. The guest of honor received her gifts from beneath an umbrella decorated in emerald green and white, which will be the color scheme of the wedding attire. They were married on Saturday, Aug. 17, in St. Mary's Catholic church, McHenry, with Rev. Fr. Eugene Baumhofer officiating. GOP Women To Open Season Mrs. Dorothy Miller, president of the McHenry Township Republican Women's club, has announced plans for the seventh anniversary celebration of the tinding of the McHenry Township Republican Women's club. Tuesday, Sept. 17, will open the club's 1963-64 season, as well as mark the birthday celebration. Mrs. Tony Varese has offered her home to the women for the day's meeting, opening at 4 p.m., with cards and boating available. The bride is manager of the Studio and Camera shop on Riverside Drive and the bridegroom is a painter by trade. Ted Graham and Attorney Robert Stueben left Tuesday night by plane for Washington, I). C., to attend the Civil Rights parade Wednesday. While there Mr. Stueben will he admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Stueben spent the weekend at the Wisconsin Dells. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bauer of Milwaukee spent the weekend with their parents, the Joseph L. Bauers, near Volo. Mr. and Mrs. J. Matchen and Linda Rae Larson have just returned from a pleasant trip to Ann Arbor, Mich., where they visited Kenneth Larson, a student at the University of Michigan the last three ye^us. He is now enlisting in the Air Force for four years, and sent home with his mother a "hello" to old friends in McHenry. Bridal Couple THE JOSEPH J. CRICKS On Tuesday, Sept. 3, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Crick of 4920 Fountain lane, McCullom Lake, are observing their golden wedding anniversary. More than fifty years ago in Kentucky, a small, darkeyed girl named Mattie Jackson watched new neighbors move in next door. She pointed out one of the Crick brothers and told her mother that he would some day be her husband. Her prediction came true, and today, fifty years later, the bride and groom of 1913 are observing their golden wedding anniversary. They are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Crick of McCullom Lake. On Sunday, Sept, 1, they will greet relatives and friends at their home in honor of the occasion. In May of 1938 they came to McCullom Lake, which they have called home for the last quarter of a century. Many folks will best remember Mr. and Mrs. Crick during the many years when they operated the Royal Blue store at the Lake. He is now self employed in electrical work. A lucky group of Chicagoans previewed the 1977 Miss America contest Saturday as seven diminutive Illinois beauties vied for the crown of 1963's Kiwanis Little Miss Peanut at the Sheraton-Chicago hotel. The new Little Miss UPeanut is Patrice Neuman, T, of Portage Park. Runners-up were Adrienne Ostfeld, 7, sponsored by the Kiwanis club of Edgebrook, and Susan Hickey, 6, sponsored by the Kiwanis club of DesPlaines. No bigger than peanuts themselves, the seven little girls earned the right to be finalists after winning local and regional Little Miss Peanut contests. The winner will reign as queen of the Kiwanis Kids' Day peanut sale Friday, September 27, and the other finalists will comprise her royal court. The contest is an annual event sponsored by the Chicagoland Kiwanis clubs, and Little Miss Peanut symbolizes the youth who benefit from money collected during the peanut sale.
