Baptized Sunday, Sept. 1, lovable little Miss Prazak joined the folds of the Roman Catholic church through the blessed Sacrament of Baptism. As Rev. Parker poured the holy water and baptized, Jol-Lynn she tried very hard to assist her proud Godparents in answering the prayers for herself. A wonderful turkey dinner preceded the baptism. Those attending were mom, Agnes, dad, Joe, brothers, Kenny and Donnie, grandma, Rose, grandma and grandpa Slechta, Jerry Josefik, godparents, Kay and Ed Druml and their sons, Dennis and Kevin. Later great aunt and uncle, Lil and John Lukes visited, they travelled 200 miles for the occasion. Later in the evening Gloria, Ken, Jolene and Frank Vanek, Dolores, Don and Mike Hamer, Lil Benes and her children, Eleanor and Clar Haerle, Barb and Ron Meurer and grandma Hajicek all attended a party in Jol-Lynn's honor. The entire day was wonderful. My husband Eddie and I have' the honor of being Jol- Lynn's godparents and our fervent prayer is that The* Infant Jesus will always keep our Godchild close to Him and rich in good health, happiness and lasting friendships. May The Infant Jesus bless you always, Jol-Lynn. Belated Birthday Greetings We're very sorry our early deadline last week prevented our getting the birthday of this young lass into the paper when we learned the date. We hope Pam Schwegel enjoyed her twelfth natal day she celebrated on the second of this month. Also our very best wishes even tho' belated go to Shirley Koch who celebrated on the twelfth. • very tender 1. On Sept. 15 Joey Paris! will be that fun loving age of 3 and Junior Przetacznik will be 6. The seventeenth Chuck Fernstrom will be 11. Donald Kaminski will be 9 on Sept. 18 and Bob Townsend reaches age 15 on Sept. 19. To each of you goes our very best wishes for your own special day and for all the days to follow. School Days Many a mother in our subdivision spent the first few days of the youngsters return to school a littled dazed, the tranquillity of days got the best of many of us, but there were some cute things that did help to cheer us. The little boy who began kindergarten and wanted books and lunch to take along. The confussion of busses, the large stacks of books trying to be carried. Bigger brothers and sisters helping their younger sisters and brothers finding their way. On the not so amusing side of the ledger was the lost wallet of one of our fine young ladies, the holes in the knee of brand new pants of one of our fine young lads but 1 think the pay off was the one of this happy, go lucky young lad whose mother had given him a can of pop because they were unable to get milk at school last week. The lad couldn't drink the whole can so decided to save it and bring it home. He couldn't understand why it leaked all over his clothes, desk and floor at schol. After all he had put it into 2 baggies and in his lunch box. He explained to his mom that on T.V., a baggie holds a cup of coffee so why wouldn't it hold his pop. Kevin, I shall enjoy repeating this to my grand children for I think it was realy cute, pop stained clothes and all. I'also think it taught you a lesson, don't believe every thing you hear, learn from experience. Sept. 16; at 7 p.m. at the Community house. All boys of 8 years of age who want to join should plan on attending as well as the registered Cubbers and all parents. The Pack is also in need of Den mothers so how about some of you mothers giving Cubmaster Bob Matthews a call and offer to help. Deepest Sympathy ai Our deepest sympathy fs, e: tended to the Bill Kamp family on the recent loss of his aunt. Coming Birthdays This coming week has Mark Allen Slonina turning 1 on Sept. 13. The following day Karen Johnson celebrates as do Herby Kane and Joanne Gladman who will both be 8 and Cathy Lynn Knor who will be Hope You're Better We hope by this time the virus bug which felled Pam Schwegel last week and prevented her return to school has left and that Pam has had her seige for quite a long time. Mrs. Mary Lanz is on the list of not being up to par and we know she would love seeing from her friends with a phone call or visit. Get-well wishes also go to Bob Schwetz who was laid up with a sprained ankle last week and to Jim Gray who spent a few days in the hospital, also to Grace Campo who is sporting a sore tail bone after falling down the front steps. Our best wishes also to Teresa Kroening who is recuperating from an inflammed hip socket. She had to be flat on her back for a week, she's now up and will be able to go to school. Our very best also goes to Maureen Johnson. up day at the Community tlouse, 10 a.m. till--. Any of you lads in that age bracket who would like to play football or learn how to play please, contact either Joe Prazak of Ken Grothman. Hope you lads have lots of fun and give these two men a good team. Little League News Due to our early deadline last week's paper we were unable to list the All Stars two final scores. Our boys went to Wonder Lake and defeated them by a 5 to 1 score. The first place Orioles were also defeated by the All Stars over the weekend. They ended with a total of 3 wins and 2 losses. Now that the season is officially over please, parents and boys get your uniforms returned to your teams manager so they can be stored and checked for next year. Return them clean and with buttons on. Another reminder that you can obtain the leagues dance tickets from any player, manager or coach. The date is Sept. 28. Why not plan on going. The next meeting of the leagues parents is set for Sept. 18. That's on a Wednesday, time is 7:30. These meetings are open to all parents. This month's is of great interest as it is election for the coming year's officers so mark the date down now and ALL PARENTS should plan on attending. Scout Roundtable All scout leaders, den mothers, committee men your monthly roundtable meeting is tonight, Thursday, Sept. 12, at Grace Lutheran church in Woodstock at 8 p.m. Hope our troop and pack is well represented. Cub Scout Pack The first pack meeting for this year is to be on Monday, Birthday Doings A surprise birthday party for Mrs. Hattie Manning was held as Leonora Abbott's home on Friday, Aug. 29. Those attending were Eva Bott, Lorraine Arient, Carole Humann and Beulah Hoard. We wish to extend belated birthday wishes to Hattie whose actual birthday was on Aug. 30. Debbie George celebrated her seventh birthday last Saturday with the help of twelve of her girl friends. A pretty doll cake made by her mother was the center of attraction. Billy Eckhart really knows he turned 11. He had a series of not one but three parties at which his natal day was celebrated. They began on the first day of this month when the Eckhart family travelled to Chicago to have a double celebration honoring son Billy and Nedra's sister. On his actual birthday Sept. 5 the Eckharts entertained Mr. and Mrs. Walter Haug and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Wimmer. Then on Saturday Billy was guest of honor at a picnic lunch for nine of his chums, John Arient, Robbie and David Wickenkamp, Allen and Stevie Plucinski and Jerry and Joey Selefski. They all had a terrific time and enjoyed proud mom, Nedra's cooking. We'd say this was quite a birthday celebration. Daurio and of course Arlene and Frank Bartos. Delia and Bob Kroening and their family spent the day before Labor Day at Fritzsches Estates at a reunion with seven other families. This was the first time in 5 years they had all gotten together so we imagine there was a lot of gossip to catch up on. They also played games and had an egg throwing contest. Sounds like they all had a ball. Don Humann brought home Ws limit of fish after spending the Labor Day weekend in Canada fishing with a buddy of his. Den mother, Murph Kwiatek of Den 4, took her Cubbers fishing recently. They had a real good time even though the fish didn't cooperate. The pack plus a few others and a group of adults attended the stock car races in Wilmont last Saturdey. Their presence was announced over the P.A. system at the park and gave the Cubbers a big thrill. From all reports they had a real good time. Also heard that Den mother, Aggie Prazak, and Ron Meurer know how to pick the winners. The pack has a trip to O'Hare field planned for the of October. We were very sorry to hear that Petey Oakford's mother is hospitalized in Chicago. She suffered a heart attack but as we write this edition we've been told she is much improved. Lyda and Bill Radisch have had another of their famous busy weeks. They spent a week visiting with Lyda's brother, Ralph Kendig in Oak Park. While they were there, their daughter, Jackie Riley, frand her family also visited. They had just about entered their home here when their other daughter and her family the Lexows arrived as well as Lillian and Bill Treber from Park Ridge and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bell from Norridge. Lyda and Bill are among the eleven couples from their church that are organizing an Over 50 club. These couples had their first affair over the weekend which was a picnic at Veteran's Acres. They played all sorts of crazy games and enjoyed the community sing around the camp fire most of all. Understand they had a riot and the club's birthday party honoring their daughter, Jackie Riley and granddaughter, Little Lyda was held at Radisches. Wonder wAere they find all the energy, we could both use some. Bill Struwe and Jim Kujak just returned from a vacation in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Understand they enjoyed themselves very much. Helen and Gene Kraskiewicz are taking advantage (ft every bit of good weather. They love picnics and had another of their famous ones over the weeekend. Having a real good time were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dudko and baby son, Helen and Gene's son, Gene Jr., and his wife as well as their daughter's family, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Thompson and their ffv* children. The Hromecs were visited by Laverne's dad on Sunday from Colorado. The Mecic family spent a week of camping and visiting all the wonderful places of interest in Springfield. We just learned that Robert Humphries had been quite ill, we're sorry we didn't know but are real glad to report that he is much better now. Please, everyone remember this is your column, we merely try to write it, if you don't let us know things we can't do the column so come oil everyone give us your news. Every one likes to read about what's going on, especially with bad weather almost here. People just don't seem to see one another as often. Those fun living, active couples and their children, the Laursens, Funks and Gladmans spent this past weekend camping out at Castle Rock, Wis. They left here at 1 a.m. and arrived at 5. The adventurous boys immediately began exploring and found a wasps nest. Seems the wasps didn't enjoy being found and proceeded to sting each one. They did enjoy swimming, fishing and sharing one anothers company as only a camping trip can be enjoyed. IT PAYS TO ADVERTISE This Badge Entitles You To Be A Sidewalk Superintendent NYE'S REMODELING McHenry'g Friendliest Drug Store Remodeling to Serve You Better Bill Nye Strolling Through The Park Jerry Wagner had Arlene Anderson and Audrey Benson as her guests for luncheon last Friday. These gals have been friends for quite a long time, they all attended school together and were graduated together. Edith, Jack and Kevin Lavin visited with long time friends last week. The trip to Lexington, Ky., was very enjoyable. A couple of hardworking gals on Prairie Avenue are Gloria Vanek and Lil Benes. As Lil's house is going up, they are right behind with their paint brushes and buckets and are really going to town. Gloria wields a mean paint brush and we wonder if she holds a union card. The rest of their families have returned to the city to work and attend school but these hard working girls are sticking around until the house is finished. We mentioned last weds that the Braves baseball team had hot dogs and such at the Bartos home but we didn't mention the boys names, so here they are; Tommy Bockman, Tom Uttich, Jim Daurio, Larry Oakford and his little brother Billy, Mike and Tommy Daurio and Mark and Greg Bartos The adults were, Dottie and Irv Becker, Mary and Jim you can ham R UNLIMITED in seconds No longer do you nssd to March for the 'paint you went In the color you wanf.
