In explaining the meaning ot his theme he said: "The "R" meant Rotary; the "A" to aim for action; the "I" for inspiration; "S" for service and "E" for effort." Judging from the reports that President Herb Reihansperger has just received, Governor Dick is making his theme song into a reality although he has been in office just three months. He has completed forty-one official visits out of a possible sixty. At present we have sixty Rotary clubs in our district and it is mandatory that the governor make at least one official visit to each club in his district during his term in office. It would seem that the "R" for Rotary is very well taken care of. The district institute was held, where an all time record of attendance was made by the presence of 308 district Rotarians who broke records m participation and program acceptance as noted by a special citation to the governor from Rotary International. Also 644 set an all-time record for attendance for the month of September with an average of 86.39. That would seem to take care of ths "A" for aim for action and the "I" for inspiration. The Rotary vocational conference scheduled for Dec. 3 to be held at Starved Rock lodge, the District 644 conference slated for April 14 and IS, and the international convention at Toronto, Canada, in June, 1964 should take care ot "S" for service and "E" for effort on Governor Dick's part. By the way, Dick has to* earn a living for his Rotary Ann, Pat, and his two lovely daughters by operating a sporting goods store as all this service above self for Rotary is on a non-pay basis. Any candidates from our club for district governor next year? i-- Women of the Moose The convocation for Wisconsin was held Oct. 27 at Kenosha. The deputy grand regent in charge was Jeanette Marty of Monroe chapter and the address of welcome was made by Celia Kehl of Kenosha. Guest speakers were Ada Speich of Monroe and Ann Nelson of Madison. Three vocal selections were given by young Van Thompson. McHenry's junior graduate regent, Alyce Kowal, was soon welcomed by others from Milwaukee, Fox Lake, Waukegan and Antioch. Edith Koepp of Milwaukee was the capping officer to place the Green cap on Alyce, which she will wear the rest of her year as junior graduate regent. A total of 150 registered for the convocation, among them twenty-nine from Illinois. A scholarship fund was announced at $197 and the Mooseheart endowment fund at $21.84.
