Home I am very happy to report that Emil Weber returned home from the McHenry hospital Saturday, Nov. 2. Emil is feeling just fine now. Ladies League - Held its monthly meeting ^Wednesday, Nov. 6. At this "meeting all officers were present. After the business on 'hand was taken care of the Iladies played bunco. Winners -were Lou Gravenstuk, Sharon 'Meyers and Mary Sebesta. 1 Booby prize was won by Ann -Bolda. Hostess for the evening "was Viola Arbogast. Grass Fire The Lakemoor and McHenry •fire departments were called jjut Sunday, Nov. 3, to put out a grass fire on North and Lily Lake road. Because of the peet the fire department had to return to make sure the fire did not blaze up again. With no rain everything is very dry so please be careful when burning trash. And parents please warn your children how dangerous it is playing with matches around dry leaves and grass. Get-Woll Wishes go to Charlie Rogers Charlie entered the McHenry hospital Sunday, Nov. ?, with a very bad case cf the flu. Here's hoping you are home now Charlie and are in the pink of health. Well I am happy to report that Roy Tobey is just fine now after a two weeks illness. Shelter Repaired The shelter on Lily Lake and Southside Avenue has been repaired by John Behrendt and Theron Young. It also has been painted by Marion Leske. Kids now that it has been repaired please don't go destroying it again. Because this time if you are caught your parents will have to pay out the money to have it repaired. The shelters were paid for and put up by the parents for you to use while waiting for the school bus in the winter time to give you protection from the Are You Interested in learning how to make clothes, drapes and other interesting things? Well now you can. The ladies are forming a sewing club and you are invited to join. The first lesson will takei place at Ruth Young's homo on Monday, Nov, 18, at 12:30 p.m. If you are interested please contact Ruth at 385-4578 or this reporter at 385-2645. They have four ladies who will help you lay out pattern and take you all the way in making things. Farewell Dinner Was held at the home of Helen Martin of Pistakee Heights for Mrs. Genny Mestin. Also attending the farewell dinner were Tena Bellino and Eunice Tobey. HoBda/ HII1« CUB SCOUTERS ADVANCE IN RANK AT PACK MEETING Inez Youa* pighty-six Cub Scouts, mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers gathered at the Lundelius home on Saturday, Nov. 2, for the Cub Scout Pack meeting. The Webelos Den conducted the opening flag ceremony Special guest for the evening was Scoutmaster Victor Justes, Sr. In a very impressive ceremony, during which Jack Connoll gave five boys the Cub Scout hand shake and took off their Cub Scout neckerchiefs and sent them across a bridge where Victor Justes greeted them with the Boy Scout handshake placed their Boy Scout neckerchief on them, officially accepting them into the Boy Scout troop. The boys, John Connell, Tom Janik, John Laskowski, Billy Schmidt and Billy Ritthaler, received their Webelos badge the only badge earned in Cub Scouts, that can be worn on a Boy Scout uniform. Webelos is an Indian word meaning 'we will be loyal scouts,. These boys met all thru the summer with den mother Marge Connell, learning their tenderfoot requirements for Boy Scouts. There followed another candlelite ceremony during which twelve boys were officially accepted into Cub Scout Pack 458 and presented their bobcat pins. The twelve boys were Ricky Audino, Gary Connell, Alan Estes, Billy Forthman, Jimmy Haufe, Edward Krysiak, Jimmy McWilliams Phillip Nottoli, Danny Ohlson, David Ritthaler, Gregory Smith and Joseph Zawistowski. Awards were presented to the following boys; Roy Lundelius, assistant denners stripe, Tom Burchfield, assistant denners stripe, Jeffery Kasprzyk, gold arrow, Mark Ritthaler, assistant denners stripe and silver arrow, and Frederick Jende, assistant denners stripe. The theme for the pack meeting was 'Sound'. Den No 2 under den mother Midge Teuber presented a skit on the telephone, Den No 3 under Shirley Haufer, Presented a skit on TV, and Den No. 4 under Carol Krysiak and Claire Raska, gave their version of the sounds coming from a 'hillbilly' band. The Webelos Den said a farewell to the pack, and refreshments were served by the mothers of Den No. 2. Twllite Bowl Don't forgot this Saturday is the date of the Twillte Bowl, sponsored by the Woman's Club, at the bowling alley in Wauconda. It should be a fun filled evening for all the gals and their husbands. Christmas Bazaars Another weekend reminder. This weekend both Island Lake churches wiH hold thsir annual Christmas Bazaars, with many lovely and interesting items for sale at both places. St. John's bazaar will start at 7 o'clock on Friday evening and continue until 10, and open again at 9 on Saturday morning. Along with the Christmas decorations and gift items, there will be a bake sale and coffee and...will be served. The Community Congregational church bazaar will open at 9:30 on Saturday, serving coffee and...for the shoppers and finishing that evening with a chuck wagon supper. More Honor Roll Students Checking the junior high honor roll last week, I find the following Holiday Hillers on the list: Steve and Helen Salter, Charles and Valarie Forthman, Candy and Penny Walters, Guy Filip, Pam Potratz and Joan Quilicc. These plus the two previously listed bring the total to eleven Holiday Hills young people in just sixth, seventh and eighth, grade. Nice going, kids!.!
