The maid of honor at the wedding fifty years ago was the bride's sister, Mabel Granger, who next year will celebrate her fiftieth anniversary as Mrs. George H. Johnson pf McHenry. Stone, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl R. Stone of 369 Eugenia street. Lombard, became the bride of Dr. A. Lee Haydary of David Lane, Crystal Lake Estates, Crystal Lake. Rev. Thompson Sampson officiated at the nuptial rite, which was solemnized at 5 o'clock in the afternoon. Five potted palms and two baskets of white mums decorated the church for the nuptial ceremony. Pretty Miss Stone was attired in a full length gown of pale ivory silk alpaca, fashioned with fitted bodice, long, tapered sleeves and bateau neckline. A wide contoured midriff was richly enhanced with alencon lace re-embroidered in pearls and drop crystals, as was the long, square train which was bordered in embroidered lace. A three-tier French illusion veil flowed from a rich toque headpiece of alencon lace embellished with pearls and a few drop crystals. She carried a colonial bouquet of pale ivory glamelias. Acting as maid of honor was her sister, Andrea Stone, of Lombard, and bridesmaids were Joan Anderson of New York City, a college friend, and Mrs Clifford Hunn of Crystal Lake. They were attired similarly in full length moss green velveteen sheath dresses with elbow length sleeves and bateau necklines. Matching shoes and ring-shaped hats with French veiling completed their ensemble. Each of the young ladies carried a cascade bouquet of mums ranging in color from pale gold and beige to deep bronze, .accented with sprays of natural wheat. The RAYMOND MARS HALLS A lovely wedding at St. Patride's Catholic church on Nov. 2 united in marriage Miss Elaine Leva to of Kent Acres and Mr. Raymond Marshall of the Wisconsin Dells. They are making their home in Chicago. Miss Darlene Schaefer and Mr. Donald R. Aeverman were married Saturday, Nov. 9, in a lovely autumn wedding solemnized at St. Mary's Catholic church. Miss Schaefer is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Schaefer of 120 E. Lincoln road, McHenry, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Aeverman of [)3 Victoria avenue, McHenry. Rev. Miss Schaefer approached the :ar, radiant in a gown fashicd of white bridal satin and orned with re-embroidered .jncon lace. Her fitted bodice was heavily accented with lace forming a scalloped neckline* long, tapered sleeves and flowing to a princess lined skirt, with medallions of the lace decorating the skirt and wide sweep of her chapel train. The back waistline was accented by two cabbage roses. A three-tiered bouffant veil of silk illusion was held in place by a pearl and crystal beaded crown. Her circular bouquet consisted of white mums and stephanotis, centered by bronze mums. Miss Dolores Klapperich of McHenry, cousin of the bride, acted as maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Mrs. Robert Manke of Woodstock and Mrs. Judy Schad of Crystal Lake, close friends. They were attired similarly in sapphire blue satin, street length dresses, with which they wore matching shoes, and open crown pillbox hats with circular veils to match. The circular bouquets were of white and bronze mums. Bill Brown of McHenry, cousin of the bride, served as best man and groomsmen were Robert Manke of Woodstock, a friend, and Ken Martin of McHenry, cousin of the bride. Mrs. Schaefer wore a cranberry satin brocade sheath with matching shoes and purse and white hat and gloves. Her corsage was a white orchid. Mrs. Aeverman was attired in a peacock blue crepe sheath with matching blue and gold accessories, with which she wore a white orchid corsage. Forty-four guests enjoyed breakfast at 1:30 at the V.F.W. hall, where 325 friends and relatives gathered for a reception at 6 o'clock in the evening. Following a wedding trip through the East and South the couple will make their home in Carpentersville. The bride and groom are both graduates of McHenry high school. She is employed by the Chicago Aerial Industries, Inc., in Barrington and he by Aeroquip Corporation in the same city. Rimer "Bunsie" Smlrts Oliwervo Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Klmer "Bussie" Smith of Spring Grove extend an invitation to all of their relatives and friends to attend an open house to celebrate their silver wedding anniversary. No definite date has been set for the weeding. Surprise Shower For Yvonne Matt A surprise pink and blue shower was given for Yvonne Matt of 2409 N. Villa Lane, McHenry, on Thursday evening, Nov. 7, at the home of Mrs. Donald Johnson. Mrs. Matt received many lovely and useful gifts from the thirty-six guests present. A special surprise of the evening was the unexpected arrival of her mother, Mrs. Berro A. Wifle of P'ond du Lac, Wis. Refreshments were served from a table gaily decorated with the "old bird" himself. Co-hostesses for the event were Mrs. Elmer Antonson and Mrs. Donald E. Johnson. Mrs. Stone selected for her daughter's wedding a deep beige street length gown of silk crepe, with bodice of alencon lace, and matching shoes, clutch bag and silk hat. A reception followed the ceremony at the Midwest Coun try club, Oakbrook, for 200 guests. Miss Stone, a graduate of Northern Illinois university, teaches home economics at the McHenry high school. Dr. Haydary received his medical degree from the University of Illinois, college of medicine, and completed his residency training at St. Luke's-Presby terian hospital, Chicago. At present he is practicing obstetrics and gynecology in McHenry, Woodstock and Crystal Lake. AVON PLAYERS The Avon Players are open ing their seventh season by presenting "The Bat," a mystery comedy, on Nov. 15 and 16. They are a community theatrical group that started as a Mother's club project of Avon Center school. They function now as a non-profit organization, donating funds, time and work to the building of the all-purpose room at Avon Center school. They have given $1,700 plus all lighting equipment, material for curtains, scenery and blackout curtains. REV. Jack will leave Germany Dec. 16 for the United States where he will receive his discharge from service. He will return to Germany next fall to claim his bride and they will live in this country. Jay Walkington of Ringwood, Cornell college senior, has helped to organize the Oxford society on the campus, and was recently elected co-chairman of this organization. The Oxford society is an interest group concerned with the discussion of contemporary religious questions and problems surrounding man's religious heritage. The society sponsors guest speakers and plans to include presentations by students and faculty. Mr. Walkington is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Walkington of Ringwood. ON SHOW COMMITTEE Sara Wood of Rt. 1, McHenry, is among seventy-four coeds of the University of Wisconsin who served on committees making preparations for the UW coeds' annual fashion of the year, held Nov. 12 in the Great Hall of Wisconsin's Memorial union. Sara was a member of the tickets and program committee for the event. Raye and Roman, reputed to have the most spectacular aero- adagio act in America -- plus Diane Merrill, a chanteuse and monologuist, will appear on the all-star cast with international c om e d i a n, Henny Youngman, when the McHenry Township Republican central committee organization presents its second entertainment event Saturday, Nov. 30, at the McHenry Country club. Many recall when "Countess Maria Pulaski" addressed a similar gathering two years ago and this event promises to be even better. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and the entertainment begins at 8:15 p.m. Henny Youngman, who was born in England, recently completed a successful tour of the continent and played the Palladium in London. He has also appeared on the Ed Sullivan show. Known as the "king of the one-liners," he is currently playing an engagement at the Tropicana in Las Vegas. Raye and Roman have appeared at leading entertainment spots in New York, Chicago, Miami Beach and San Juan, P.R. Seating arrangements are limited and no tickets will be available at the door.
