The next meeting will be held Monday, Nov. 25, at 8 p.m. in the headaches. The public is invited. For the ninth consecutive year, the local ladies' organization will hold its annual Thanksgiving party which has proven so successful in the past. It is an opportunity for residents to fraternize with their neighbors, and have fun doing so. All funds realized are used for worthy projects and the women hope to erect another shelter for the school kiddies at the east end of the village. The "turkey trot?" will be held at McDonald's Saturday night, Nov. 23. Amdtag the "delights" will be games for adults and delicious refreshments. The committee includes this reporter with assistance from Lois Parenti, Elma Nelson, Marie Howe, Bobbie Carroll, Marie McKim, Joanne Mai, Helen Scheid, Marge Olsen and others. Baskets loaded with "goodies" will also be offered and donations for these may be brought to McDonald's Saturday morning or afternoon. This is one of the very few fund raising events which the women sponsor and we anticipate a capacity crowd. Mark this date in red on your date calendar! Nuptials For Engaged Couple Late Summer Miss Sandra Norton and Anthony (Sonny) Hocin have tentatively set late summer of '64 for their wedding. Sandy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Norton, 8608 Memory Trail, Wonder Lake, while Sonny's parents- are Sally and Tony Hocin of Maple Drive. . The young people announced their intentions and sealed it with a ring in Oct. of 1962. Her lovely diamond was a birthday gift for Sandy. Sonny entered the service of Uncle Sam in May, 1960 and the two met on a Friday while he was home on leave. They reached an "understanding" the following day and did not see one another for 18 months! Sally and Tony's eldest son was discharged from the Navy on Oct. 23 and has been employed in this area since that time. The statuesque and lovely future bride is employed by a concern in Spring Grove. We offer them our heartiest best wishes. implore our readers to submit copy for same. He apparently succumbed to a heart attack. All local residents will remember his appearance here in the village with his charming wife Helen when A1 served as a judge for our buggy promenade on Aug. 3. Petition Presented To Village Board A petition with forty-four signatures was presented to the road commissioner and the village board at the last meeting, Monday, Nov. 11, by one of our residents, protesting a road change which has been under consideration but no action taken. The presenting par-c ty was assured by president J. R. Levesque that no changes will be made without full publication and opportunities for residents to be heard, prior to any action taken by the board.r The snow plowing contract was read, approved unanimously by the trustees, and signed by the president. A recommendation from the police department was submitted by police commissioner Art Nelson that officer Earl Nelson be promoted to sergeant. He would serve as second in command to chief of police Jack Schlofner. The village signs which have been taken down for repairs and repainting are scheduled to Back To School On Crutches! With a great deal of courage and fortitude, Steve Lundy returned to school for half a day on Monday, on his crutches. He fell while running for the school bus on Nov. 7 and fractured his ankle and left leg bone. His cast reached to his hip, and he was suffering a great deal of pain, but this deterred him not at all. Steve has been a faithful news carrier for years and his service was excellent. One think which consoled the handsome lad while he was "confined to quarters" was the opportunity to play with baby Sheryl Ann who was born July 6. All of the Lundy youngsters have names beginning with S including, Susan, Sandy, Shelby, and Scott. Mother Joan says the baby's middle name is stop! Ailing Residents Unhappy we are to report that Frank Parkhurst is still confined to Lake Forest hospital and we miss his happy grin. Marie Howe underwent oral surgery some time ago and she is still feeling a bit "under the weather." Carrie Kurth "wrestled" a severe bout of flu recently and will probably face a long recovery. She required the services of a doctor. "Tiny" Tim Hocin was a sick little fella Satuxday night but loving ministrations from his mom Sally and his future aunt Sandy Norton quickly put him back in shape. So sorry to relate that" Steve Huska is once again confined to McHenry hospital after apparently being back on the road to recovery. His ever lovin' Theresa looked so attractive in a dressy black frock on Sunday. She had just been to see Steve at the hospital. Gene Shigley's father has been recuperating in the village following surgery some time ago. We have no doubt that Mayda is an excellent nurse. She gained a great deal of experience caring for her incapacitated mother. and Bill Scheid. The next team included Charley Brennan (who brought up the rear, score wise, according to Fred Matthesius). Len and Chuck Ackerman, Merv Huff and Ralph Kick. Last team was Don Lorcli, Merv Schmitt, Ken Ingersol, Ray Blake and Dick Kleinhousen. Following the games at a local alley, the crowd reassembled at McDonald's including McDade's Chicago boys and their wives, for a pre-Thanksgiving soiree. Jean served hot beef, baked ham, two varieties of potato salad, molded salads, baked beans, pickles, cheese, crackers, and almost every other variety of "good eating." These events have been taking place for at least 15 years. The couple exchanged vows on April 30, 1960 and Irene and Leo have waited a long time for this happy occasion. Irene was due to hold her grandchild for the first time yesterday. This makes the eighth grandchild for the local couple with four being boys and. four girls. Nice and even. Watch "mother nature" take care of that!.
