Among topics for discussion was the children's Christmas party. The Johnsburg grade school has been reserved for Saturday morning, Dec. 14. The party will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 11 a.m. The committee under the chairmanship of Jean Fedorchak will contact all parents after Thanksgiving as to the exact details. Donations of home baked Christmas cookies will be appreciated. I have received word direct from Santa Claus himself that he will be there about 10 a.m. Parents are invited to stay, enjoy the children's pleasures and Join in a cup of coffce. The auxiliary has taken up collecting coupons as a project. These coupons will be used for future moneymaking affairs held by the women of the Terrace. Anyone wishing to contribute their coupons please get them to Mary Mecko, 1301 Circle Drive. The Christmas card committee is getting ready to finish up on card orders. Time is getting short so please contact Pat Ferrell, Chairman, as soon as possible. The next meeting of the auxiliary will be held the third Wednesday instead of our usual second Wednesday at the home of Birdlie Deppmeier. Majrk your calendar, girls, for Dec. 18. It is always an enjoyable meeting since it is the one month the girls take to splurge on themselves with a dollar grab bag along with fancy refreshments and punch. About the only other business for discusision at this time was plans for the subdivision roads next spring. The roaJs were graded and gravel placed on the two roads that were in the most desperate need at this time. After the spring thaw more extensive work will be done. Consideration is also being given to re-coating May Avenue next summer as was advised by the contractor at the time of the first surfacing. All members of the subdivision have received the payment record and budget report mailed earlier this month. M^ny have responded with their dues for which the executive council is very appreciative. Have you sent yours? Why not take care of it before the holiday season? Honor Roll The students of the Johnsburg grade school received their report cards last week and with this follows the1 announcement of the honor roll. The top five of the seventh as well as the eighth grade receive honor pins to wear until the next report card time, nine weeks from now at which time they must pass it on unless they have maintained the high grades. At the end of the year those with the top live averages get to keep the pins. Kathy Parker placed third on the eighth grade honor roll and Jim Vyduna was fifth on the seyenth grade report. Elm St., McHenry, Ol Toeppers Enjoy Vacation Len took the second week cf his vacation the first week of November and this time yours truly decided she needed one too which is the reason for no column last week. Although we had no special plans the week was filled without any trouble. Len enjoyed a day at the races on Monday and we left the boys with Grandmother Nelson on Tuesday while we went to a movie down in the loop and dinner out. On Wednesday evening we were guests at my parents, the G. J. Nelsons, for dinner and on Thursday the boys were treated with a trip to the airport. While dining in Fox Lake on Thursday evening we were surprised with the entrance of my brother, Glenn Nelson, and family from Madison, Wis. They had driven down on the chance of our being home, taken a motel in Fox Lake and just happened to come to the same restaurant as we had. Needless to say we had an enjoyable evening since they came back to the house when we all finished eating. On Friday following breakfast here we took them on an ex- DK. JOHN T. Following supper at home they returned to Madison. Terrace Tidings Annette Kurow*ki entertained nine of her girl friends at a pajama party on Friday evening. Among the girls who chitchatted all night were. Judy Strogail, Diane Jenkins, Nancy Sompel, Betty Himpleman, Mary Ellen Freund, Coleen Joyce, Barb Michaels, Diane Hiller and Mary Anderson. Enjiying a pre-holiday celebration at the Bob Kettner home recently were Bob's parents, the Henry Kettners, Crystal Lake, who will be in Florida at Christmas time so got an early start on the festivities. Frank Jakucibek completed a week's police refresher course on Nov. 8 for State Troopers down in Springfield. James and Julia Bush spent the weekend at the University of Illinois where their daughter, Janice, is a freshman. In honor of Dad's Day they attended the Michigan - Illinois football game (which Illinois had the misfortune to lose). Karen Bush joined the family there from her studies at Bloomington. Harry and Grace Gavin and family dined out on Sunday in celebration of Harry and Grace's wedding anniversary. Sunday visitors at the Jakucibek home were their godchildren, Robert, Jr., and Kenneth Kovack accompanied oi course by Robert and Joan Kovack of Merrlonette Park, 111. Joan and Dick Stull attended the Chicago Bears - Los Angeles Rams football game in Chicago on Sunday. Bears won 6 to 0. The Kurowskl family attended the first communion of Clara's grand nephew, Edward Caraher, Jr., of Lake Villa, recently. Visiting at the Tom Merhaut home on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Louis Merhaut and Harry Olsen of Oaklawn. Spending the weekend with Cindy and Bob Kettner were Cindy's parents, Frank and Mary Gute, and her sister, Jane, and John Wench and daughter, Christine, all of Carroll, Iowa. Birthday Celebrations On Saturday afternoon, Nov. 2, Linda Kettner entertained ten of her little playmates as she celebrated her sixth birthday. Playing games and enjoying the usual party fare of ice cream and cake were: Nancy and Mike Gavin, Cindy and Jimmy Kilby, Theresa Kurowski, Lori Parker, Darrell and Audrey Seliga and Joy and Judy Vyduna. Also celebrating his sixth birthday this month was Jimmy Kaiser on Nov. 11. In honor of this special day four of his friends came to his home aftei school for a party. These four included Buddy Pflug, Keith Eastwood Manor TEEN CLUB PLANS HAYRIDE. DANCE ON NOVEMBER 23 Laverne Saynor 385-5429 The teen club is having a hayride and dance on Nov. 23. They will meet at the barn in EastwoochJVlanor at f p.m. on Nov. 23. There will be a ranch style supper, pop, and dancing besides the hayride. Any teenager in Eastwood Manor who is interested contact a member of the teen club for tickets. The project for this month for the teens is a Thanksgiving dinner for a needy family. Each club member is donating canned goods and a turkey will be bought from the teen club treasury. The next meeting will be Nov. 25. Plans for a Christmas party will be discussed. Around The Manor Saturday evening, attending the Veterans Day potluck dinner dance at the American Legion Home were the Tim Mc- Cormacks, Tom Birminghams, Warren Krebs, Dick Fenners, Frances Picketts, Gil Congdons, Moyse Carys, Gil Moores, Fred Woodburys, Paul Dethlefsons, Mel Stephensons, Glen Messers. A1 Bianchi, and of course the Hugh Saynors. You can see Mierzwa, Davey Williams and Charles Kocher. Birthday Greetings Belated Birthday wishes to Carrie Jourdan who celebrated her birthday on Nov. 18, and Scotty Stull who was nine years old on Nov. 19. Anniversary Wishes Belated anniversary congratulations to Jim and Birdie Deppmeier as they started their eighth year of marriage on Nov. 15, and to A1 and Carrie Jourdan who observe Nov. 19 as their wedding date. The Fedorchak family has had a bout with the flu and Dawn Hawkins has missed two weeks of her kindergarten due to illness. Just a reminder With regard to the 'Wizard of Oz' benefit show for the' McHenry Gjrl Scouts this weekend. Among the performers will be our own Cindy Stull, Carolyn Miezwa, Pain Perewee and April Pritchard as the Munchkins, the little people that live in the land of Oz. Mel Stephenson and I came to the conclusion that we not only were both ex-Provisoites, but also from the same class. It really is a small world after all. On Sunday we went into Elmhurst to help my mother, Mrs. Rick, celebrate her birthday. The boat club in which Walt and Eleanor Kuck are members held a Bowlerama in Ingleside on Saturday night. After bowling they went back to their boat club meeting place where a buffet supper was served. They later went to the home of Tom and Betty Schweiss to help Tom celebrate his birthday. Birthday cake and coffee was served. Faith Presbyterian Church Thursday, Nov. 21, 8 p.m. -- Senior choir rehearsal. Friday, Nov. 22, 3:30 p.m. -- Junior choir rehearsal. Saturday, Nov. 23, 10 a.m. -- Confirmation class. Sunday, Nov. 24, -- Gifts to the church will be dedicated in memory of Ellen Duncan and Garret Boar. Cub Scouts Pack 162 -- Dens 1 and Den 3. These boys have really been busy betting to see all the things of interest. Last week they toured the telephone company in Woodstock. They got to see how the cables came into the building from under the ground, how McHenry's telephone system works, and how to dial for long distance. Some of the boys even got to plug into a board that was not in use so that they could see how calls are completed. They „ were also shown how information calls are completed. Den 1 -- Den mother, Louise Griffeth. This week the boys made a trip to the Plaindealer office. They made a complete tour of the paper starting with the front office. They were shown how the paper was printed, cut and folded and how it was addressed for mailing. They also were shown how the type was melted down and made ready for future use. With all the tours these youngsters are taking, they will certainly be well informed little boys. The interest shown by these den mothers are making these trips possible for the boys. The pack meeting will be on Nov. 21 at 7:15 p.m. at the American Legion home. At this meeting, Steve Simpson will be receiving his Lion Badge, and one gold arrow and Scott Fuller will receive his assistant denner's badge. Birthdays Many happy returns of the day to four year old Sheila Barry and to Sue Betke who became 15 on Nov. 15. To Mike Stuart who was 13 and Tommy Mersch who was 4 on Nov. 16. Best wishes to Rev.
