Services were held in our churches for the repose of the soul of our beloved President DCCW fleets Sixty ladies wete present at the McHenry Deanery Council of Catholic Women meeting held at St. Mary's McHenry, on Nov. 20. Chairmen of committees gave their reports of the year and asked for the same cooperation in the coming year. Rev. Eugene Baumhofer, Moderator for the deanery, gave a short talk and then introduced the guest speaker, Rev. Timothy Kelly, SJ. His talk based on the old testament of the Bible was both interesting and inspiring. Members of the Christian Mothers Sodality served cake and coffee following the meeting. Pigi Nin| -- *7 committee after the meeting. Deceased Rose Koptik passed away at her home on Sunday, Nov. 17. She had been a resident here for about twenty years and lived alone most of the time in a little house east of town. Her brother, Joseph, was with her at the time of her death. Interment was in Chicago. Leaves Rest Home Miss Rose Gerbracht has returned from the Genoa Rest Home where she spent the past month. Silver Wedding Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Elmer "Bussy" Smith on their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary which they celebrated on Nov. 23. The day began with a mass at St. Peter's Church at 8 a.m. A reception was held at seven in the evening in Memorial hall, Richmond. Many relatives and friends came from neighboring towns to wish the happy couple continued happiness. Anniversary Congratulations, too, to Mr. and Mrs. Peter May on their fifty-third wedding anniversary. A mass honoring this occasion was read for them on Sunday. Meetings Father Lehman and the ushers of St. Peter's met at the home of Jack Schmitt on Wednesday for their regular meeting. The Thanksgiving party was discussed and there was an evening at cards. Lunch was served. 1 Members of the Christian Mothers sodality met at St. Jeter's parish hall on Thursday night. There was a report on the McHenrv Deanery meeting and on the success of the Halloween party. Eva Freund, Chairman of this event thanked all members of the committee for their support. It was announced that the Christmas party would be on Thursday evening, Dec. 19 at 7. There will be a pot-luck dinner and a dollar gift exchange. Chairmen are Betty Murphy and Agnes May. All ladies of the parish are asked to contribute any old jewelry, old gold and old spectacles. These articles will be sent to the mission. Collection of these items will be made at the Christmas party. Mrs. Betty Murphy explained the procedure of the Junior College for McHenry County and told us that there would be a referendum on Dec. 14. Mrs. Catherine Kagan explained the Advent wreath and had one on display. Nov. 27, 1963) LCWC The Lotus Country Women's Club met at the home of Mrs. Gordon Sergant on Nov. 7. Luncheon was served at one. There was a business meeting ano the club voted to send contributions to the Christmas fund of the Park Ridge school for girls and to the UNICEF program. This is a fund established by the UN in 1946 to hr»lp needy children all over the world. Members also voted to join the McHenry County Historical Society at Woodstock. Members personally contributed to the general federation project to establish a museum at the base of the statue of Liberty. As an aid to finances a silent auction was held. Those members who attended a luncheon at Pistakee Highlands on Nov. 14 were Frances Heinemann, Susie Rudolph, Viola McNish, Beulah Karls, Marge Sergant and Frances Shotliff. Flag Pole Dedication The flag pole donated and erected on St. Peter's parish grounds by the American Legion of Fox Lake and this region was dedicated on Sunday afternoon. A flag raising ceremony was presented by the American Legion color guard surrounded by Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts Bro\Vnies and school children of SO Peter's. Father Lehman gave the flag blessing and thanked we American Legion. He sp^ke of the sadness in this beautiful ceremony thai the flag would fly at half mas honoring the death of President Kennedy. It will be a day long remembered. MILK PRICES The base price paid producers for October deliveries of milk to the Chicago market will be $3.65 per cwt. with a 2-cent superpool payment included, Harry L. Edwards, director of marketing for Pure milk association, has announced. Continuing an upward trend due to increased sales cf Class I milk, a minimum uniform or blended price of $3.63 per cwt. will be paid for October; deliveries of excess milk.
