|Riowd«y, December 5, 1963 THE McHENRT PLAINDEALEH Pig* NlnetMB iunnyslda Estate! Lrea Saddened ty Many Deaths lOUl WHayam 585-S105 There is so much sadness in the world today it seems. The tragedy of the past, weekend deemed more than the heart Vould bear. Then it was even H'orse by the news of other deaths closer to home. Our sincere sympathies to Sister M. Albertine (the house lister at St. John's Convent) 5n the death of her mother, Irs. Helen King. Our former association president, Jerry Olson, lost his father on Sunday, Nov. 24. Ernfred «lsen suffered a broken hip in ovember of last year and has divided his time between the hospital and Fran and Jerry's ome out here. Although he ad been quite ill for almost a ear, the shock was still there when it actually happened. He leaves his wife, Anna; a daughter, Susan, still at home; and ftis son, Jerry, and family. He passed away in Alexian Brothers hospital on Sunday and was buried in St. Joseph's cemetery in Chicago on Wednesday. Our condolences to the entire family on the loss of their husband and father. This morning (Friday) I just learned that my graduating teacher (Sister M. Hermenegild) passed awav this week in Campbellsport, Wis. Although she was in her seventies it is with a very heavy heart that I write of her death. The year spent in her class has left me with memories of learning and happiness enough to lart a lifetime. I do believe that I can honestly say she was the most remarkable person I ever knew ©r can ever hope to know. May she find eternal happiness in return for all she gave here on earth. Thanksgiving Doings Being as how this column must be written in advance this is just the first day after thanksgiving and I, therefore, not have too much holiday tiews. Just those that I happened to already know about. The C. Davis Family went Into Chicago to spend the day With Red's folks and they talked by phone with Mary's folks in Moline. The Tom Hanahan family also spent the day in the city to celebrate their Thanksgiving. Mill and George Kropf entertained both their mothers and other family and friends including: Mae Becvar, Tillie Kropf, Vi. Crane, Ken Crane, Florence and Will Panter, Linda Janicki, and their own sons, George and Ray. Loretta and Bob Mikkelsen and sons, Mick and Rick, had dinner at home and then drove to Libertyville for the rest of the day, to visit with close friends, Joan and Eddie Rasmussen, and two sons, Rick and Mark. And the Walczynski family stayed home. We had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and then later in the day took Judy's birthday cake down to jny folks (Laura and A1 Holtfodt of Dennis Boulevard) and had a very small birthday party there. Judy and I spent Saturday shopping together and Daddy was stuck taking the other children with him. He went into Chicago to visit with his mother and sister and family, plus run a few errands in the city. Happy Occasions Birthday greetings go this week to the following: On Dec. 6 to David Senkerik who will be sixteen years old. Well, here we are into the month of December already. I'll only be writing about three more columns and then I shall "retire" as a columnist. If anyone of you think you might be interested in taking over the column T would appreciate hearing from you now, so that we can pass the word along to all concerned. Don't hesitate to give it a try if you think you'd care to. It would surely be a shame to have it dropped from the paper. Hoping to receive calls with your news and! also with offers from a columnist, I'll sign off. 'Bye now! On Tuesday, Nov. 26, I flew by jet (my first jet ride) to St. Paul, Minn., with my better half, who had to be there on business. We drove home on Wednesday, Nov. 27, and on Thanksgiving Day, our whole family drove to South Bend, to my sister's home where we celebrated not only Thanksgiving, but my Dad's birthday on Nov. 28 and my Mom's birthday on Nov. 30. I'm back to my old routine again, but thoroughly enjoyed my impromptu vacation, made possible by Vi Abbink who looked after my girls, while I took off with Clare. IT8E THE CLASSIFIEDS C. A.
