INSTALL NEW OFFICERS OF OES CHAPTER Josephine Swanson Takes Office As Worthy Matron An impressive installation ceremony for new officers of McHenry chapter number 542, Order of the Eastern Star, was held last Saturday evening, Nov. 30, at 8 o'clock at Acacia hall. Installed as worthy matron was Josephine Swanson; worthy patron, Dwane Overton; associate matron, Phyllis Koehler; associate patron, Theodore Guy; secretary, Edith Dowell; conductress, Grayce Swanson; chaplain, Elsie Reiker; marshal, Stella Chambers; organist, Phyllis Nimtz; Adah, Frances Vycital; Ruth, Louise Horenberger; Esther, Anita Hansen; Martha, Joan Brosky; Electa, Lillian Cox; Sentinel, Harry R. Hansen; color bearers, Clifford Chambers; instructress, Harriett Dodd. At our next meeting treasurer, Margaret Klingberg; associate conductress, Angeline Sass; warder, Genevieve Heyward, will be installed. Installing Officers Installing officers for the evening were Harriett Dodd, a grand Lecturer of Illinois and a member of the examining committee, installing officer; Elsie Reiker, a past matron of McHenry Chapter and a member a* the educational aid committee, installing chaplain; Lillian Clow, a past matron of Nunda Chapter and a member of the endownment trust fund committee, installing marshal; Helen Creamer, a member of McHenry Chapter, installing organist; Clarissa Mellen, a member of Milburn Chapter^ soloist. Escorts for the evening were Roy Dodd, Sr., Ray Horenberger and George Krickl, all pact patrons of McHenry chapter. The color bearer was John Behrendt, a member of McHenry chapter. An ode to the flag was given by Donald Stinespring and his sister, Libby. OBITUARY JOSEPH HIRT Joseph G. Hirt, 53, of 3104 S. Riverdale road, Burton's Bridge, died last Friday evening, Nov. 29, in St. Therese hospital. He had resided in that area for the past twenty years. Mr. Hirt was an employee of Haeger Potteries, Inc., Dundee. He is survived by his widow, Ann; a daughter, Barbara Zimmerman of Crystal Lake; his mother and several brothers and sisters. The body rested at the Querhammer funeral home in Crystal Lake, where services were held Tuesday. PLEDGES FRATERNITY Robert Wahl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wahl of 1902 N. Orchard Beach, McHenry, has pledged Beta Pi Epsilon at Carroll college, Waukesha, Wis. The master of ceremonies was Harry R. Hansen, past patron of McHenry chapter. Lynda Swanson and Karen Bailey acted as candle-lighters. Honorary escorts were members of Woodstock Assembly No. 63, Order of the Rainbow for Girls and the Emanual Chapter Order of DeMolay. Presents Jewel Anita Hansen, past matron of McHenry chapter, presented the jewel to our new junior past worthy matron, Stella Chambers. Harry Hansen presented the jewel to the new junior past patron, Clifford Chambers. Worthy matron, Josephine Swanson, was escorted to sign the Bible by her husband, Carl Swanson, a member of McHenry chapter. Anita Hansen escorted the worthy patron, Dwane Overton, to sign the Bible. The beautiful table decorations were made by Martha Neuharth, a member of McHenry chapter. Delicious refreshments were served by the refreshment committee ill the dining room. The next stated meeting of McHenry chapter 547 Order of the Eastern Star will be held Dec. 10 at the Masonic Temple 1309 N. Court street. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Prine and son, Dickie, were dinner quests in the Albert Rychtarik home in Downers Grove, Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. John Leighty end daughters were Thanksgiving guests in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Stattner, in Pana, who returned home with them to spent a few days. Joan Adams returned to her studies at Loyola university in Chicago Monday after spending Thanksgiving and the weekend with her1 parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfons Adaftis. Mr. and Mhs^atrick Moriarity were over Thanksgiving visitors in the home of their son, Patrick Moriarity, Jr., and family in Calumet City. Mrs. Kathryn Worts ate turkey in the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Guge in Elgin Thanksgiving day. Mrs. Agnes Wissell accompanied by her brother, Leon1 Matthews, wife and daughter, Sara Jo, of Lake Geneva, Wis., &pent a few days last week in the home of the former's son, Charles Wissell, and family in Loyal, Wis. Mrs. Alice Brooks spent several days in Chicago where she attended the wake and funeral of her sister, Mrs. Grace Hunter. Mrs. Hunter died unexpectedly in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Nov. 29. Survivors other than Mrs. Brooks include her husband, Edward, of Fort Lauderdale, two other sisters and a brother, all of Chicago. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning. Dinner guests in the Lisle Bassett home Thanksgiving were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vogel of Glenview, daughter, Mrs. Charles Calloway, of Milwaukee and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Bassett and daughter, Lisa. The latter three remained for a weekend visit. Mr. and Mrs. William Wenks, Sr., of San Jose, Calif., were Sunday guests in the home of Mrs. Alvera Durland. Richard Wissell has been released from service at Ft. Leavenworth, Kans., and with his wife and daughter, Melissa, has returned to this vicinity to make his home. Mrs. Kate Steilen and Mrs. Annabel Aicher, George and Leo Heimer spent Saturday with the former's son, Charles Steilen, and family at their new home in Hinsdale. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O'- Leary recently moved from Emerald Park to their new home at 3718 West Ellen avenue. The house was built by Frank O'Leary for his son and daughter-in-law, the former Ginny Gray. Fifty-three members of the A. P. Freund family from Madison, Wis., Waukegan, Crystal Lake and McHenry enjoyed their sixteenth annual Thanksgiving reunion at the home of Mrs. A. P. Freund Thursday. Rev. Clarence Thennes of Stockton and Mr. and Mrs. John Thennes were Thanksgiving dinner guests in the Frank Gende home. Mr, and Mrs. Richard Heuser, Patty and Susan, of Chicago visited his mother, Mrs. Helen Heuser, Sunday. Mrs. Walter Walsh spent Thursday with Elgin relatives. Her brother, Edward Dwyer of Chicago, returned home with her for a weekend visit. Mr. and Mrs. William Martin of Sterling were visitors in the home of Rita Martin a few days last week. On Thursday they were all dinner guests in the Richard Smith home in Waukegan. Valerie Brefeld returned to Omaha, Nebr., Sunday to resume her studies at the Personal Training Institute after a few days vacation spent with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Brefeld. On Thursday the Brefeld family were dinner guests in the Walter Brefeld home in Libertyville. Muriel Frett was home from her studies at Northern Illinois university, DeKalb, to spend the Thanksgiving vacation in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Frett. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Douglas and children and Mrs. Velma Douglas spent a couple of days last week with relatives in Dodgeville, Wis. This white satin dress with side drape of embroidered silk mull has a short train with lace dust ruffle stiffened with buckram. All hand sewn,v the two-piece costume is a beautiful example of the dressmaker's art. The waist is «ix)Ut eighteen inches. The oUtfit includes white sill' stockings, white kid slipperornamented with soed pear? with low French heels. An artificial spray of orange blossoms held the white silk tulk veil in place.
