Page Twenty fHE McHENRT PLAINDEALER Thursday, December 19, 1903 Sunnyslde Estates SC'OUT GROUPS TO SING CAROLS AT HOSPITAL WMczynna 185-flOft Christmas Is just a little way off now and what with the 'beautiful snowfall to complete the picture, I'm sure everyone is really getting into the mood of things. This includes the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts, lis well. Cub scout Dens one and five are planning on caroling In McHenry hospital on Friday eveniing, Dec. 20. Also on that same evenj^ni? Girl Scout Troops 41 and '295 will be caroling throughout the downtown McHenry shopping district. Then on Saturday, Dec. 21, the Girrl Scouts of Troop 295 will be caroling in McHenry hospital and, if all goes well, will be wearing the red capes similar to those depicted on the month of December picture of the 1964 Girl Scout calendar. Oh, yes, not to be left out, the eighth grade students of St. John's school will be caroling at two nursing homes, as well as McHenry hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 18, in the evening. Giving a thought to those les« fortunate seems to be the aim of our younger generation, I'm mighty proud to say. Who's worried about the future with this grand group of youngsters growing "Up to run things? I'm not! Disappointed Cube Yes, many a Cub Scout and his family were disappointed that their annual Christmas party had to be postponed at the last minute, but it was very necessary what with the snowfall we were having. You should have seen little Stan. He had just put on his brand new Cub Scout uniform and' the rest of us weren't getting ready fast enough for him. Then the phone rang. His fuce dropped a good six inches; but then I told hi, that it wasn't actually cancelled; just postponed. That helped. As of now, no date has been set for the party, but it will be held sometime this month. Christmas Trees If you haven's already purchased yours, the Juvenile Boy Foresters are s1 ill selling fresh Christmas trees on the back of the William (Bill) May residence, 2207 West Johnsburg Ttoad. They have a very nice selection, so why not drop in and view them foi^yourself and perhaps make s^Tur [turchase there to the benefit of a good cause. Girl Foresters Party The Juvenile Girl Foresters were a little more fortunate in the date of their party. It was held at the Community Club on Sunday, Dec. 8. Everyone had a real good time, as those gals always do. How About Yon? How's the Christmas shopping and card addressing coming. Oh, I've got all the cards addressed, but I'm waiting to add the news of the baby before I mail mine. All our cards will probably be mailed AFTER Christmas. My shopping isn't done, oither; but then this is really par for the course for me. I have accomplished something thought, all the things are ready for our long awaited baby. So you see, I haven't been actually wasting my time. An In One Stan's sister and family, Aida and Stan Zmudzki, and their children; Sue, Peg and Bob, came out to spend the day with us last Sunday, Dec. 8. Seems as though we don't get together very often, but when we do we accomplish a lot. All the recent birthdays in our family were celebrated, with each of us receiving a lovely gift from the Zmudzki family. They arc in the process of moving into a new home, which isn't quite finished yet, so you can see how hard it would be for us to get together. Our little Paul Joseph was two years old yesterday (Dec. 12) and he had himself quite a day, just getting his every whim and wham catered to. Ten Full Day« Ten full days of fun and wonderful experiences is the only description fitting the recent trip made by Lorraine and Steve Major and their daughter, Janice. They left O'Hare Airport by jet on Nov. 23 and returned the same way on Dec. 2. The time in between was spent enjoying themselves to the utmost. Some of ihe main points of interest they visited were Fisherman's Wharf; Balcutha, a preserved pirate ship; Chinatown, which has the largest Chinese population outside of China itself; Seal rock; Sutro Museum, where the belongings of Tom Thomb and his wife are kept; riding on the cable cars; driving across the Golden Gate bridge; also the Oakland Bay Bridge; Stanford University in Palo Alto, where the Memorial church is truly a thing of beauty done in Mosaic Tile; the seventeen mile scenic drive to Carmel and Monterey to Visit Pebble Beach and it was simply out of this world in beauty; another seal rock, as well as bird rock; the Redwood Forest State Park, where one tree holds'enough lumber to build forty 5-room homes; the Nature Lodge to view the pastto- present means of procuring the lumber, etc. Thanksgiving Day, the Majors spent, at Steve's sister's home, Vera and Walter Trumpp of Sunnyvale. Guests included the three Trumpp children Wally, Armand and Alicia and their families. Then Nov. 30 was Lorraine and Steve's twenty-third wedding anniversary and Steve's nephew, Wally, hosted a dinner party in their honor. All this plus two wonderful We're sending you ^ our very best at Christmas! 4T* ft •: MARIE'S SPECIALTY SHOP OTTO HEINZ FURS 1S0S Riverside Drive Ckftidtouw w m entire bamiCy begm al I RvguMy $12.95 fcoulMbr < u at HlgMandf I HAND MIXER I 3 heavy duty hand ml**r with powerful 100 I waft motor.
