Thursday. Her husband, Howard, returned from thirteen mrnlhs of duty in Germany on Monday, Dec. 116. Rosemary and Howie had only two months together before he went overseas and last Christmas (which was their first as man and wife) had. to be spent separated by an ocean. But this year he^hom£! Isn't it wonderful! To top it ^ff Rosemary's folks (Rose andNTom) are just as happy because their son, Louie, who went into service in November is also home for two weeks to spend the holidays. What more could anyone ask for at such a happy time of the year. December Birthday Having a birthday close to Christmas isn't always the best time of the year for one, but when you haw folks like Marge and Louie DeFrancisco, it doesn't make any difference. Because as Pammie can tell you, they see to it that you have a nice birthday party regardless. Pam was six years old on Saturday, Dec. 14, and she had a party with the following young guests: Kathy Davis, Monica Davis, Mike Brotherton, Karen Kennebeck, Gail McDonald, LuAnn Muleski (who used to live in the village, but now lives in Woodstock), Robin Radtke, Ernie VonOepen and Billy Walczynski. The older guests included Busia from next door; Grandma and Grandpa Schondorf; Rose Tillich; and naturally Mom and Dad were there. The children all had a real good time playing all kinds of fiin-games and then having more than their fill of food from the choice of hot dogs, potato chips, beverage, cake and ice cream, plus candy and favors to top it off. Pam received many lovely gifts and Mom and Dad bought her a new canary, which because he is orange in color Pam has named "Pumpkin." (If you'll remember her last canary died and she had a funeral for him). Sounds like there isn't much more a little girl could want than what Pam had for her birthday. Christmas Parties My hubby, Stan, took our five children into Chicago for the Christmas party sponsored by his employer. On the way they stopped at St. Adalbert's cemetery to visit my father-inlaw's grave and to place a wreath thereon for his birthday (which was Christmas Day). The children all had a good time at the party where they saw Sergeant Pettibone and Tracer and naturally "Ho- Ho" was there (That's what our Paul calls Santa Claus). They came away with quite a loot. On the way home they stopped in at Stan's mother's and had a nice visit with Busia and the Zmudzki family. I spent the day decorating the inside of the house with Christmas treasures and then baked some cookies, etc. I just sat down and read the first page of the Sunday paper when my family returned home. Fastest day of peace and quite I ever spent. Pack Party • Cub Scout pack 452 held its annual Christmas party at the community barn in the Highlands on Tuesday, Dec. 17. (If you'll; recall it was postponed last week due to the heavy snowfall on Wednesday.) There for awhile it looked like it -might be postponed again; but they decided there just wasn't enough time left before Christmas, so it was held on Dec. 17. Unfortunately, all the Dens weren't able to make it but those that did had' a real nice time. Awards were given out and then the boys hung the 'hand-made ornaments. Pack master, Mr. Zenner, was presented with a gift for his birthday, and Christmas carols were sung by all. Some Christmas movies were shown and refreshments enjoyed in abundance. Oh, yes,! Ho-Ho was there, too, with a box of candy for each and every boy and girl attending. Lovely Time Four of us from the subdivision had the pleasure of attending the adult Girl Scout Christmas luncheon on Wednesday, Dec. 18. Alice Bieschke, Millie Kropf, Betty Lakowske and myself spent a truly lovely afternoon. The details of the entire luncheon can bo found in the Girl Scout column lor this^month. Sounds of Christmas St. John's eighth grade students carried out their plans for caroling at the local hospital and nursing homes on Wednesday evening, Dec. IS. I hope the patients enjoyed the singing as much as the children enjoyed doing it. Boy Foresters Not to be outdone by the girls, the juvenile boy Foresters held their annual Christmas party at the Community Club cn Wednesday, Dec. 18. All who attended had a real ball. but who knows!) On Christmas Day Sol Kobus and Dale Kuntz celebrated their birthdays along with The Prince of Peace. On Dec. 27, Mary Mann celebrates her birthday. And on Dec. 30, P. J. Schneider celebrates his birthday. Happy birthday to each and everyone of you aad many more to follow. School's Out The holidays are truly here when school lets out and all the children are home for the holidays and underfoot something awful. The anxiety of Chfistmas coming is almost too much for them to bear and the tension mounts and mounts; father is tired of Christmas shopping, what with all the cold weather; and mother is slowly, but surely, going nuts! All the ioys of parenthood! Girl Scouts Thursday. Dec. 19 Troop 295 held their last meeting until after the holidays. They spent the evening practicing their caroling and fitting the caroling capes which their committee woman, Mrs. Marge Barth, so generously made, foregoing some of her own chores to accomplish, I'm sure. Following the visit to the hospital they returned to our home for our troop Christmas party with an exchange of gifts and lots of fun, we hope! Den 5 - Cub Scouts Den five had their Christmas party at the home of their Den Mother, Mrs. Waugh, on Friday, followed by the joint caroling session with Den 1 (Den Mother, Mrs. Catherine Fredrick) at McHenry hospital. Happy Occasions Last week when I wrote the column I wasn't quite sure if the paper was going to press early or net po I included the birthdays of the 24th. So those lucky people will be mentioned again. Birthday greetings for this week are as follows: Dec. 24, Christmas Eve, /Helen Burnhoefer celebrateck, her birthday (and our baby is ah<? to arrive J{JL Just want to wish a happy New Year to our friends and their families. We certainly have had it, breaking records and all. I personally like winter better than summer but this is going to extremes. Signing Off! Well, we come to the end of the column for the very last time and yours truly signs off fe«;ly>g very humble in the job PW Thlrtee* she did. Perhaps at times it seemed that it was a very poor job, but she honestly did the very best she knew how. In the twenty-two months that I wrote for our subdivision I had the unpleasant task of writing of many deaths' of many loved ones among you. In the past year alone we lost many of our precious leaders, including dear Father Blitsch; our Holy Father, Fope John XXIII; and our beloved President Kennedy. These are the truly hard things to wriite about. But, just as there is the sad and happy side to all things; there was the happy side to the column. All the new babies that arrived. All the couples that got married. All the parties, etc., that brought joy into someone's life. And these were the things that made it a nice job. My most sincere appreciation to those of ynu who were always so very thoughtful to call me with your news. And my apologies to those of you whom I might have offended in one way or another. 1 never intended to offend anyone. In my request for a new reporter to take over I received only one answer. Fran Olsen has been kind enough to offer to try her hand at being our Lakemoor-Lilvmoor COUNLEY-FRASEN MARRIAGE VOWS REPEATED SUNDAY Shirley Srfiuerr 986-2645 Wednesday bells rang out for Tom Counley and Marge Frasen Sunday, Dec 16, at the home of .Toe Ritter of Woodstock. There are others who called and said they just couldn't handle it alone but they would do what they could to collect news for Fran in their area. This, I'm sure, would be a truly fc!g h«lp to Fran. If you enjoyed my, column at all while I wrote it, please do me that favor and be generous with your calls to Fran, thus making it as easy on her as possible. Fran's phone number is 385-5740. Be sure to call her with your news. May i use my last paragraph to hope that each and everyone had a. very Blessed Christmas Day and that the New Year will be filled with all God's richest blessings.
