Peter Fieund, Jr., father of Harold 'Freund of Grand avenue,. a former JoKhsburg resident, observed his ninetieth birthday at the Highland Rest home at Genoa City, Wis., on Sunday, Dec. 22. Others who called to help him celebrate on that day were his other four children, Leo and Joseph Frefcmd and Mrs. Arthur 'Stilling of Johnsburg, Mrs. Edward Vogel of Spring Grove and several other relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Olsen and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Low and son, Bobby, ate Christmas dinner with Misses Myra and Edna Speaker in Richmond. Mr. and Mrs. William Jordan -spent the Christmas holiday in the home of their son, William, and family in Downers Grove. Father Clarence Thennes of Stockton was a dinner guest in the home of his sister, Mrs. Frank Gende, on Wednesday. Father Morgenthaler, assistant pastor at St. Bede's, Fox Lake, was also a caller there during the day. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lawrence of Chicago were Christ-1 mas eve guests of Donald Givens, who in company with them and Ann Frisby went to Waukegan to spend Wednesday in the Harold Phalin heme. James and Vern Petersen, students at Bradley university, are spending the holidays Avith their parents, Mr. and MrsT Fred Petersen. The William Lingenfelter family were Christmas guests in the Allan Brenner home in Chicago. Debbie Brenner returned home with them for a few days visit. A-3-C Fred Kupstis is home on leave from Keeler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss., to visit his mother, Mrs. Irma Gunther, and family. Wagner, spent the holiday vacation with his parents from Vlis studies at Salvatorian seminary in Wisconsin. It isn't often.Jhat Broadway comes to McHenry county, but on Jan. 11 at 7;30 p.m., just an occurrence will take place at Martinetti'sin Crystal Lake, where United Cerebral Palsy of McHenry ^County will hold its annual kickoff dinner. The lovely and. talented Ann Varese, well known for the performances she has done for many charitable reasons, will present a program she has titled "The Best of Broadway". Mrs. Varese has appeared in such one woman shows in the county and surrounding areas as "The Unsinkable Molly Brown", "Miracle Worker", "Gypsy", "Nq Strings", 'The Sound of Music" and many others, as well as producing, directing and starring in the shows, "Bye Bye Birdie", "Once Upon a Mattress" and most recently, "The Wizard of Oz". She will very shortly be leaving on her annual spring lecture tour. As is commonly known throughout the county, the United Cerebral Palsy Association for McHenry County, uses the funds received in their aiinual drive, for the support and benefit of. the handicapped classroom, which is located at the North school in Crystal Lake. The classroom- and the children . welpome visitois, one would only have , to visit the room, see th3 shining faces of the boys and girls, the dedication of the teacher and her assistance, the good work of the physical therapist, the beautiful equipment - and have any doubts removed as to the worth of the project. The kickoff dinner is the culmination of weeks of work by a few, but th° beginning of work for hundreds of volunteers, who will march from door to door on the afternoon cf Jan. 12 in what has been named "The '53-Minute Mother's March". The title is derived from the fact that once every 53 minutes, a cerebral palsied child is born, and it is the purpose of this drive to do all possible to help them.
