Sunnyslde Estates Many Residents Taken By Death Fran Olsen 385-5740 Hinging in the New Year wrung out many people. \ Red and Mary Davis saw the birth of the New Year at the Knights of Columbus Jodge in Long Lake where they enjoyed dinner, dancing and drinks with Louis and Herb Anderson and Legs and Kathryn Bute. A 3 a.m. breakfast at the Davis" topped off their tribute to the cOming year. Karl and Henrietta Rau spent New Year's Eve quietly at v home with their family and Grandma Rau who had been visiting for the holidays. Usually bakers know no holidays, but this year Karl had Christmas and New Years free to spend with the family -- a gift in itself. Jim and Dorothy Stoffel greeted '64 at the Moose lodge in Waukegan with three other couples -- and a lodge full of Moose. After dinner the dancing AND continued til the woo hours. Later hours of Jan. 1, brought guests from Libertyville. Jim's cousin came to root Illinois (his Alma Mater) on to victory. The Dick Janicki family began the new year with a family dinner and guest George Kropf (in that order?). They had their holiday celebration in Elmwood Park at the home of Millie Birard, Alice's sister, on Dec. 28. Dinner, gifts and warm wishes made this gathering of the entire family an overflowing occasion. Tom and Delores Hanahan and twenty-three others attended a party at the Herman household in Jak-Ana Heights. The three d's (dinner, dancing and refreshmments) .helped the guests see that '64 got in and well settled before they'd let it rest. Dec. 30 brought guests from Stevens Point, Wis., to the Bob Lakowske home. Betty's brother and his family paid their initial visit to Sunnyside Estates, which was spent simply enjoying each other's company, since they had to leave the following day in order to make more such short stops before their return home. Gus and Millie Moresi (former . Indian Ridge residents) arrived at the Majors' party just in time to revel in a "Happy birthday dear Gus" before Aulde Lang Syne ra out. Steve and Lorraine hosted Bunny and John Mischke, Chris and Don Fail, the Moresies and two other couples for this double celebration, which went bn into the not-so-wee hours of the morning. Later that satne day--assorted guests at assorted intervals arrived and departed. Are you sure that was just two days, Lorraine? Mr. Stork must have lost his way or perhaps Joan still has 8 years and 3 months left to carry her elephant. (After that remark the child will probably be a 5 lb. female!) The Stan Walczynskis courteously waited at home for their tax exemption and quietly collapsed when midnight saw their family unchanged from five minutes before midnight! So deciding that she might as well eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow she may still be pregnant, Joan skipped (?) out to dinner with Stan and Millie and .George Kropf on the1 day of their $600 loss. Dorothy Bierchen spent a very quite day of the year since Ted -was called to work to replace an absentee. But the entire family enjoyed their bowling on the fojlowing day. Dale and Charlotte Maule joined eight other couples at the home of Grace and Cal Vyduna to herald in the new j year. A 9.30 p.m. dinner began j the evening, games and danc- ! ing ' carried . the festivities through the* magical hour. But ! die-hard Dale felt the year < wouldn't go well unless the Vydunas and Maules vied at pinochle until i>:45 a.m. And they didn't disappoint him. All this and more was made possible through Charlotte's mother, Mrs. Lulu Kowlberg, of Two Rivers, Wis., who arrived Dec. 28 for a five day visit. Maules were unable 1o obtain sitters for their invited nights, so Grandma was the answer to a prayer. On Saturday they attended a party at the home of Hank and Ferol Tomlinson for the deacons of Faith Presbyterian chuich and their wives. A church choir party on Thursday rounded out their holiday -activities. This laryngitised reporter' "flu" in the new year in anything but a festive fashion. Sympathies to No. 1 spouse. Ooops. Junior Girl Scout Troop 88 and leader Claudia Garn graced this subdivision with their caroling on the Monday before Christmas. Thanks from all us to all of you and special thanks from Mrs. Holtfodt who, as a shut-in, appreciated this live entertainment all the more. After caroling in the village, the girls enjoyed a party coi plete with grab-bag. Felioettf Festivities The Felicetti household was an extremely busy one during the entire season: with son, Lou, and son-in-law, Howie^ Mortimer, both being home on leave, parties and gatherings followed in rapid succession. Tom and Rose hosted Howie's parents, grandfather and brothers and sisters on Christmas day with ravioli, turkey. Italian salad and all the other trimmings. Lovely gifts were presented and altho everyone complained of over indulging in Ros^V fabulous food, it was an ideal day of happiness. Then Vi Sunday friends from Chicago Who came for the day were feteu with lasagna and all good accompaniments. On New Year's Eve Marge and Jim Farley, La Verne and Leo Noah, and Flo, Barbara and Vicki Jesski joined the Felicettis and nine young couples from Lou and Rosemary's sets of friends to bring in the New Year with plenty of music and laughter, party records: and twisting and bf course lots of food andi driynk. A grand climax for the Felicettis' holidays. Then on the first day of the New Year the gaiety was.-tempered by Lou'S departure for Fort Knox, Kv. .. Rosemary will remain beaming until Jan. 14 when husband, Howie, must return to Germany until June when he will be discharged. Apply for a Charge Account Today! at GLADSTONE'S, INC. Jim Simmons and wife, Lydia, are stationed at Saymour Johnson Air Force Base where Shirley, Mel and Crew were hosted for one grand week. In 65 degree weather, they toured1 the USS North Carolina, hiked the woods, bummed around, and yea, really did go golfing on Dec. 25. Having gone over the mountains enroute, Shirley wanted to try the lower ground on their return trip. On Dec. 28 they bid farewell to their hosts, and headed for Gettysburg, Pa., where they toured and then on "to the Capitol where they toured the White House and various monuments. The children especially enjoyed t h e P e n n s y l v a n i a t u r n p i k e which goes between and through those great Appalachians. So who's to give speeding tickets up there? Seriously, though, it was a grand vacation for the Simmons. But in all truth, now didn't you really miss having a white Christmas? . Today "we dream of flights to far stars; about intelligent life on other planets. We look at our own earth with clear eyes, and discuss the possibility of world brotherhood, world government, world peace. Are these things going" to happen? We don't know. But we do know that nothing is impossible. in fact, Jesus tells ub that all things are possible with God. He wants us to understand that God is infinite power, as well as infinite love.
