Speaker Tells About Eye Bank The ladies of the Holiday Hills Woman's Club saw a film on the miracle of sight restored by corneal ' transplants. /Following the film, Leonard Heise, director of the Illinois Society for the prevention of blindness spoke about the eye bank made possible by the society. He told the ladies how they could, if they wished, sign a donor card, donating their eyes after death, thereby giving sight to the living who do not have the gift of sight. The eyes must be transplanted within 48 hours, so it is recommended that a card be filled out and sent to the Illinois Eye Bank, 220 So. State Street, Chicago 60604. Each donor will be sent a wallet card to carry at all times, thus assuring his wishes will be carried out. Mr. Heise pointed out that there are always more people on the waiting lits than there are donors. DAVID HECKLER FOUND GUILTY OF KILLING WIFE David John Heckler, 25, of Havard, was found guilty last week of murdering his wife,- Sharon Kay, last Nov. 2. The verdict came on the third day of his trial in Boone county Circuit court, Belvidere. The verdict was returned after an hour and a half of deliberation. The state's attorney had asked the jiity to find Heckler guilty of murder wiith the death penalty recommended. The defense attorney urged a finding of not guilty because of temporary insanity, and indicated after the verdict was read that a new trial would be sought. HeGkler had claimed on the stand that -he could not remember any of tlye events at the time of the crime. He was taken into custody by MeHenry county authorities on Nov. 3 in Harvard, after Boone county deputies had found the body fof Ms strangled wife lying on the front seat of the Heckler auto the day previous. He fled when they attempted to question him at the scene of the crime, and later remarked that he only wanted, to scare her.
